Thread 20 - the one with the reminder to put the bargain info *in bold*

Reastie · 15/11/2020 21:49

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

NoWordForFluffy · 17/11/2020 06:37

@Winterfellismyhome, it's likely discontinued, hence being OoS / not sold anymore everywhere. If you particularly want it, you'll have to grab it where you can.

BalaamsAss · 17/11/2020 06:38

Thank you to everyone who responded re: Redbubble. The good news is that I have ordered the cushion. The bad news is that I didn’t get any discount.

I found several discount codes online, and also tried the one the mnetter sent me. I also downloaded the app (which reduced the cost of postage for some reason but didn’t change the price of the item), but nothing worked. I kept getting a message saying that the voucher code wasn’t applicable to my postage location. (Or words to that effect.) It was so utterly bizarre, and I kind of wanted to stamp my feet and refuse to order because I’m fed up of missing out on deals or offers because of living in Northern Ireland, but the cushion was only available there and it (should be) perfect for DS, so I gave in and ordered anyway. I’m hoping if it’s crap quality I’ll be able to get a refund and then I guess I’ll have to start the hunt again.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/11/2020 06:40

@Graphista, we've had lovely calendars from Colorland before. In fact, this year's are particularly nice (and the standard, non-upgraded, paper is good quality, unlike some). We always buy through Groupon etc.

Groupon Colorland deal here.

PinkDaydreams · 17/11/2020 06:48
@Bananadoor we got a Vileda Windomatic earlier this year and I'm generally happy with it. It has a good battery life after charging it. The water tank is easy to remove, but needs emptying daily ideally, as when you have to turn it horizontally to get the bottom of the window it can leak. It has two suction levels, and the suction is good even on the lower setting.

@PinkDaydreams a dehumidifier is on my list to get on Black Friday! Can I ask what model you have please? There's so much choice! And do you move it around the house or leave it in one place?

@Puffalicious ah I'm glad it was of use to someone! I'm very tempted to buy a pair myself - they look so warm and cosy!
I had the meaco Zambezi but it broke so replaced it with the smaller meaco ABC, it was cheaper than the Zambezi but does the exact same thing. Only thing is that the water tank is smaller but I empty it regularly anyway. Can I recommend you but it from John Lewis and take out the added accidental damage care. It's only around £10 for the cover but if you damage it accidentally within two years then they either repair/replace/refund.

Twilightstarbright · 17/11/2020 06:50

I have a 25% off code for Matalan if someone wants it? To be used by Sunday.

Lockdownlumpy · 17/11/2020 07:01

Id love a matalan code please @twilightstarbright

nicky2512 · 17/11/2020 07:02

Bananadoor I love my karcher window vac. I got a new smaller blade for mine for small panes (Amazon) but I bought my dad a vac on prime day and it came with both sizes of blade.
Be careful as one of the cheaper sets had the blade fixed and unchangeable.

Theimpossiblegirl · 17/11/2020 07:04

I peaked to soon and have run out of steam. Need to go through my haul and make a list for the last push on Black Friday.

Littlemissindecisiveagain · 17/11/2020 07:18

@Graphista I would recommend Photobox, I have had mine from there for a few years. Last year I had an slight issue but they replaced immediately. They tend to do offers every quite regularly so work waiting for one.

thelegohooverer · 17/11/2020 07:18

Sale at the KILKENNY SHOP for Irish Mumsnetters.

bookish83 · 17/11/2020 07:30

@Graphista

I know I'm late to the party but hoping you guys will be happy to help

I need recommendation (from prior experience please) of a good reliable good quality PHOTO CALENDAR (don't wanna bold and confuse people) I can personalise retailer please

Also AirPods I am considering though they are very expensive - do we think Black Friday will bring them down in price anywhere at all?

@bookish83 thanks for the ASOS tip perfect for dd - only I can't find a "winter wins" section?

