Card games for student - Not Cards Against Humanity b

Hi I want to send a little something to a student relative who is stuck in halls. Was thinking something he and pals could play as they have apparently been enjoying brutal games of Uno. Not Cards against Humanity as potentially offensive. Don't know if there are any Top Trumps that are 'in' for young adults? Or similar games?
Posting in Christmas for traffic plus responses might help others trying To buy for this difficult age group.

I bought CAH and my DS (now 20) point blank refused to play it " I'm not playing this with my Mother "

DD (18) and I did have a quick shifty through the cards and yes , some are offensive .

I'm looking at Exploding Kittens if I can fathom the rules Xmas Blush

Another vote for Exploding Kittens. There is also an expansion pack called Imploding Kittens.

Fluxx is also great and you can get themed versions, I've just bought DH a Monty Python themed deck.

Gloom is an interesting one as you can make up
All kinds of ridiculous tales.

Phase 10! Me and my husband are obsessed. Can easily be made into a drinking game too which is a plus for a student. Very very fun!

ifiwasascent · 03/10/2020 18:49

Also it's from the makers of UNO!

OytheBumbler · 03/10/2020 18:50

This is awesome and it's pretty new so they probably wont have played it yet if they're into card games.

solidaritea · 03/10/2020 18:53

Also;
Goat Lords is good fun.

There is one called Throw Throw Burrito which us a cross between dodgeball and a card game. You get 2 squishy burrito toys which you throw at eat other, or dual with another player depending on the hands which come up. It is really great fun and a little different from sitting playing a card game as you try to jump up and dive behind furniture to hide etc.

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 03/10/2020 18:56

Coup
Fluxx
Unstable unicorns (can also buy the nsfw expansion pack)
