Thread 20 - the one with the reminder to put the bargain info *in bold*

Reastie · 15/11/2020 21:49

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

@kingat the same thing happened to me on Amazon 2 for £7 when using my phone- but it worked when I used my laptop? Might be worth a try if you haven't already

thaegumathteth · 18/11/2020 23:34

La reroute have their Black Friday deals on but I'm guessing that's no use for what you need?

slithytoveisascientist · 18/11/2020 23:41

I ordered Christmas pyjamas from Matalan last Friday and they still haven’t taken the payment or dispatched the order. Suspect I won’t get it.

IveBeenGood · 18/11/2020 23:44

Hey,

I’m looking for a gift for my in-laws in Ireland. Ideally I want to buy something from an Irish retailer - I’ve looked at Mcellhenneys (unsure of spelling!), but not quite finding what I’m looking for. I think we’d like to do a hamper of Irish goodies, so if anyone has any recommendations please let me know.

Thanks.

lolarabbit · 18/11/2020 23:45

@Bridecilla - if you wanted sweet treats but not necessarily chocolate you could look on Yumbles website. For example this selection of cake/biscuits
There may be smaller selections there that might work for your neighbours @1stTimeMama - I'm in that age group and I would love someone to give me cake 🍰

fogginghell · 18/11/2020 23:56

This is going way back but I remember someone asking about the jute (Christmas prints ) bags at sea salt and they were not available to order then.

Just checked and they are available , 2 for £10 and gorgeous prints.

My local high street independent toy shop has what looks like at least 10% off on toys. Free delivery on orders over £50.

Piccola toy shop

They sell lovely high quality toys and children's clothing too.

How about something from Butlers Chocolates? Really good chocolate (I still remember having the best hot choc and a selection of chocolates from their counter in their Dublin cafe many years ago!), and they do a build a hamper
StarfishSleeper · 19/11/2020 00:09

Thanks for responding thaegumathteth
I've just seen some really pretty fitted cot sheets but can't justify buying them just because they are pretty rather than functional, if you see what I mean... Free delivery code could swing the balance!

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 19/11/2020 00:13

@StarfishSleeper try LOYAL20 for La Redoute.

22Giraffes · 19/11/2020 00:14

@1sttimemama Sainsburys had a kids Christmas onsie when I went in yesterday, I think it was navy with red Santa's on it, can't remember 100%! It was regular material (as in not fleecey) with poppers up the front but they had sizes up to 9-10 yrs.

73kittycat73 · 19/11/2020 00:18

Is anybody else having problems buying from Argos? I add item to trolley, go to trolley, sign in, Continue with delivery...Then it goes to a red page and something about something going wrong and gives the option to go back to the site, or back to trolley. I've tried in Microsoft Edge and Firefox.
Anybody else, or is it just me?

Rockhopper81 · 19/11/2020 00:20

@BalaamsAss - not three clocks that are linked, but if you didn't mind individual clocks, I've just bought this pocket watch wall clock from The Range for my dad. I thought it was a bit different than a 'big standard' clock. It's a reasonable size though, so it might be a struggle to fit three together on a wall. And at £20 a clock, it's not particularly bargainous. And it might not fit a period-style property. So all round might be a swing and a miss, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway!

Thank you Banoffie, will try amazon on my laptop tomorrow (if I can remember password ;))

wibdib · 19/11/2020 00:44

@73kittycat73 it’s not just you - we were trying to order something from them earlier this evening and had exactly the same problem with Argos.

Thank you for your reply. Smile I suppose we'll have to try again tomorrow? I hope they sort it out soon.
Thanks again.

StarfishSleeper · 19/11/2020 00:57

thanks @IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile - funny thing, I tried the code and the discounted item I had in the basket went to full price! I'm taking it as a sign to reign in, log off and get some sleep ;)

Bluebell9 · 19/11/2020 03:04

I've missed so many threads!

Jelly Bean Factory 1.4kg tub is currently £10 on amazon usually £16.99 and I got it on 15% for a first time subscribe and save so it cost £8!

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 19/11/2020 05:33

I just bought the jelly beans but for some reason the voucher took it down to £6.50 for me, I’m not sure why? Delivery not until 10th December though.

snowmanshoes · 19/11/2020 05:34

@whoknows1230

Has anyone ordered from Matalan recently? I want to buy Xmas pjs but need them here for 1st Dec and it’s saying up to 10 working days for click and collect. I was wondering if they are being cautious and people are getting things more quickly?
I’ve ordered a couple of click and collect orders - 1st one did take about 7/8 days but the most recent one not even 48hours! Delivery to home on the other hand was two weeks!
GoblinDaughter · 19/11/2020 06:15

I haven’t caught up on the post yet (on page 31) but is it aldi carrot day? Our local store opens at 8am and I could actually be there for opening if DH did the school run, then there’s another one 5 minutes away I could go straight to if no luck in that one. I’ve evaded it all in previous years DD is now 4 and really quite keen this year.

BalaamsAss · 19/11/2020 06:29

@IveBeenGood check out the Avoca website. Not particularly bargainous I’m afraid - I don’t think there are any codes right now other than for clothes - but it’s an Irish company I would always support. Their stuff is gorgeous and ranges from the most beautiful throws (the company started out as a mill, and expanded into shops and cafes, but the mill is still a huge part of it) to clothes, to kitchen stuff, to food, (their cafes are amazing) to lots of gorgeous gifty stuff. Not everything they sell is their own stuff - as in, they sell other brands too, but they are definitely worth checking out, and worth supporting because they have been hit hard over lockdown here in Ireland as all the cafes which are a huge source of revenue for them, have been closed or on tight restrictions. They have done a recent collaboration with someone on a candle (can’t remember who) and also have a TCD collaboration which is available through the TCD shop. (I guess only really relevant if your inlaws went to Trinity!)

BalaamsAss · 19/11/2020 06:32

Thanks @Rockhopper81. The style and price are ok, but I really want a set which is mounted on a backboard because I need the names of the places underneath and I don’t want to have to buy name plates separately. Thanks though, I really appreciate it.

WisestIsShe · 19/11/2020 06:32

Molton brown 25% off with code BF25 available until Sunday

WisestIsShe · 19/11/2020 06:34

@GoblinDaughter the Aldi catalogue says "in store dates vary" so you might just have to pop in and see. Sorry.
