When will Christmas land in shops?

Just that really!!
I'm really excited for Christmas this year after an absolute sh*t show that has been 2021.
I really fancy having a wonder round the Christmas sections soon. When will Christmas hit in the likes of John Lewis (cry I miss debs too!) And next etc?

I'm due my baby beginning of December so am glad all the Christmas things have come out early. I need to be early and prepared this year.

steppemum · 10/09/2021 09:15

went to The Range yesterday, they were just putting out all the Christmas stuff

GreenTortoise · 10/09/2021 09:19

I went into HB yesterday and they had some of theirs up.

Bigoldhag · 11/09/2021 17:01

Only a handful of bits in our local B and M today, although the chocolates were filling out a bit.

Seen some bits food wise in Tescos and Marks this week too.

EatSprayGlove · 11/09/2021 17:08

Same as above. Went to Barnardos and Tesco yesterday both had Christmas out!

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 11/09/2021 19:24

Small Christmas tree up in the entrance of our local Asda yesterday. Xmas Shock

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 11/09/2021 19:24

Wilkos has Xmas confectionery alreadySmile

Lipsandlashes · 11/09/2021 19:25

I went to pick up a few things in Tesco this afternoon and they had the seasonal aisle crammed full of Christmas chocolates and goodies

FizzyDibdab · 11/09/2021 21:31

The Christmas biscuits and chocolates were out in my large M&S today. I bought a light up town house tin with luxury tea bags. It was only £4 & would make an ideal token gift for teachers etc. Lots of other shops were clearing shelves to make way for stock. The assistant at boots said that deliveries were slow so stock was snapped up as soon as they hit the shops.

The combination of driver shortages, pandemic and supply chain issues makes it a perfect storm.

I agree with this. I do usually like to be organised and have all presents bought by end of November so I can enjoy December but this is the first year I've started buying food items for Christmas this early. Just crackers for cheese, tin of shortbread etc that all have best before dates of 2022. Part of me does think I'm being ridiculous but I feel better having some presents bought and some food in. The mince pies I've never understood though as they are usually short dated so won't last until Christmas.

QueefofSheena · 11/09/2021 22:46

I had to laugh at the light up bauble gin in M&S yesterday, it was sitting in a ‘summer of all summers’ display.

Toddlerteaplease · 11/09/2021 22:56

Christmas decorations in marks the other day. Sad

delilahbucket · 12/09/2021 19:53

I'm an online retailer and don't normally launch until the beginning of October, but as stock has been coming in I've been launching straight away as all the major retailers are already on with theirs.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 13/09/2021 15:32

My baby is due on 5 January but due to complications will be arriving before Christmas. Have been looking online and Jo Jo Maman Bebe has a full range of Christmas clothes but nowhere else yet - though I agree it’s very early. Also had a quick look for men’s Christmas jumpers as last year, my DH said he’d like one. Couldn’t find anything online.

I think it’s wise to buy presents earlier than usual this year. With Brexit, shortages, restrictions etc I’d like to get the presents and at least order my turkey. Can make do with what I’ve got/what’s available for everything else.

I’m a huge fan of Mince Pies all year around, so I start buying them as soon as they come out and do a taste test, so by Christmas, I know exactly which ones I like best and want to buy for Christmas. Last year Waitrose won. So far this year (have been testing since July) it’s Sainsbury’s Frangipane Mince Pies, which are beyond delicious!

QueenPeary · 13/09/2021 16:09

Sainsbury’s Frangipane Mince Pies

OK I'll break my no-mincies-before-december rule to ahem, taste-test these!

I always find it funny how ever year people like to moan about the Christmas things coming out in September even though it's been like that for years.

Things don't generally stop being annoying by happening for years.

Patbutchersarrow · 13/09/2021 16:40

Christmas has landed at my local B&M and all the supermarkets have offers on tubs of chocs. I've found it strange that all the shops have skipped halloween though.

No, people coming onto the Christmas board every year to moan about how it's too soon to talk about it, every single year, are pretty irritating.
Akire · 14/09/2021 12:36

Wilko have been cleaning summer shelves ready for Halloween next but have snuck in some toys in pet section and had selection boxes chocolate Santa’s in with the sweets.

Halloween is only big seller if lots of people have big parties but end of October we don’t know covid rates or how schools are going be. Not sure many people as usual be planning massive Halloween parties or trick or treating this year again. Plus all tat is from China which must be affected by production and transport.

Rather make sure xmas is ok and miss Halloween if needs be!

Lowlifeinhighplaces · 14/09/2021 15:04

I popped into The Range yesterday looking for a frame, the Christmas Shop was in full swing, loads and loads of 'stuff', I was rather taken with a double animated lantern thing with snow and music about 6 feet tall.....(well not really taken, but taken aback by it)..
and a huge snow globe about 2 foot high

EllieSattler · 14/09/2021 15:06

Do Christmas chocolates stay nice until Christmas? I bought a box of m&s chocs with the led lights today but don't know whether to give them as a very early pre Christmas gift or keep them back.

LoveBigBundts · 14/09/2021 16:47

Ikea has a small christmas section where i am… complete with wreaths, decorations, trees, candles etc

MargosKaftan · 14/09/2021 16:52

Was in the big tescos earlier - can confirm Christmas is in stock.

Am tempted to go early this year, weve got freezer space and storage space for stuff for once and given how hideous I'm thinking autumn /winter will be with the covid nonsense and no drivers etc, I might want to give proper shops and swerve and be doing it all online, but I find i only get ideas for little gifts and the extras like the nice chocolates, when im walking round shops and throw them in my basket.

Scarby9 · 14/09/2021 16:58

It has already begun to land in our local garden centre!
