When will Christmas land in shops?

Just that really!!
I'm really excited for Christmas this year after an absolute sh*t show that has been 2021.
I really fancy having a wonder round the Christmas sections soon. When will Christmas hit in the likes of John Lewis (cry I miss debs too!) And next etc?

Sainsburys we’re putting their mince pies out when I was in there on Saturday 🎄

QueenPeary · 09/09/2021 22:25

Yup I saw mince pies in Sainsburys too!
Shocked I was. There really shouldn’t be mince pies until after Halloween.

Wam90 · 09/09/2021 22:27

My sainsburys had their first Christmas aisle set up when I went in today!
I also popped to the range the other day and they were getting the Christmas stock out too!

purpleme12 · 09/09/2021 22:28

Christmas range always starts coming out in September

blitzen · 09/09/2021 22:38

John lewis has their Christmas stuff online now

ChickenTimeBomb · 09/09/2021 22:41

Tesco had some Christmas food in today. I was giddy with excitement!!!

Thatsplentyjack · 09/09/2021 22:43

Home bargains already have some Christmas stuff out. Must say I was a bit horrified!

blitzen · 09/09/2021 22:48

Liberty does as well

MothershipG · 09/09/2021 22:49

Went to the garden centre today & was greeted by these guys.

squashyhat · 09/09/2021 22:50

Hopefully not until 1st December.

Hunkeringdown · 09/09/2021 22:53

M&S Food Hall, a whole aisle of Christmas Cakes, Puddings, Biscuits, Sweets.

Ridiculous !!

idontlikealdi · 09/09/2021 22:55

Already has in M&S. candles were all out a couple of weeks ago

EnglishRose1320 · 09/09/2021 22:56

Far too early, that's when. Already going up in loads of shops around here. I get November, people like to be organised. Personally I would prefer December but I'm not such a grinch that I can't understand people being excited and wanting to shop in November.
However September is ridiculous, consumerism at its worse, makes life hideous for our family and plenty of others with children with attentional needs who don't understand time and will just be confused and anxious with such an exaggerated run up to what should be a lovely, wonderful time of year.

purpleme12 · 09/09/2021 23:24

I always find it funny how ever year people like to moan about the Christmas things coming out in September even though it's been like that for years

FoofOfTheWalkingDead · 09/09/2021 23:29

Let us have Halloween first!

FizzyDibdab · 10/09/2021 03:05

To be fair to retailers, last winter we had a few lockdown leading up to Christmas which prevent led th shifting their stock. Retailers had a lot of leftover Christmas stock in Jan because shops were closed in Dec. Shops are putting out stock early to shift it in case of a firebreak near Christmas. Customers can plan buy directly instead of relying on deliveries which is risky near Christmas. Usually I would complain but I think this year it would be wise to buy early. The combination of driver shortages, pandemic and supply chain issues makes it a perfect storm.

@FoofOfTheWalkingDead

Let us have Halloween first!
Our M&S has had the Halloween goodies out for a week... and yesterday started shifting them to a smaller, less trafficked section so they could showcase the Christmas stuff! Confused
QueenPeary · 10/09/2021 08:15

I checked the date when I saw mince pies in Sainsburys and it was 31 AUGUST. I am sure it’s never been august before! That’s 4 months before Christmas so that’s 1/3 of your life being christmassy. Not OK!

Also it’s not for stocking up surely as mince pies don’t last. Unless you want to spend 1/3 of your year with a freezer full of Christmas stuff i suppose - I don’t have the space in mine.

EnglishRose1320 · 10/09/2021 08:21

I think it's fine to buy early if you want to, but presumably that's presents, not Christmas tat, which is the stuff currently filling the stores. Nothing on my childrens wish lists are Christmas specific items and can be purchased at any time of year.
All the bits that are going out now are not hard to get hold of items, they arent things you need in your house for 4 months and they could all be easily purchased in the last month or so of the year.

TheFlis12345 · 10/09/2021 08:23

B&M were clearing shelves to fill with Christmas stock when I went in on bank holiday Monday!

FollowYourOwnNorthStar · 10/09/2021 08:26

When does the Waitrose (and others) Food to Order books come out? I’m not in the UK, but always love seeing the wonderful food you can buy already prepared. We don’t have anything like it here in Australia.

Pandoraslastchance · 10/09/2021 08:47

Poundshops, QD, Sainsburys and one other that I cannot remember off the top of my head had their Christmas bits out last week and had reduced the size of the Halloween part.

vestastilly · 10/09/2021 08:55

Local B&m last night was just finishing the Christmas aisles ready for today

NoWordForFluffy · 10/09/2021 09:08

@FollowYourOwnNorthStar, early Oct usually. Xmas Smile
