My mum bought me a tree!

It's been no secret that I've been unhappy with my tree for a while.

It is a black pre lit tree that cost 25 quid in asda 12 years ago. The lights are a weird white and against the black they look blue and I've hated it for a while.

I've never been able to justify replacing a perfectly functioning tree.

My mum bought me a new tree. Its green for starters, but it's so so lovely.

It's probably cheap for some but a complete indulgence for me. £70 from b&q.

I'm putting it now and it's a right bugger due to the millions of branches and taking me an age to sort but I can't wait to see it competed.

I'm so excited.

I’m so excited on your behalf! Post a pic when it’s all up and properly fluffed and beautifully decorated. Maybe you could treat yourself to a few new baubles this year as well. eBay is great for finding a bargain.

(Don’t throw out the old one - if you’re so inclined you could make a pretty great Halloween tree with a black one!)

Oh what a lovely thread. That's just the sort of thing my mum would do. It will look fabulous when it's up, just remember to fluff the branches and then fluff them some more. Then sit back and admire it with pride for the next month.

I'd love to post a picture and I will try but I've never succeeded in the past. I've tried in the app and just using the site on chrome but it doesn't work. I might have to use my mum's pc?

Your thread has made me a little tearful - this is the first Christmas I’ve ever been away from my now adult daughters and I’ve miss them very much with starting all my Christmas planning over the past couple of weeks. So happy your mum did this lovely thing for you.

My mum has just bought me a washing machine! Not as lovely but still very kind!

We have a b&q tree as our main tree in the lounge its about 10 years old but still beautiful! I agree with pp take a lot of time to fluff and primp the branches. The preparation is everything!!

I got a new tree this year and miss my old tree :( I was black and went to green/white!
Just can't get happy with it. Spent a fortune on decorating it ! Urgh my mum has all my old decorations and they look lovely. Might go rob her house when she's at work haha swap our decorations over ! Xx
