please post any bargain info IN BOLD to make it easier to scroll through the thread.

To make things bold you:
Put a star each side of what you want to make bold like this but without the space between the star and the writing *

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Like this
[[www.amazingbargains.com bargain ]] but with no space after/before the brackets.
If I do it again without the extra spaces only the word bargain will appear in blue

I'm wondering if anyone has bought a light box for drawing/tracing. I have an 11 yr old in mind who I'm sure would love one but most are powered by usb. The child doesn't have a phone and shares the family laptop so I really need it to be mains powered.

Bezzi · 14/11/2020 15:13

@whoknows2 I got that for my DS for £35 from Argos after it was on one of these earlier threads.
Amazon price matched it at the same time. Maybe it will go back down on Black Friday?

My other DS has the velociraptor version of this toy and although it doesn't do anything (I had the same reservations as you!) it is well loved and played with loads! He even takes it to bed with him

Bezzi · 14/11/2020 15:16

@whoknows2 Bargain max did have it for £42 but it's out of stock. Might be worth registering your email address for them to notify you if it comes back in stock here

@Lovemusic33 Gravitrax is a big hit in this household. Haven't played with it much myself but definitely killed a few lockdown afternoons for my older primary DC

Thank you, I have persuade her dad to buy it for her, seemed a good deal for the starter pack and it’s something she can spend her Christmas money on, I’m sure she will love it.

The USB goes into a charger plug (like a phone charger), I have a light box for doing diamond art.

@Friedbanana at least your DH is easy to please if he likes buying bread and likes getting cans out of the fridge 😂

Mini fridge of cans it is!

AndddddHerewegoagain · 14/11/2020 15:28

Tesco have 3 for 2 on selected lego. On the lego boost as well

slithytoveisascientist · 14/11/2020 15:31

@Puffalicious I have these and they are great. Have a microphone too so I use them for in car calling. Bought a set for my husband and mum.

Mumto3thatsme · 14/11/2020 15:32

I know it’s cheeky but if anyone has an Argos code would be much appreciated, thankyou 🤞🏻

EnglishRose1320 · 14/11/2020 15:34

Thanks @AndddddHerewegoagain, I might pop to the nearest big store and have a look, not sure I could justify getting more than one lego set though.

Anydreamwilldo12 · 14/11/2020 15:38

@Tailrunner thanks for the boot buddy recommendation, just bought two and a paw buddy too. The boot buddy's I bought was reduced to £12.99 so a little saving there.

@lolarabbit

On the cake mixes topic (sorry if it's been done to death now), I'm not sure what in the ingredients could be rancid. Only the dry ingredients are included, any fat/milk/egg and in this case fresh banana you add yourself. Haven't made that particular mix (I will despite the email) but the cranberry oat biscuits were great.
We’ve made five out of the ten mixes so far (not the banana yet but I will) and they’re all ok. Odd texture but I guess that’s because they’re gluten free. The lemon and poppy seed loaf is delicious if a bit ‘close’ textured and not light and airy. I wouldn’t hesitate to give them as gifts to a coeliac recipient if that’s what they were intended for.

Beanies are doing a free jar of coffee if you spend £10. Or if you sign up to their newsletter 10% off, they don't stack though

sycamorescrumptious · 14/11/2020 15:57

Oh no have I missed the gravitrax offer? It seems to £48 on Amazon now or am I looking in the wrong place?

noodledoodler · 14/11/2020 15:57

Code BEKIND sorry

Mahonia · 14/11/2020 15:59

Afternoon bargain hunters!
Does anyone have a discount code kicking about for Hawkins Bazaar? I have somehow ended up filling my basket with £58 worth of tat stuff and it's an additional £4.99 for delivery too! Many thanks in advance!

TheLastStarfighter · 14/11/2020 16:05

Thanks @icanboogieboogiewoogie, I’ll look her up.

@whoknows2 I noticed IKEA have a load of dinosaur stuff - some quite big soft toys, a wooden multi-level play set, cushions, rugs.

Threeoleary · 14/11/2020 16:06

@Lovemusic33 thank you so much and sorry for being dense! I've spent hours searching and discounting boxes. Blush

Lovemusic33 · 14/11/2020 16:08

It was the bigger starter kit, reduced from £99 to £68.99 on BLACKFRIDAY early deals. I think some of the add on kits are reduced slightly but not much. I bought the started kit and 2 add ins for £88.99.
Lovemusic33 · 14/11/2020 16:09

gravitrax

buckeejit · 14/11/2020 16:15

@Friedbanana would your dh like a velvetiser? I bought my dh one last year & the whole house loves it

Avoca76 · 14/11/2020 16:42

Does anyone know the best way to buy Lego mini figures? I have a big starter box of Lego and want to add some figures. Doesn’t matter if they are second hand. Is eBay the best place?

woodwaj · 14/11/2020 16:49

@whoknows2 I bought that for DS last year. He isnt dinosaur mad but he does like it a lot. Its well played with. I got it for £30 via amazon but then it dropped to 27 I think at argos. I 100% wouldnt pay more than 30 for it.

gigglingHyena · 14/11/2020 16:55

@Threeoleary you can plug in the USB light boxes using a wall plug /phone charger, doesn't need to go into a laptop or anything. Ours came with the plug although depending where we use it it sometimes we borrow a longer phone charging cable.

I don't know the brand of ours, theres no details on it and it was a gift. At a guess probably Amazon and around £20. It doesn't get used loads but it has been useful for Art coursework.
