Hi there

I knwo we've got a pinned thread, but a few things have come up in your emails that I thought I'd better address, and I thought if I put this on the big thread people would miss it.

  1. the 6th October deadline refers only to your MN joining date. You have plenty of time to sign up - about 5 weeks left, until December 1st.

  2. As far as I am concerned, this is completely anonymous. I won't be telling the recipients who the donors are or vice versa - donors will receive addresses but not real names - packages to be sent to Ms M. Netter . And I won't be listing recipient or donor names anywhere on the board.

  3. If you are nominating yourself, PLEASE don't feel bad! (and please include your address! )

  4. If you are donating specific things, it is helpful to tell me what they are, but "toys for a 4-5 yo girl" works as well, so don't worry if you haven't sorted them out yet.

  5. I'll start matching people up in mid November, and I'll try and get you overseas types sorted out early.

Errrr.... I think that's it. If you've emailed me, you should have had a reply - if not please mail me again and shout at me!

[email protected]

Full details of the appeal are on the main thread which is pinned to the top of Active Convos.

Thanks all

Sorry EllieG but this is my first time to so am in the same boat as you I'm sure people will come along soon and answer you.

mummyhill · 30/11/2007 18:17

Ellie it doesn't mater how large or small it is the thought that counts. Some of us have been nominated for financial reasons, others have been nominated cause they have the need of an emotional boost iyswim.

RudolphtherEDDASnosedreindeer · 30/11/2007 18:21

I have another question

Do the nominees get told they have been nominated before they get the items? I know some people nominate themselves, but those that don't, is it just a huge suprise when they get something.

Not really sure it's relevant but just been wondering

EllieG · 30/11/2007 19:16

I will stop fretting about stuff not being right in that case and just send it off.

ChristmasShinySnowflakes · 30/11/2007 19:53

Should I put a Christmas Card in saying who it's from, or is it BEST to keep it anonymous?

(I know I'd go MAD with curiosity if I received a mystery parcel)

Flamesparrow · 30/11/2007 19:57

No idea if people are told if they have been nominated.

Anonymous - tis entirely up to you. I liked it last year when I knew who people were

MNSanta · 30/11/2007 23:03

Has anyone got details of a cheapish courier to deliver a big box of stuff for this? Seems to be some doubt about whether pay per drop are still operating.

Hula ? Box still here waiting for collection.

Contacted company who assure me that my collection was definitely booked for today.
Said due to high volume of collections at this time of year, DHL the company they are using , are currently working up to 7pm.
If not collected by then, drop them a line and they will re book for tomorrow and upgrade to next day delivery.
See what happens tomorrow.

ValnBen · 03/12/2007 20:11

oh and SB ? I (well, DS in reality) just happened to have some largish Tonka type toys to give away ? hence my larger than average box requirement.

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 03/12/2007 20:25

OMG! People are sending 30 kg box of goodies? And using couriers?

I pity the person who has been matched with me then, as I am not extremely wealthy, but love the idea of taking part. Maybe I shouldnt have offered.

I hope they find it is the thought that count, rather than being disappointed.

TenLordsaLapin · 03/12/2007 20:28

I sent two packages today, both by normal Royal Mail, both small enough to be held in the palm of the hand. And they are damned nice so don't you all be worrying. ANY gift is lovely to receive.

Don't forget, also, that some people are giving pre-loved toys etc so don't assume they've all nipped out to Fortnums and blown 5 grand on a hamper

QuintessentialShadowOfYuleTide · 03/12/2007 20:30

I think Lapin, that you are possibly one of the nicest, most considerate, kind hearted and diplomatically minded people on this planet.

Lapin for Prime Minister.

RudolphtherednoseEANDHdeer · 03/12/2007 20:32

yep my person will receive a large brown jiffy bag but only because one item slightly fragile I have spent around £10 inc p&p but I know if it was me I'd be so pleased for anything that would be a surprise for my dc!

TenLordsaLapin · 03/12/2007 20:33

LOL Quint, I would have thought "diplomatically minded" disqualified a person from being an MP

TenLordsaLapin · 03/12/2007 20:34

By the way, if anyone WANTED to spend 5 grand on a Fortnums Hamper, my address is...
