OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 03/12/2007 11:32

Not at all Franny!

Piggy · 03/12/2007 11:33

I wouldn't unless I was pretty far along (20 weeks or so) but then I'm a pessimist by nature!

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 03/12/2007 11:33

Unless you intend to call the baby Jesus

FrannyandZooey · 03/12/2007 11:33

ok a promising start

next question: is it naff to put a copy of the scan in with the card?

OP posts:
katwith3kittens · 03/12/2007 11:34

Piggy · 03/12/2007 11:34

lol F&X we all know the answer to the second question

FrannyandZooey · 03/12/2007 11:34

Piggy are you saying that you wouldn't tell anyone you were pg until you were 20 weeks?

Dior yes I thought I could put reindeer ears on the scan picture. I thought a halo might be going too far (this is a JOKE)

OP posts:
Piggy · 03/12/2007 11:35

My naff point was aimed at including a photo of the scan btw...!

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 03/12/2007 11:35

Maybe not to close family. But your second cousins twice removed might not appreciate it!

CarmenerryChristmas · 03/12/2007 11:35

I would definitely announce it in the cards but maybe hold off on the scan pics as to non parents they look like alien smudge pics. Just include them to close friends/family (mum sis ect)

FrannyandZooey · 03/12/2007 11:35

Lockets are you pg too????? Oh man! How nice!

oh bum I thought that would be the answer to the second question. Damn it. WHY is it naff? You lot think everything fun is naff

OP posts:
OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 03/12/2007 11:36

Halo is a tad too far, yes

claraquitemassivenow · 03/12/2007 11:37

I don't know but was wondering whether it's a cheesy (read cheap) idea to announce a birth in Christmas cards. And to say thank you for new baby presents.

They can't all expect three lots of cards when I've just given birth can they????

Piggy · 03/12/2007 11:37

I would tell my friends and relations at about 12 weeks plus. We send (what seems like) zillions of Christmas cards to people we don't see very often. I wouldn't tell them until I was really far along. I'm afraid I can't explain it rationally!

FrannyandZooey · 03/12/2007 11:38

Piggy yes don't worry I got that bit!

Ok if no scan picture, what do I say then? I thought putting the picture in and just saying coyly "as you can see we have some good news" or whatever was at least an easy way to explain. How do you put it?

"Happy Christmas, I am up the duff
love Franny
xx"

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 03/12/2007 11:38

Like it...that covers it I think!

hoxtonchick · 03/12/2007 11:39

i did, 3 years ago. i didn't actually have my 12 week scan 'til the week after xmas, but i'd had one at 6 weeks & seen a heartbeat so felt ok about it. dd is now 2.5....

FrannyandZooey · 03/12/2007 11:39

Oh cross posts Piggy, yes I see. We don't tend to send lots of cards, and I suppose it is the easiest way to tell people who are far away, but I do see what you mean.

So we are agreed on the halo, then. [gloom]

Reindeer ears?

How about:

"This time next year there will be one more leedle person to share this special time of year"

FrannyandZooey · 03/12/2007 11:40

yes you see! what can you say that isn't revolting! at least the scan picture just SHOWS it, you don't have to say much at all
