Help! Teenage DD. No presents

ArthurChristmas2 · 20/11/2020 22:48

So, my lovely girl is just 15. My shopping is pretty much done apart from her. I have no presents whatsoever. She’s never asked for anything, ever. She’s not into brands. She has a phone, a laptop, kindle, new camera for birthday. She doesn’t really need any new clothes. She rarely wears jewellery. She does a lot of dance but we’ve either had to buy equipment as it was needed or she has regulation uniform. I am so clueless it’s frightening. Please hit me with your DD lists and ideas. Desperately seeking something to get her (I also have to get both sets of grandparents).

I’d not heard if Oodies, official site isn’t shipping until after Christmas so ordered one from Etsy with great reviews, handmade in the UK for those asking.

Scoleah · 21/11/2020 20:27

For those that can't get the Oodie, "the comfy" was the original that was seen on Shark tank.

Some great ideas from everyone! Thank you Smile

bendmeoverbackwards · 21/11/2020 20:37

That looks great @FAQs

Longbarn5 · 21/11/2020 20:40

Magazine subscription, nail varnish drier, pandora jewellery

Notrobusta · 21/11/2020 21:21

I got the lounger cushion from dunelm and the fake oodie was from a company called Wollie. Also forgot that she asked for smelly candles and a roll neck top which is apparently fashionable again .

Comefromaway · 21/11/2020 21:29

I’ve seen good reviews of this one too

The Oodies are hideous! Do teens really like them? Need something else for dd14.

SoupDragon · 21/11/2020 21:36

I think the Oodie is the replacement for the Onsie for lounging purposes,

hilariousnamehere · 21/11/2020 21:40

Have a look at Creative Live for photography courses - there are some amazing creative ones which are different from standard photography courses.

Another vote for weighted blanket or oodie, and have a nose at uopen.com - they list lots of different subscription boxes so she could maybe choose her own?

ArthurChristmas2 · 22/11/2020 00:17

This thread is amazing and will probably do not just this Christmas but next year too, you are wonderful!

For those asking, she does ballet, modern and contemporary. She has warmup boots, we had to buy a home barre and yoga mat/balls etc so she could still train during lockdown. I am going to look for a new contemporary kit but she’s s tricky one as super skinny so tends to be age 9-10 for bra tops but needs adult size 6/8 bottoms. I’ve never try cracked matching top and bottom that she’s really like!

I am going to work my way through these tomorrow and get ordering. What I am most pleased by is that neither me or her are alone, so good to see so many others with a daughter just like me!

Just a thought OP but because your dd does dance some foot care? Maybe a trip to a podiatrist or Scholl shop? Some nice foot lotion or maybe a foot spa?

user1471539385 · 22/11/2020 06:37

My ballet dancing DD loves her foot spa! Peppermint foot spray from the body shop is very popular too, but not lotion as it softens the skin, which isn’t good for pointe!

ArthurChristmas2 · 22/11/2020 06:43

@sashh @user1471539385 her Aunty bought her a foot spa for her birthday but foot treatments and peppermint spray are a really good idea. I don’t know what your daughters feet look like but her’s are awful!

LOL I think that's typical of most dancers.

ItsStartingToFeelLikeChristmas · 22/11/2020 07:29

Does she like reading? Book subscription?

user1471539385 · 22/11/2020 07:55

Ha ha! All those beautiful arty photos of pointe shoes... little do they know!!
DD boards at vocational ballet school, and her foot spa is classed as ‘essential’ when squeezing things into the car boot at the start of term! Also, the tendu wooden foot roller and medicine balls in varying sizes and degrees of firmness.
For top and leggings sets, try dans-ez. They have the same designs in child and adult sizes, so easy to find a matching set that fits well.

Nonamesavail · 22/11/2020 08:07

My daughter enjoys exploding kittens game. We know when she wants to play its a sign she wants to spend time with us lol

Eco friendly make up brushes?
Snack and treat hamper
Unusual chocolate such as Japanese flavours etc

sashh · 22/11/2020 08:09

Off topic but goggle images has some fab pics, one foot in a pointe shoe, the other no shoe, just bruises, blood, bandages, black toe nails.

@Theredjellybean

Similar issue here with dsd aged 17 who is anorexic, just in early recovery... So no food or cooking related items, no clothes, not wearing makeup. I have bought all the set up for an aquarium for her room, and printed pictures of fish she can put in it plus voucher for buying fish from pet shop.
Having been your dad I would really recommend anything to keep her warm, heated slippers etc, then a journal, some nice aromatherapy oils book and diffuser, and some self care things like hair masks etc I promise you recovery is possible, I was hospitalised at that age so your post spoke to me. I'm now 37 with 2 dds, great job and I am genuinely happy.

Thank you for posting this. I was looking at the Oodies website and no stock until after Christmas. Except for two styles!

simbobs · 22/11/2020 09:14

I looked at Oodies but found that they weren't shipping until after Christmas, so I found kudd.ly (spelled like that) hoodie blanket instead. I bought one for DS as well as DD as they are ideal for students doing their online studies from poorly heated rooms. I am also interested in the Bubble Tea Kit for DD but the one I found say that they are not strictly vegan. I wonder how obvious this is on the packaging, or whether there is a vegan alternative. I am reluctant to buy anything that I would not use myself if it is gifted back to me.

ClaireP20 · 22/11/2020 09:22

Victoria secret have a sale on now, I bought a 'carry/makeup box'. Could be anything though, just a lovely box with handles. I bought some victoria secret shower gel and lotion to go in it. I then went to boots and bought some make up and wrapped it individually. A mirror (from b&m stores) which plays music via bluetooth (about £20). A superdry hoodie (oversized one). I will buy her a pair of black and white vans but still saving up for them! Nice pj's and thick slipper socks. Xx
