Thread 20 - the one with the reminder to put the bargain info *in bold*

Reastie · 15/11/2020 21:49

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

@NoWordForFluffy colorland - noted I've never found groupon that useful but I've not tried them for a few years so maybe have a look again, thanks for tip on who NOT to use re calendar - such tips just as important as the recommendations I think and are hardly going to be on the company's site!

@Littlemissindecisiveagain think I've used photobox in the past

@bookish83 another vote for photobox and snapfish I've heard of

Scrunchies not liked by recipient but I'll take a look at the invisi bobbles I've heard of them

@Fueledwithfairydustandgin Thanks - that looks the kind of thing I was thinking of bobble wise, might get a pack of those and a pack of invisi bobbles so she can try both. Amazon basket filling up fast!

@Scout2016 Re bonusprint - thanks I'll have a look. I'd like a decent quality though as it's a gift I wouldn't worry so much of it were for me

Got a basket of fat face bits (new company to me) as it's one of my cashback options

ASOS basket awaits if anyone has a code? I'd be very grateful

Can anyone recommend a battery operated moving cat of some sort, please? It's for a 6yo who would really love a real one, but has asked Father Christmas for a battery one as the next best thing. Thanks, if anyone has any suggestions!

noodledoodler · 17/11/2020 18:46

@BeaLola a metallic pen would work, even better if you glaze it first, a spray glaze is best but pva/water glaze would do at a push

BeaLola · 17/11/2020 18:50

Needing to buy a present for friends GC - baby girl who will either be a brand new baby at Christmas or still cooking .... I am thinking baby blanket from White Company or the pretty muslins that I see mentioned on MN - no idea what would be best as my DS arrived very cooked at 4

I would like it to be a gift that gets used - I'm not wanting to do clothes as think that's more personal al and it is first child &GC on both sides so lots of things already bought .

applepinkierainbow · 17/11/2020 18:52

@weebarra I had the same dilemma last year and needed to buy two - one for a 4 and one for 6 year old. I was recommended hair dresser ones but they freaked me out - they would be better for an older child as they offer lots more styling possibilities. We have the John Adams one and also have the Baby born sister which I prefer as the hair is a bit longer so they can do more with it. The Baby Born was in the Argos sale and much cheaper than it is currently. I bought extra cheap eyeshadow/multicoloured contouring sets from the clearance section of TKMaxx (the kind you look and are unsurprised no-one ever bought!) to go with them and they love these on the dolls.

BigBadBox · 17/11/2020 18:56

@0ttoline We had battery cats from B&M last year, there were several colours and they're still meowing now.

Lynx cracker is £10 in superdrug reduced from £15 great present for the early teenage boys**

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 17/11/2020 19:00

@Graphista I find the invisibibbles aren’t strong enough for my hair. They just stretched and then gave up Grin

StarfishSleeper · 17/11/2020 19:06

Not been able to read through thread today so not sure if mentioned before but free Belgian chocolates with vodaphone rewards - i'll put my code on the vodaphone codes thread now if anyone wants it

this is the thread i look forward to of an evening! hopefully i'll be able to contribute a bit more than just vodaphone deals ;)

Sunshineskies · 17/11/2020 19:13

Does anyone know of any codes for the works and hobbycraft?

Thank you for the December 1st box ideas for dd 16 Flowers I now have more ordered for her than the younger ones! Grin.

JuiceyBetty · 17/11/2020 19:14

@BeaLola I always get extra large muslin cloths for new babies- this one from JoJo is cute. I love Aden and Anais ones, but they're more pricey. 10 year old DS still sleeps with one he's had since newborn!

And jellycats are 20% off at John Lewis at the moment.

Honestly not for many boys.

Not seen tats et but deodorant that costs £1 in the pound shop put in a cracker doesn't make it a gift.

Would you like a roll on deodorant or toothpaste as a gift? It is a necessity.

Lynx sets were the bane of our teenagers years- all donated to charity

Chocolateteabag · 17/11/2020 19:20

@bealola - I would second some really nice muslins - they are so useful.
Baby blankets could also be a bit "personal" or just go unused if there is already one from closer family.

An alternative could be clothes in size 3-6 months - a set of vests or White company pyjamas? You tend to get lots of newborn clothes (which hardly get worn as they live in sleepsuits) but not so much for the next size up?

handmademitlove · 17/11/2020 19:20

@Ottoline have a look at purrfect pets - they are not so much toys but my grandma had a few and my kids loved stroking them as they are so realistic!

bluesky · 17/11/2020 19:21

@bealola these little star blanket wraps are gorgeous and really snuggly

Free next day delivery at Boohoo using code PRIZE and selecting next day delivery at checkout. Only valid between 6-9pm tonight. Apparently they also have 30% off everything

@bookish83 & @myhobbyisouting I did let superfood bakery know that my banana bread mix was rancid and they did confirm that it is the banana chips that are the rancid element, they also refunded me for that mix, so I'm pretty sure that all the other will be fine.

sugarplumfairy2010 · 17/11/2020 19:36

Thank you i went for the nutcracker ones from next. Now looking for spiced rum minatures for my dh stocking if anyone can help.

PinkJam · 17/11/2020 19:36

@BeaLola If you do decide on something from The White Company, they usually do good discounts on Black Friday (they have the “white weekend”)

Little Dutch do some really nice stuff, there’s a little activity book that can attach to the pram or a wooden shape sorter. You can buy the brand through Scandiborn. You can get 15% off anything at Scandiborn with code: LUISA

Or Aden and Anais do beautiful dream blankets which are really thick and can be put on the floor for Baby to do tummy time. They have a sale on at the moment too.

myhobbyisouting · 17/11/2020 19:36

Ok thank you. I'll bin the banana mix and try the rest then

sugarplumfairy2010 · 17/11/2020 19:40

@BeaLola do you know the name of the baby? There's a lovely shop called Little doodle House who make personalised swaddle blankets and leggings.

Chocolateteabag · 17/11/2020 19:41

DSIS has just announced she would like a Sodastream - I'm sure I saw one in Aldi the other week but it's already gone from their website

Any suggestions?

Thank you that is really helpful. So what I am not used to is healthier baking mix tastes GrinGrin

Can anyone help me with some little extras for my dd (12) all she ever asks for is a loaf of bread, wanted to get some silly bread related gifts for her stocking any ideas??

Or any ideas im really struggling this year especially as shes got a birthday this week too! She loves kawaii, playing games (on her phone), cats, sloths, five nights at freddys, anything gothic/horror themed. Shes not interested in makeup, or face masks/bath bombs etc.

DH already has all the consoles and laptop she has access to if she wants to and she has a phone/earphones.
