Hi there

I knwo we've got a pinned thread, but a few things have come up in your emails that I thought I'd better address, and I thought if I put this on the big thread people would miss it.

  1. the 6th October deadline refers only to your MN joining date. You have plenty of time to sign up - about 5 weeks left, until December 1st.

  2. As far as I am concerned, this is completely anonymous. I won't be telling the recipients who the donors are or vice versa - donors will receive addresses but not real names - packages to be sent to Ms M. Netter . And I won't be listing recipient or donor names anywhere on the board.

  3. If you are nominating yourself, PLEASE don't feel bad! (and please include your address! )

  4. If you are donating specific things, it is helpful to tell me what they are, but "toys for a 4-5 yo girl" works as well, so don't worry if you haven't sorted them out yet.

  5. I'll start matching people up in mid November, and I'll try and get you overseas types sorted out early.

Errrr.... I think that's it. If you've emailed me, you should have had a reply - if not please mail me again and shout at me!

[email protected]

Full details of the appeal are on the main thread which is pinned to the top of Active Convos.

Thanks all

Is the name thing really a huge issue? Last year I sent to 3 families and I had all their real life names, but it meant nothing to me at all because they never use their names on MNet... also my post office insisted that I put a full proper return address on each package (they checked and told me off when they found I had signed them all 'secret santa'), so I ended up having to give out most of my details as well....but again they never knew 'who' I really was... I just don't see the problem and can imagine this collecting/redelivering issue getting out of hand - some post offices will be stricter than others and I guess different private delivery companies will have different rules as well?

Bump for those, like me, who were searching for relevant sending info.. as the threads are no longer sticky

So before I post mine out - do I need a real name or not? I will be using a courier. At present I don't have a real name to send to.

Baffy · 28/11/2007 10:34

.

Peachy · 28/11/2007 10:45

You don't need a real name I dont think

For the return address, all you need to put is your house number followed by your postcode- eg

N0. 67
BN123HG

If anyone knows you well enough to ID youn from that, well they'll recognise your handwriting anyway LOL

andaPartridgeinClareV · 28/11/2007 10:51

Ll... Do recipients let you know when they have recieved a parcel? I was just wondering how one would find out if the parcels made it to their intended destinations?

TheBlonde · 28/11/2007 11:38

provided a person is at the address to take delivery then the courier won't need a real name

LydiaTheTattooedLapin · 28/11/2007 11:49

Partridge - there is a Thank You thread - hopefully people will post on there and then you will know.

That was the server crash, not me posting twice

mygirllollipop · 28/11/2007 11:56

I've just finished wrapping mine and then I find out not to wrap kids stuff - argh! Nevermind. The parcel has the address on and just waiting for it to be picked up!
I had fun wrapping and the kids had fun making some gift labels. So it's a win-win situation.

LydiaTheTattooedLapin · 28/11/2007 12:01

Not wrapping is just a suggestion, not a commandment

Peachy · 28/11/2007 16:21

Thou shalt not wrap (dread to think what sort of burning bush you'd get on MN- not forsythia I'll betcha )

This might be a stupid question but am new to this as wasn't around last year - am I OK to send a few bits? They are all for same age that have been asked to, but I know my DSD liked these things and thought other LO would too. Haven't gone mad or anything (just a few little bits, not like playstations or diamonds or owt), but I don't want to offend anyone. Or is the idea to send lots? Cos then I might not have enough....am confused sorry for being a bit pathetic

Rudolph, that is a lovely Idea I think anyone would be rather pleased to receive such a thoughtful gift.

EllieG · 30/11/2007 17:24

But what about MY question! [wails]

I don't know the etiquette of it all and I am worried I haven't got enough though don't have masses of money so don't think can get any more or if I've got too much and I will offend someone or look stupid
