please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Here’s Barbarara’s instructions from last year on doing clicky links:

Open double square brackets
No space
Paste link
Space
Name of link
No space
Close double square brackets

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

For more links etc see message 2

If any link doesn’t work or you want to add something please let me know by @ing me Thanks

Thanks @sorryiasked - seems like that might be a winner! The others are so tiddly. Guess we missed the height of the doc mcstuffins popularity

foilflower · 14/11/2020 16:58

@Threeoleary

I'm wondering if anyone has bought a light box for drawing/tracing. I have an 11 yr old in mind who I'm sure would love one but most are powered by usb. The child doesn't have a phone and shares the family laptop so I really need it to be mains powered.
We have a Crayola one which takes normal batteries. My 7 year old loves it.
FrenchieMum2Be · 14/11/2020 16:59

Brilliant, that's exactly what I was looking for @AndddddHerewegoagain

Purpleheadgirl · 14/11/2020 16:59

Smiggle advent calendar is down to £16 I believe until Tuesday

RelightMyPfizer · 14/11/2020 17:01

@Avoca76

Does anyone know the best way to buy Lego mini figures? I have a big starter box of Lego and want to add some figures. Doesn’t matter if they are second hand. Is eBay the best place?
loads are fake on eBay- you might get 2nd hand from a non professional seller

Threeoleary · 14/11/2020 17:04

@foilflower, I've seen that one online but wonder if it looks too young for an 11year old?

Threeoleary · 14/11/2020 17:05

@gigglingHyena, thank you. I'm going to expand my search.

RelightMyPfizer · 14/11/2020 17:05

A lego advent calendar would gave a few lego mini figures in- the prices often drop mid December

CompleteBarstool · 14/11/2020 17:15

House of Disaster Outlet has a further 20% off with code EXTOUT20.

I've not bought from them but there's some quirky bits and the lamps look as if they'd be great for kids rooms (cat, dinosaur, flamingo etc) and would come down to around £20 (originally £35)

margaritasbythesea · 14/11/2020 17:33

AndddddHerewegoagain and Carrie76 thanks for those recommendations. I'll have a loom and go for one or the other.

@cloudatlaschapter2, the Manhattan Toy Baby Stella twins come with dummies.

icedaisy · 14/11/2020 17:45

Wondered if anyone has any ideas.

I usually get my parents theatre trip and hotel, they have not even managed last years yet.maybe spend 300, with sister.

I looked at craft gin, that's about 440 a year, so 220 each I suppose.

Mums just recovered from an illness and I don't mind treating them as they are good to us. Do all my sisters childcare.

Anyone seen any cool theatre ideas, would love to support in these times. They are huge drama, film and theatre people.

Or Is there a better way to do craft gin?

margaritasbythesea · 14/11/2020 17:47

EBay have somee Black Friday deals. I know some people were looking for Victoria's Secret perfumes. One of the offers is thus pack down to £20.99 from £34.99

Ice daisy
How about a bi monthly craft gin so six boxes over course of year - we do this, and I so recommend the boxes, they are such a treat. Well worth the money if they like gin.

But then also do a six month flower subscription with Bloom and Wild - I posted discount links earlier in thread. We have done this as gift in the past and was big hit.
Means they keep having treats being delivered which is very cheery!!

And / Or a chocolate bar one, Lovecocoa is about £10.a month for three bars. I think you can get discount on first month. Not used but saw recommended

Meant to add about theatre
RSC have special online events if subscriber or patron, one costs about £20 a year, one about £50. If they use zoom, they might really like being able to access these and know they are supporting rsc.

Some are online

I bought tickets for the Old Vic Christmas Carol in camera this week for £10 for the whole family to watch on 24th December. The ticket area different priced but you get the same view- it is how much you want to donate. I am a member and didn't really feel guilty about going for the cheapest

www.oldvictheatre.com

The Old Vic has been live streaming for a few months - so each performance is being done as you watch.

I wouldn't do gin -2 years ago we had almost 50 bottles of gin- all well-meaning gifts and lots quite frankly really poor. I gave 35 of the away (many unopened ) and it was the best thing ever. We now have 10 open bottles- all different and really enjoy them. each is different and each is a quality gin. We save one slot on rotation (noting less than 37%)

This is our house gin , I can't recommend it enough. A lot of craft gins are gin liquors- not gin.

RJnomore1 · 14/11/2020 18:18

@icedaisy you can do craft gin club two or 3 monthly rather than every month. It doesn’t send liquerseither it’s always a gin and with the magazine of the story and recipes for cocktails, mixers and syrups included and some snacks it’s a lovely box to get.

I send myself one every quarter 😁

Lovemusic33 can I ask what diamond art is (apologies for being dense - it's my age )

IfyoushouldmeetaCrocodile · 14/11/2020 18:32

Thank you for all the gaming chair recommendations, one thing we definitely don't have is space or the budget for anything fancy I went for a beanbag style gaming chair in the end from very, seemed good value with good reviews and can double up when he's watching TV.

Hophop26 · 14/11/2020 18:42

For those with milk frothers, any idea if the Aldi or Lidl one is better? Both are coming on special buy at the same time

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 14/11/2020 18:44

@sycamorescrumptious I got the smaller set of Gravitrax for £25 which is half the size of the large starter pack, so it was cheaper to buy two of those even with the discount on the larger set. It may reduce again on black Friday?

It’s a bit like painting by numbers but you stick small plastic diamonds onto numbers. I think it’s called “diamond painting”.
