I’ve shared a few on the bargain thread but I think it’s worthy of its own thread. Add your own stores you recommend.

@Teaandtonic
Small drinks bottles
giant quality street
Nice keyrings
Glasses cleaning clothes (can get photo ones)
Tickets to something

I’ve got them from last year as don’t want the tat!

MrsLCSofLichfield · 03/10/2021 16:36

@delilahbucket - wow, that Simply Divine Things shop is gorgeous! Thank you Star

TuftyMarmoset · 04/10/2021 01:22

Their website is down at the moment but I buy most of my books from Blackwells. They also have an eBay store (and physical stores) which I imagine isn’t affected by their system issue. They are usually slightly cheaper than RRP and have a great selection.

For home/kitchen stuff I recommend Harts of Stur - also usually cheaper than RRP and great customer service.

I was going to order from a few independent retailers today, but tbh, the shipping costs put me off as they seemed quite high for what I wanted to purchase and added considerably to the cost of what I was buying. so decided against it. It's tricky.

PepperMlntPatty · 25/11/2021 15:52

A lot of independent sellers offer free shipping if you spend over a certain amount - I'm sure there's more on thread that do this but certainly Funky Little People (scandinavian clothes for kids and Scandinavian Christmas things- funkylittlepeople.co.uk/), East End Press (beautiful prints) eastendpress.com/ and Venner (eco-friendly gifts and household things) www.venner-store.co.uk/ offer this.

Check out Not On Amazon on Facebook. A fantastic group that features only independent sellers. Some amazing makers on there.

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners

Any recommendations for independent yarn shops?
I buy yarn from www.freyajones.com/. I've also bought from strawberry field yarns, yarn box and for the love of yarn. www.hooliganyarns.com/ are beautiful, and they support their own little sanctuary.

London Loop has a nice selection of wools and knitting / crochet supplies www.loopknittingshop.com/

Apologetic bump, would love to see more suggestions! Just getting the last bits and bobs in for Xmas.

Aghxmas · 14/12/2021 01:39

Definitely go to leighdraws.Etsy.com for the most beautiful letters from Santa. They are illustrated and just magical. Even cynical tween likes hers.

languagelover96 · 14/12/2021 08:58

There is a nice bookshop in Cobham. www.cobhambooks.com/

KnittedRobot · 16/12/2021 15:48

The Leighdraws letters are beautiful! I've just bought some jewellery from Coco Frankie - www.etsy.com/uk/shop/AcrylicCocoFrankie - colourful and well made. They're doing a range of seasonal brooches and necklaces.

CatherineCawood · 18/12/2021 00:57

I've just discovered these guys. It's like visiting bazaars from around the world. Lots of beautiful homeware at fab prices. Reminds me of the old East meets West in Covent Garden. Next day delivery too.

I went to the shop in Corbridge last week - it’s amazing. An Aladdin’s cave of treasures.

If you are in the area Mr Wolf in Hexham is a fantastic toy shop.

Thisisnotnormal69 · 12/10/2025 14:03

So useful!

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 15/10/2025 22:42

Great idea to get this thread going again for those of us looking for inspiration!

Not sure if these guys have been mentioned, but they’re a small British company and their stuff smells good. Really good.

I think their prices are pretty reasonable too.

The Bodleian shop is great for book-themed gifts too https://bodleianshop.co.uk/

Found this lovely thread by chance - as it's so old does anyone want to start a new one? I've nothing to add just looking for suggestions!
