Thanks @allatonce99 for thread title

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks
@sorryiasked yep, it's the last little thing. I try to match each item fairly equally, so for this one mum has a fancy bath bomb for about a fiver but I can't equate it to dad. The rest of the items are a smart hat, a lovely thick snood for allotmenting, some chocolate, a wire tidy as he listens to footie on his headphones down the allotment and ends up in a right tangle, a grandad mug... I am abit stumped as hes not really into fancy things
Some fancy twine? www.homebase.co.uk/grunt-fancy-shop-twine-100m_p478381

RuPaula · 25/09/2020 21:41

@UselessInDisguise would he like a nice hand cream or some fingerless gloves for gardening? Or maybe a puzzle book or another kind of book? Or maybe some ‘top gardener’ or ‘top grandad’ type socks?

UselessInDisguise · 25/09/2020 21:47

Oo brilliant suggestions, thanks so much. the air pots look good. And maybe I could find some man's gardening hand cream asets face it, all our hands are crap with just anti bac gel atm let alone gardening!

Natmat1 · 25/09/2020 21:49

@UselessInDisguise does he like sweets? I got my FIL geriatric jelly babies, just a bit of fun jellyatrics obviously depends if he finds that kind of thing humorous

I did not shop around to find a pair for 5 pounds(I am sure you can) what about Christmas cupcake socks as an idea?

peasando · 25/09/2020 22:06

@DustyLoafer thank you! I'd never heard of them before...now going down a rabbit hole... 🤦‍♀️

DumplingsAndStew · 25/09/2020 22:08

What about a wee plaque or sign for his shed?

Just one of many examples

Gandy's are giving away a free hip flask with their orders. They're costs are lovely and warm and the also do nice goodies and backpacks. Lovely company set up by two brothers who lost their parents in a tsunami and they now support charities in different country's.

Givealittlebit · 25/09/2020 22:22

Can anyone remind me of the companies given as recommendations for cheese hampers?! I've been scrolling but can't find them. Thanks!

@Friedbanana thanks so much for the wine glasses tip! Order for my dad and wife, and will get a nice bottle to go with them.

UselessInDisguise · 25/09/2020 22:23

Thanks everyone, these are great ideas. @DumplingsAndStew I love that sign!

I always find the little bits for dad the hardest! Women are much easier IMO. Mum loves fluffy socks (thanks sockshop bargain!) and bath stuff. Men are so much harder!!

Cherryup · 25/09/2020 22:34

Has anyone seen any hooded towels like the ones for babies but for older children? DS is a tall 10 and loves his hooded towel but it's 10 years old and no longer covers much!

Trumpton · 25/09/2020 22:35

I used Pong cheese for DH birthday . They were lovely .i added some olives and a goats cheese .

sorryiasked · 25/09/2020 22:41

@Cherryup Google " towel poncho". Lots on Amazon

Friedbanana · 25/09/2020 22:43

@Givealittlebit glad link was useful! Smile

Not super bargainous but fenwicks have all their Christmas stuff online (not sure if this is the first year they have done?) and there are some lovely things I’d say a bit cheaper than John Lewis, and they do free delivery over £25! There’s also sales on in other departments

fenwicks Christmas shop

Am I the only one without the faintest interest in the buns?

I was stalking them but realised I don't need them!
NoWordForFluffy · 25/09/2020 23:03

I'm not bothered about buns. And also wasn't about puppets. I did get the gin yesterday though! 😂

Also, Tkmaxx if you have one locally.
buckeejit · 25/09/2020 23:28

I went to M&S today & picked up the guns & then put them down again! I want full alcohol gin for that price & Sainsburys TTD is fab. Lots of Christmassy things in B&M today-several people buying lots of selection boxes!

thaegumathteth · 25/09/2020 23:38

Hi everyone I've been on these threads in various guides for years - back now :)

No bargains to share yet although I'm avoiding real life shops so any I post will be online ones :)

Oh actually, a bit niche but my daughter wanted an Addison Rae Hoody. They are $50 plus shipping and potential taxes. I got one which looks the exact same for £16 delivered from amazon . Star

passremarkable · 25/09/2020 23:54

@cherryup decathlon for hooded poncho or [[https://www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/towelling-throw-on/sty-b1085 boden]] do these which my kids love, but they're sold out. They also do a towel hoodie and shorts if he wants the same comfort but a bit more coverage?? Hope links work! My first attempt...

margaritasbythesea · 25/09/2020 23:56

@UselessInDisguise As someone who gardens, I always need new gloves, secateurs, twine and something to kneel onit may be that he's the sort of person who takes more care of these things, though. Window birdfeeder?

passremarkable · 25/09/2020 23:56

@cherryup aargh.... nearly got it Boden .
If you'd go pre-loved this looks great condition eBay

DustyLoafer · 26/09/2020 00:30

I think they are just a shop in Sheffield but really good service. I've picked up a couple in the sale that are still full price on One Hundred Stars website.

I've got 4 dressing gowns and DH has one stashed away for me for Christmas 😳

ShoppingBasket · 26/09/2020 00:52

If anyone sees an offer on Harry Potter attack of the burrow please let me know Confused. At least it's not the diagon alley set!

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 26/09/2020 01:37

@UselessInDisguise

I'm abit stuck with one more item for my dad's stocking. Mid sixties, retired, not a reader, big into gardening and his allotment. I feel like I've exhausted all other things over the years. I need something for about a fiver or so to match what I've put in mums (I put eight things in each person's) any suggestions. I'm almost tempted to chuck some buns in 😂
Seed bombs, bird feeders/fat balls, thermal socks, bulb planter, a thing you can use to make plant pots out of newspaper, fancy and rare tomato seeds, bee house, butterfly feeder, compost activator - trying to think what I'd like!
