Thanks @moonbabyandthebeast for thread title

Just a reminder you can watch the thread by clicking on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first message. It’s much easier for everyone than so many place marking every time which can use up a fair chunk of each thread to scroll through Thanks

Initial not named 🙄🤦‍♀️

Bluewavescrashing · 18/09/2020 21:12

Ooh, fitbit ace2 looks perfect! Thank you.

Hophop26 · 18/09/2020 21:36

My slime arrived today too, 2 sets, when saw it was in a parcel bag rather than a box I feared the worse but they have fared surprisingly well. Shame other haven't and definitely complain, very odd not to have been a parcel box

superstar84 · 18/09/2020 21:37

Fitbit are great for customers service too, the straps are under warranty for about 2 years

Ds broke his (his own fault!) and I had to send a photo of it with a code next to it and they sent him 2 in the post within a few days free of charge

BigEaredBob · 18/09/2020 21:53

Hi. I want to get the Phoenix subscription for my 8 year old but can anyone recommend anything similar for my 4 year old? I think they would be sad if they weren’t getting something through the door. Thanks

cymrumam · 18/09/2020 21:57

@Mipe thank you so much for the bubble tea recommendation. Just ordered one for the Christmas eve box

FireflyGirl · 18/09/2020 21:59

Couple of things to add - Amazon have this Marauders Map Guide to Hogwarts which includes lots of info and comes with a blacklight 'wand' to look at the map. Lovely book for £6.

A bit more niche, but I know people have been interested in similar - Cheeky Wipes have free delivery this weekend, and have their period pants in the sale for £6.50. Only sizes 14-16 and 16-18 left. A good deal for anyone looking to try them out - they are always highly recommended on MN.

FireflyGirl · 18/09/2020 22:00

Link might help Blush

tabbycat985 · 18/09/2020 22:05

Would anyone recommend a Gro Clock?
I've read so many mixed reviews but I think it might be a good practical/non toy gift for DS

sorryiasked · 18/09/2020 22:16

@SayNoToCarrots I was browsing AliExpress and this popped up, it's plastic and flat but might do?

It has absolutely worked for us. DS does not get out of bed until the sun comes out, and loves putting it to sleep when he gets in bed.
BeGoneDom · 18/09/2020 22:22

@tabbycat985 we love our Gro Clock, wouldn't be without it. Even now DS (4) doesn't get up before the sun comes up (although sometimes does call out to us and if we dare to change the time to attempt a lie in, he regularly calls out to tell us that the clock must be broken). Disclaimer though - he's always been a fab sleeper, self settling from a young age etc. Just prone to earlier mornings than I'd like. (Don't mean to brag, believe me DS2 has more than made up for things on the sleep front!!)

In terms of bargains, I'd recommend getting one second hand on FB or eBay for probably less than half the price.

SleepyPaws · 18/09/2020 22:42

@Bluewavescrashing we got the Fitbit inspire HR for our 9 now nearly 10 yr old. Its an adult one but came with a large and small strap which fits his skinny wrist no problem.

Hophop26 · 18/09/2020 22:45

We are on the other side of the fence with the gro clock, was complete waste of money for us particularly when they work out how to override it!

Lurleene · 18/09/2020 22:49

All the talk about children's magazines reminded me that DS used to love getting his Lego magazine through the door. It is completely free for 5-9 year olds and is delivered quarterly. You can sign up here. Sorry if that's already been mentioned.

Dreamingofwalden · 18/09/2020 22:58

@Makedo I hope you don’t cause them to run out of ethical love tape 😂

Dreamingofwalden · 18/09/2020 23:02

We bought the Brio train set for our eldest when our twins were born. He really enjoys playing with it. But I think the normal RRP is about £35. Still a great price.

wibdib · 18/09/2020 23:19

For those wanting a comic, ds2 has had the Beano for the last few years and even at 12 still loves it. Think it was a cyber Monday bargain - came with a free personalised annual that went down very well. Wouldn’t pay £20 for one though vs £3.50 on a half price deal!

Recently they’ve had 20 issues for £20 which seemed a great deal - keep an eye on their Facebook page or try calling them - they’re very helpful.

Ds1 has had How It Works since he was 12 and still loves it - another cyber Monday bargain.

wibdib · 18/09/2020 23:29

To maxx used to be great for Brio, although limited to what they had. We had a fab collection and most of it was half price or less (some had 75%+ off!). Worth keeping an eye on it if you’re interested, especially if you can be flexible with regard to the sets chosen...

Sunshineskies · 18/09/2020 23:35

Thank you so much for the lovely ideas for my gran. Really appreciate it and feeling overwhelmed and full of Christmas spirit for the kindness and thought shown 😢 Fantastic ideas that I would never Would have thought of myself Flowers

CoffeeAndEnnui · 19/09/2020 00:30

@BigEaredBob, not a magazine but at that age my DD got a real kick out of her Toucan craft boxes. Still something to anticipate coming through the door and has the bonus of being a nice distracting activity too!

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 19/09/2020 00:39

Cute wooden rainbow toy on Amazon lightening sale - £10.49 down from £13.99. Lowest price was only 50p less according to CCC

Just ordered this Advent calendar, seems like a good deal.

Bluewavescrashing · 19/09/2020 06:49

Gro clock is the best £20 I have spent in my entire life, hands down. No messing at bedtime,no 4.30 am wake ups. Saved our sanity. I do have very literal minded kids who took it very seriously though, I know it doesn't work for everyone!

gingerbeerandlemonade · 19/09/2020 06:55

Another one on the fence with the gro clock. My three year old is a terrible sleeper though and we often end up in his bed. We've found it hasn't really helped in the mornings but it was good in the summer for saying it was nighttime even when it was still daylight. I don't rate the book it comes with either. If you can get it second hand then I would.
