Their website is down at the moment but I buy most of my books from Blackwells. They also have an eBay store (and physical stores) which I imagine isn’t affected by their system issue. They are usually slightly cheaper than RRP and have a great selection.

For home/kitchen stuff I recommend Harts of Stur - also usually cheaper than RRP and great customer service.

I was going to order from a few independent retailers today, but tbh, the shipping costs put me off as they seemed quite high for what I wanted to purchase and added considerably to the cost of what I was buying. so decided against it. It's tricky.

A lot of independent sellers offer free shipping if you spend over a certain amount - I'm sure there's more on thread that do this but certainly Funky Little People (scandinavian clothes for kids and Scandinavian Christmas things- funkylittlepeople.co.uk/), East End Press (beautiful prints) eastendpress.com/ and Venner (eco-friendly gifts and household things) www.venner-store.co.uk/ offer this.

Check out Not On Amazon on Facebook. A fantastic group that features only independent sellers. Some amazing makers on there.

Any recommendations for independent yarn shops?

Definitely go to leighdraws.Etsy.com for the most beautiful letters from Santa. They are illustrated and just magical. Even cynical tween likes hers.
