Thread 20 - the one with the reminder to put the bargain info *in bold*

Reastie · 15/11/2020 21:49

please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

My son has asked for Copic markers for Christmas, they’re about £6-7 each! Any ideas where I could find them cheaper?

thaegumathteth · 16/11/2020 22:50

@Whyisitsodifficult range plus have them for £33.64 for 12? any use? I haven't used them myself so apologies if wrong thing!

Theonlyoneiknow · 16/11/2020 22:50

Bit last minute. £7 off £50 spend at Argos to be used by midnight. Please post if you use it :)

@Bananadoor we got a karcher last year for condensation and it's been great, also use it in the bathroom following showers. Doesn't have a very big collection tank so have to empty it every day. Also the blade is too wide to go "sideways" along our trap window so we have to do several sweeps down - not a problem but would be if we had more small paned windows

Clementine8 · 16/11/2020 23:00

@NoWordForFluffy it was me that was looking for a matalan code. I got some bits on the 50% quidco cashback (not that it tracked. I’ve had to open an appeal) but i still have other bits that i’m holding out for a code for.

Thanks for the switch heads up, got one in my local store today.

DinosaurOfFire · 16/11/2020 23:04

@Whyisitsodifficult Do you know which ones he has asked for, the Ciao ones tend to be a bit cheaper but have a much smaller barrel and hold less ink than the Sketch ones, so if he does a lot of marker art they will need refilling more frequently. Places like www.jacksonsart.com/ www.graphicsdirect.co.uk and theartshopskipton.co.uk/ have some, mainly the ciao but Jacksons had Sketch markers on their site too. They are worth it though if he is serious about art and illustration. I use promarkers personally, which are cheaper but still good quality, but Copics have a brush nib on one end which Promarkers don't.

friskybivalves · 16/11/2020 23:11

@Notlongnow1 I think Jellycat have a decent dragon? A 'small bashful dragon' is £11.19 on temptation gifts ATM (that's a 20% discount). It's green and v cute.

uniqlo · 16/11/2020 23:11

@Bananadoor we got a Vileda Windomatic earlier this year and I'm generally happy with it. It has a good battery life after charging it. The water tank is easy to remove, but needs emptying daily ideally, as when you have to turn it horizontally to get the bottom of the window it can leak. It has two suction levels, and the suction is good even on the lower setting.

@PinkDaydreams a dehumidifier is on my list to get on Black Friday! Can I ask what model you have please? There's so much choice! And do you move it around the house or leave it in one place?

@Puffalicious ah I'm glad it was of use to someone! I'm very tempted to buy a pair myself - they look so warm and cosy!

Puffalicious · 16/11/2020 23:35

Fingers crossed for us both Coffeeand Ennui

Puffalicious · 16/11/2020 23:38

Uniqlo they do indeed and I love that the ones I fancy are washable. DH had better get them ordered!

TheLastStarfighter · 17/11/2020 00:00

@Whyisitsodifficult Copic is a brand name. if you search for “dual tip alcohol markers” you’ll find plenty of generic ones like this set of 80 in a case for £29 with reasonable reviews.

Be aware that the paper makes a difference too. You need reasonable thick paper for best results.

I tried it but it’s expired unfortunately- it needed to be used before the 16th

If anyone else has one I’d be very grateful!

I am looking for some reasonably priced small glass tumblers, dishwasher safe, thickish glass not thin and not easily breakable, something patterned not just plain glass. Has anyone seen any around please?

I have attached a picture of the kind we currently have which we only have a couple of left. They were around £2 each from the range I think and have served us well. They are just for everyday use so nothing fancy.

This is a great thread BTW, I’ll be posting if I come across any voucher codes or bargains!

OopsUpsideYerHead · 17/11/2020 00:30

Oops forgot to add pic of the glasses we currently have now!

I’ve just ordered some great glasses from Hema

fogginghell · 17/11/2020 00:52

@OopsUpsideYerHead I've got some from home bargains for £1 each, like a crystal cut style. I'll send a pic tomorrow as I'm in bed right now 😊

OopsUpsideYerHead · 17/11/2020 00:55

@ButtonMoonLoon & @fogginghell - Thank you both for your replies. 🙂

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 17/11/2020 01:00

@OopsUpsideYerHead Asda also have quite a selection of surprisingly nice and super cheap glassware. Chunky enough to last but still delicate enough for every day use.

OopsUpsideYerHead · 17/11/2020 01:11

Thank you @IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile - I’ll have a look at Asda too. 👍

evangelinej · 17/11/2020 01:30

@RelightMyPfizer I don't know if anyone has replied about the make up yet? But morphe is pretty inexpensive for the amount of shades you get per palette. I'd say it's decent for teens, it has a few celeb colabs on there too!

Givealittlebit · 17/11/2020 01:46

Wondering what effect covid and lockdowns are going to have on Black Friday! Only have a few bits left to get but can't decide if it's worth waiting or just getting them ordered now

thaegumathteth · 17/11/2020 04:30

asda have the Roblox annual for £4 and as part of their 342 offer

Famousthehero · 17/11/2020 06:11

I know I'm late to the party but hoping you guys will be happy to help

I need recommendation (from prior experience please) of a good reliable good quality PHOTO CALENDAR (don't wanna bold and confuse people) I can personalise retailer please

Also AirPods I am considering though they are very expensive - do we think Black Friday will bring them down in price anywhere at all?

@bookish83 thanks for the ASOS tip perfect for dd - only I can't find a "winter wins" section?

Can anyone recommend/signpost me to stocking filler pack of hair ties but for thick curly hair? Usually give her some from primark but that's not an option this year and to be honest when I did that I'd get her a few packs as they'd only last 2 or 3 goes anyway before breaking

Plain black if poss as she has to tie hair back for work

I've added some books thanks to this thread too

I had no idea there were Xmas organisational apps! I'm struggling working across 2 notebooks and memo app on phone and haven't got it all in one place! Trying Santa's bag

@Mumto3thatsme that's reminded me I'm with Halifax and they do something similar called "everyday offers" gets you cashback

I've selected a couple just now that I know I'll use

I'm struggling to find pj's short style satin in small size too - they're all size 10 plus which is way too big!

@SilkieAndMoonface re board games I had a lot of success with dd when she was younger going retro - pop-o-matic games were especially popular as was mousetrap and game of life - just an idea? Or maybe articulate or Pictionary? Operation?

@Carrie76 M&S actually have a couple of nice day to page diaries, department type stores can be quite good for those if you're not finding any you need in stationery retailers loads on amazon too I'm feeling maybe it's the search term you're struggling with try "day to a page diary" or "page a day"