Can anyone recommend/signpost me to stocking filler pack of hair ties but for thick curly hair? Usually give her some from primark but that's not an option this year and to be honest when I did that I'd get her a few packs as they'd only last 2 or 3 goes anyway before breaking

Plain black if poss as she has to tie hair back for work

I've added some books thanks to this thread too

I had no idea there were Xmas organisational apps! I'm struggling working across 2 notebooks and memo app on phone and haven't got it all in one place! Trying Santa's bag

@Mumto3thatsme that's reminded me I'm with Halifax and they do something similar called "everyday offers" gets you cashback

I've selected a couple just now that I know I'll use

I'm struggling to find pj's short style satin in small size too - they're all size 10 plus which is way too big!

@SilkieAndMoonface re board games I had a lot of success with dd when she was younger going retro - pop-o-matic games were especially popular as was mousetrap and game of life - just an idea? Or maybe articulate or Pictionary? Operation?

@Carrie76 M&S actually have a couple of nice day to page diaries, department type stores can be quite good for those if you're not finding any you need in stationery retailers loads on amazon too I'm feeling maybe it's the search term you're struggling with try "day to a page diary" or "page a day"

I've looked and the section has gone from my app now... been replaced by 25% off for students if you can get a code??

Filtering 'gifts' by price might give you the same options as yesterday. Asos are always doing discounts... you will definitely see them pop up especially if you have the app.

I did a quick search for satin shorts on there but don't think they were small enough. And one looked a bit racyBlush

Re calendars... i have never made one but have always been pleased with photobox, snapfish, and more recently, optimal print.
Usually codes floating around too!

bookish83 · 17/11/2020 07:32

@Graphista

Hair ties

These are meant to be good and certainly
stronger than the basic ones you get like in the £1 packs. A lot rate them as they don't kink your hair

Personally with curly or thick hair I'd use a scrunchie!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/11/2020 07:33

One calendar company to AVOID is Printerpix. Really low quality paper unless you upgrade and not great quality printing either.

thelegohooverer · 17/11/2020 07:42

35% off bed linen and a free throw at linenbundle.ie
Also free shipping in Ireland (haven’t checked U.K. shipping costs)

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 17/11/2020 07:48

@Graphista I have thick curly hair and bought these bobbles and I absolutely love them. I’ve tried so many previously and the weight of my hair Either snaps them or my buns won’t stay where I want them
bobbles

Lovemusic33 · 17/11/2020 07:57

Thanks for the vodaphone tip off, I now have a nice collection of vodaphone freebe’s. These chocolates will be perfect for my step mum.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 17/11/2020 08:00

Thank you very much @Legume

ShandlersWig · 17/11/2020 08:00

OopsUpsideYerHead

I second Ikea tumblers, ours are 10 years old!

Twilightstarbright · 17/11/2020 08:05

@Lockdownlumpy just PMed it to you

tootsnwoocake · 17/11/2020 08:11
@NoWordForFluffy it was me that was looking for a matalan code. I got some bits on the 50% quidco cashback (not that it tracked. I’ve had to open an appeal) but i still have other bits that i’m holding out for a code for.

Thanks for the switch heads up, got one in my local store today.
I set up a second account with Matalan using a new email address very recently and they just sent me a code for 25% off online or in store. Might be worth a try

PatchworkElmer · 17/11/2020 08:23

Joules have started their Black Friday event. Just got some nice bits to put away for DS.

Lellyo · 17/11/2020 08:27
@Lellyo my Aldi milk frother has been used at least twice daily since March 23rd - it's simple to use and clean - Definitely worth it for £20!
@chocolateteabag thank you for this....think I’ll go ahead and order.

Theonlyoneiknow · 17/11/2020 08:28

buttonmoonloon sorry you missed it. I had two and used one just before midnight. :( Will let you know if any others come through

slithytoveisascientist · 17/11/2020 08:31

@Clementine8 my Matalan order didn’t track either which I’m very frustrated by as I would have returned the items if the cash back failed - but now it’ll take 6 months apparently
