Thumbs up for me is mandmdirect.com....the mousehousecheese company.....Dpd delivery (even Hermes has been ok) ...Orion for telescopes. All great communication and delivery.

Poor have been royal mail...2 items have gone missing that I know of. Matalan...gave me 2 dispatch notices for collecting at the store but not at store. Boots...can't contact them at all regarding delivery that didn't happen.

Probably others but mandm stand out as amazing. Luckily dss will wear the clothing from there and like clothes as gifts.

Any that stand out for you for whatever reason?

Royal Mail are working on hideously reduced staff numbers (due to sickness & self isolation) and have more parcels to deliver than ever before. A vast majority or Royal Mail workers are older, semi retired and isolating as well as people off with actual covid. They work in warehouses full of people will no room for social distancing a lot of the time. They have only just allowed two post men in a van again. They have been working over time morning and evening to post the usual post as well as 200+ EACH parcels a day. They have had to hire extra vans to cater for that. New starters haven't turned up for shifts. They are also delivering 20% of Amazon's next day deliveries. I think they've done a bloody good job considering actually. Maybe you should give it a bit more time before you say your parcels are missing.

Goawayquickly · 10/12/2020 13:03

I agree, the Royal mail are under huge strain, tracking system keeps crashing and information there is unreliable- they're doing amazing work in the circumstances. Parcels are late not necessarily lost. The amount of parcels they're dealing with is unprecedented this year

Invisimamma · 10/12/2020 13:16

Hobbycraft thumbs down, ordered on 27th Nov still not even been dispatched.

Amazon thumbs up, quite a few parcels have gone missing but they've refunded each one, no quibbles.

TheGirlWhoLived · 10/12/2020 13:23

Sports direct are so far thumbs down they cannot get any lower... I’ve been waiting 4 weeks for my order Sad they won’t refund some things I know aren’t coming until they process the things that are coming...

I’ve really been impressed with Waterstones, their click and collect is free and really personable. Plus you don’t need to pay in advance

Sennetti · 10/12/2020 13:34

all stores are facing their own covid related issues depending on what they sell

how unfair to start a thread like this when half of customer services could be isolating or shop store staff might be off with covid/isolating too

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/12/2020 13:38

My thumbs up is for Master of Malt. The customer service was brilliant.

Daisy829 · 10/12/2020 13:49

I really feel for Royal Mail. I’ve had 2 parcels go missing but our usual postie is so good and we’ve been getting deliveries up to 7.30 at night so they are obviously working really hard so although not perfect I think they are doing an amazing job. So many people ordering online this year.
Hermes have been excellent too.

Completly agree with you Sennetti.
My husband is a post man. He has not stopped since march. He's working till 9
8/9pm 6 days a week! They have NEVER been this busy. And some twat is moaning it took 6 days extra to get a parcel! He is just as susceptible to covid as any one else. Just like all the people working for Royal Mail. Just like all the people working for these companies.
What an ugly, mean spirited and ignorant thread.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/12/2020 14:02

I can't fault our postman. Same bloke for post and parcels- we are on the van round. Also leaves stuff with neighbours instead of on the wrong doorstep in the rain like one of the Amazon drivers... His deliveries are like a treasure hunt! I've switched to using the lockers for Amazon.

incognitomum · 10/12/2020 14:10

See I touched a nerve there!

A lot of people are struggling financially so if they aren't receiving items then it can spoil Christmas. I was warning people that maybe they shouldn't buy from people who use royal mail at the moment. As other companies are delivering and they aren't always. I'm avoiding them at the moment.

I'm going to thumbs up royal mail too, although some things have taken longer than usual I think they've done really well considering the circumstances! It's not as if we weren't warned about this months ago, it's pretty logical to assume that things might take a little bit longer or go wrong at the busiest time of the year during a global pandemic when a large number of people can't get to shops. It's not 'business as usual' which a lot of people seem to be forgetting. Plus my postie is great, he's always cheerful and lovely despite how much pressure he must be under.

@Bummsbet are we allowed to give our posties a box of chocs or anything?

glas14368 · 10/12/2020 14:14

Very impressed with Floral Street (their own website). Ordered my daughter some perfume yesterday afternoon and it was delivered by 8.30am this morning.

Came in large beautifully decorated box (like a shoe box) with perfume and free sample inside. Would use again

incognitomum · 10/12/2020 14:25

@glas14368 that sounds lovely.

