Help! Teenage DD. No presents

ArthurChristmas2 · 20/11/2020 22:48

So, my lovely girl is just 15. My shopping is pretty much done apart from her. I have no presents whatsoever. She’s never asked for anything, ever. She’s not into brands. She has a phone, a laptop, kindle, new camera for birthday. She doesn’t really need any new clothes. She rarely wears jewellery. She does a lot of dance but we’ve either had to buy equipment as it was needed or she has regulation uniform. I am so clueless it’s frightening. Please hit me with your DD lists and ideas. Desperately seeking something to get her (I also have to get both sets of grandparents).

I've found my people!!!

My DD is 15 and not a girly girl at all. Not interested in clothes, makeup, music, socialising, hobbies, nothing apart from watching ridiculous YouTube videos! 😂

I was going to look into Oodies but they're so expensive and now pp have said no shipping until after Christmas anyway 😕

I will buy her the usual Snow Fairy from Lush (like always) and some new fluffy socks etc but really struggling to muster up ideas as she isn't into ANYTHING!

She has super curly hair though, so I'm liking the idea of a silk pillowcase.

All she ever says she wants is chocolates and Haribo 🥴 (one year when she was younger, she asked for a packet of pasta Hmm)

What about vans or pair of DMs, they're all the rage here in my part of east london? X

@rainbowstardrops if you’re anywhere nearish to Pontefract Haribo have a factory shop where you can buy some unusual Haribo gifts, I’ve visited a couple of times for my daughter who loved the sweets when passing on the motorway for on work trips.

There are alternatives though. I've got one from Amazon and there are Etsy links on this thread to others.

rainbowstardrops · 22/11/2020 10:01

@ClaireP20 she loves Vans but has to try them on because she's got wonky feet/is a bit funny with shoes. Definitely an idea though. Her birthday isn't too long after Christmas, so hopefully the shops will be open by then.

@Citrustree you’re welcome x

@ArthurChristmas2 I’m now £150 lighter since you started this thread! But actually feel like I’ve achieved something and bought some presents at last! 🎄

rainbowstardrops · 22/11/2020 10:05

@FAQs sadly not near Pontefract but I wonder if they have an online shop?

@SoupDragon I think I'll end up getting an alternative. Thanks Smile

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 22/11/2020 10:12

Great thread, I've just ordered a papergang subscription for my 15 year old, she loves artsy stuff. She'll love it.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 22/11/2020 10:17

I've taken lots of ideas from this for DD 18 - especially the Asos embroidery t shirt.

I had considered getting the Tefal Cake Factory but have decided she might have it for her birthday instead. (Combined present from us and her grandmother)

When my oldest daughter was 15 we were quite broke but I wanted to give her something really special. In the end I bought her an expensive fountain pen and gave her the gold necklace I had for my 18th birthday. I gave it to her with a letter explaining what it was and all the reasons I wanted her to have it. She loved both the presents but the one she loved most was the letter.

8obbingabout · 22/11/2020 10:47

Wow she sounds like a dream!

I am not sure what your budget is for her but I have some suggestions...

Some make up
Clothes
Trainers
Wireless speakers for her room
Wireless Headphones
Stationary
Toiletries
TV for her room

Have a Merry Christmas : )

micc · 22/11/2020 10:52

Does she like games? Maybe a Nintendo switch? Animal crossing is an amazing relaxing and creative game I loved at her age and still love it now!!

ArthurChristmas2 · 22/11/2020 13:29

@FAQs I know!!! Ok, so far I have bought fake oodies (given the delivery issues and I ended up buying one for DS as well even though his list is endless!), face masks and a bakedin set for stocking.
I am now trying to track down one of the USB diffusers. Does anyone have any recommendations particularly on the oils? I bought some from Amazon a while ago and they weren’t that nice! I’ve had a chat with her about dance stuff and she’s going to write me down some ideas.

So great to see the many posts and ideas everyone has listed. Its inspired me to also share.

I have twin DD's aged 15. Neither of them add anything expensive to their list, both are very grateful of whatever they receive. So usually my family cover the small list and I'm left trying to guess what best to buy.

This year I've decided on

DD 1, Portrait lens for previous years expensive camera, along with pair of Dc Martens
DD 2 Nintendo switch with bundle of games. Really happy to see @micc endorsement, as Animal crossing is on the list.

Both - Mix of t-shirts and Tote bag and make up bag from Redbubble with fav manga series/characters prints on.

Previous years big hits were def the expensive camera, GHD hairdryer, smart tv and Wireless noise cancelling headphones.

I also have books, false eyelashes, washi tape, hair products, pens, sketch pads etc for stocking fillers.

There may also be a replica Oodie thrown in after reading this thread!

Nonamesavail · 22/11/2020 14:31

Oo we got baked in kit one year and was really good fun. Fab idea!

SoupDragon · 22/11/2020 14:38

The Bakedin cinnamon buns DD made were delicious :)

Justyou · 22/11/2020 15:08

I’m thinking of doing the bubble tea kit order but am clueless at what are the popular kinds? I know my dd usually gets a lychee fruit one but what kind of base would it be as there are no fruit options

LucyLem0nade · 22/11/2020 17:20

Just a word of warning about the bubble tea kits ... I bought one for myself as I like bubble tea. And UGH - they were revolting. They are not like the teas you get when out and about.

You may love them of course but I thought they were pretty disgusting so maybe don't go signing up for a subscription without checking your kids like it first

Gettingthereslowly1 · 22/11/2020 17:23

This thread has been so useful so wanted to share the help....
My teenage daughter loves these earrings and all her friends have been asking for them - we’ve just placed a big order - some for me to give her for Christmas along with a number for her to give her friends as presents - can’t recommend enough, and the packaging is just gorgeous, not to mention amazing pricing:

Thank you to the person who posted about the Sienna Oodie - just ordered

Notcoolmum · 22/11/2020 19:21

Everyone saying they are buying oodies - at £84 a pop? Are they worth it? It would fleece my Xmas budget.

Nonamesavail · 22/11/2020 19:59

I think many of us have got the cheaper amazon version!

ShouldHaveCouldHaveWouldHave · 22/11/2020 20:17

I’ve bought my 15yr old DD a MadeByZen Kube Diffuser from John Lewis and a set of sleep oils to go with it.
She’ll also get Ariana Grande perfume, pyjamas, stud earrings and that’s as far as I’ve got! Oh she’s asked for books so need to get those.

Holothane · 22/11/2020 20:26

I didn’t pay £84 for any of mine I had £25 off and a bundle of two for £109 instead of near £150.

HiyaMeAgain · 22/11/2020 20:43

How about a hamper of nice little things? Like bath bombs, lip gloss. make up, face pack, nail varnish. favourite sweets, book, coffee pods.

Can make it look amazing with the right things in.