Our postie was terrible. The amount of post I've had for other streets is unreal. I've delivered them myself.
I have complained to royal mail a while back. Think we have a different one now though?

Thumbs up Superdrug click and collect and also my postman has been fab he even popped back last night with 2 parcels as he saw me driving back towards my house whilst on his rounds

Bummsbet · 10/12/2020 14:28

Yes you clearly have hit a nerve creating a post to slag companies off that are struggling during a pandemic, at the busiest time of the year under normal circumstances.
Royal Mail are ALWAYS delivering. You may not get it in 2 days anymore but they are still there and still delivering. They pay their workers a decent wage unlike DPD & Hermes who barely make minimum wage, get no petrol money and have to use their own vehicles (DPD branded vans have to be purchased by the franchisee)

@TheCrow Thank you! A small box of chocs (or a mince pie) is always appreciated, as is a card! Always appreciated but not at all expected!

TheChosenTwo · 10/12/2020 14:31

Just unimpressed with Yodels dishonesty today! I’m poorly at home, have been sat in the front room with the fire going, reading a book most of the day. Dh called this afternoon asking if I was in as he had received an email saying they had failed to deliver as no one answered the door! I said I had been in all day other than the school run first thing and hadn’t been asleep or elsewhere in the house. Anyway, I have cctv so watched it back and they definitely didn’t turn up let alone ring the doorbell. Just be bloody honest and say the delivery will be late, don’t lie Angry

Spongebobsquarefringe · 10/12/2020 14:36

I had something go missing don’t think it was royal mails daily though as the seller had given it same tracking number but 2 separate parcels so I have no idea what happened so it was shown delivered but wasn’t. Out postie is great. Our Hermes driver is brilliant, so friendly and polite. Ordered from M&S, boohoo, Amazon, hotel chocolat, Argos, Waterstones, dunelm, M&Mdirect and everything has arrived, even stuff i ordered from the states has turned up. Had excellent service all round

Lovemusic33 · 10/12/2020 15:02

Not had any issues really with any orders, have probably used Amazon the most (I know), hotel chocolate were fast, Royal Mail deliveries have been on time, ASOS took a while but still delivered before the expected delivery date. The only thing not turned up was something from eBay.

TheCrow · 10/12/2020 15:50

Another good one for me was Romwe, estimated delivery was 16-23rd Dec which I was taking a chance on because it was christmassy bits but they arrived a couple of days ago. It shipped from China on the 2nd so only took 6 days to get here!

Sennetti · 10/12/2020 15:59

i've had no issues whatsoever!! none

all the companies have been fantastic....all deliveries have been fantastic!!

really appreciate this fab service during difficult times, especially when christmas is added into the mix and everyone is using delivery services instead of going shopping and visiting relatives. The pandemic alone has put obstacles in the way as it is.....but those workers working overtime to get items out are worth their weight in gold!!

all the posties out there (i know many have had to isolate) have worked extra hard, well done royal mail!! Smile

Hohomerryxmas · 10/12/2020 16:04

Not had an issue with a royal mail.
Hermes, however, managed damage my parcel in their depot. Kept sending me emails saying my parcel was delayed and that it "will be on the move in the next 24 hours" for over a week, took phoning the sender to find out what had actually happened 🤦‍♀️

CabinClose · 10/12/2020 16:06

Royal Mail still attempt to treat their workers reasonably, with direct employment rights. The other companies usually run on hideous, stressful and exploitative ‘self-employment’ models. So if you’re comfortable that someone else’s quality of life is worse so you get your present 17 days before Christmas instead of 20, then go right ahead and avoid Royal Mail.

TricksyLiesmith · 10/12/2020 17:07

Matalan - ordered 4 items (family pj's ) they sent 2 then cancelled remaining order . However never bothered to tell me this and had to spend hours on the phone chasing the order . Subsequent return of the 2 items was a nightmare too . Never again

hiredandsqueak · 10/12/2020 17:26

Thumbs up to Royal Mail here as well our postie has been brilliant. Poor bloke has been out in all weathers and delivering in the dark at times so imagine he is snowed under. (Will be doubling his usual tip this year) Amazon have been great as well, everything delivered as ordered and a no quibble refund when an item was damaged on receipt.
My thumbs down goes to Argos, so much unavailable for delivery when it's in stock for click and collect. I think when your selling point is same day delivery then you should at least have a delivery option available to customers even if you can't fulfill the same day option.
