FIREFLY that's massive, you could enter that in a giant veg show and win Grin

CrazyBaubles · 21/07/2020 19:49

I hope the swingball set is a success Wreck because I absolutely did not give myself a black eye and my sister most definitely didn't use it as a weapon

Do you feel quite refreshed now chips? A walk and a catch up is like soul food I think.

I'm really chuffed with my present. Suddenly want to get the Coo finished 😂 so I'm working on that this evening

Mrsmadevans · 21/07/2020 19:56

Glad you and your DS had a great time Most

Hi Chips glad to hear you had a lovely day Smile

MarshmallowManiac · 21/07/2020 20:07

Missed my daily walk today and yesterday because my knee is still really sore.

NerosFiddle · 21/07/2020 20:48

Evening all.

Mrs I've found you all again Grin.

No news to report here. It's been a very boring day.

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/07/2020 22:05

Fantastic new job present Crazy. It lovely when your colleagues "get" you.

Firefly that's practically a marrow! Ratatouille for months from that bad boy.

Chips you found us! I don't think I've left the house with DS. He's been for a walk with his sisters and he's been out with DH but not with me. He has come out of his teen cave over the last few night and I'd forgotten what lovely company he is. These days he bangs on about guitars rather than Minecraft but he's funny and sweet and I missed him when I was self isolating

I had an "in person" physio appointment and have been working on the issue that was causing me problems. It definitely feels easier - but the two glasses of red wine with dinner may be helping.

My knitting is finally progressing much faster so I'm starting to feel more optimistic about my to do list.

pussycatinboots · 21/07/2020 22:14

Woolly Wine and knitting? brave girl! I'd be undoing row upon row tomorrow Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/07/2020 22:16

Boots years of practice 😬

sideorderofchips · 21/07/2020 23:01

I'm still around lol

It's gorgeous weather here atm

Mrsmadevans · 22/07/2020 06:15

156morning everyone 😀
Can't seem to sleep , so l got up and left DH in bed . It's the realisation that my siblings couldn't give a shit about me caring for my Mum , they just don't care end of. Quite content to leave me to carry on , all the while blaming me for everything.um excuses the two of them but it's incredibly painful for me .
Am just having a little vent as l do, don't take heed l don't want to bore you all my problems, thank you for letting me vent 🤗

CrazyBaubles · 22/07/2020 07:42

You're always welcome to vent on here MrsMad, we all do it.

It's so hard when you realise people aren't going to do the right thing isn't it?
On the plus side, you have a brilliant DH who looks after you and all of use who are on your side!

I've just had the fright of my life! I was sat at my desk and was just watching the blackbird in the garden and the squirrel on top of the shed when I realised some giant bird (are crows quite big?) and a pigeon seem to be having some sort of fight up in the air when the pigeon flew into my window!
Made a hell of a thump (and woke the dog up) but apart from a smudgey bird print on the glass and some feathers in my garden the bird seemed fine!

It's meant to be very nice weather here today so I've got my first load of washing in the machine - plan is to do 2 loads of clothes then one of cleaning cloths / door mats / dusters etc and be washing free for a day 😊

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2020 08:09

I love that kind of day, Crazy. Wash. It. All!

Mrs, from what you've said about your family, I'm surprised it's taken you so long to come to that conclusion. Maybe it's time to employ carers instead? You don't have to do as much as you do, there are other options. You're not doing yourself any good. Employing carers, either in the home or by way of residential care, doesn't mean you don't love your mum. Hell, if that was the case, all of the people in care and nursing homes would be unloved, and they're not (though I accept that some families don't care, that's always been the way).

My gran was very loved, but needed more care and availability of carers nearby, so it was the best thing for her to go into a care home for this reason. I think for your sanity, that time has now come for you too.

Was that care package you sorted only for your dad? I think you need to look objectively at it as ruining your own mental health isn't the price to pay to keep your mum at home. It just isn't.

Seems gloomy here, though forecast dry and cloudy. It's meant to be washing day tomorrow here (kids' bedding on Thursday) but it's forecast wet, so it'll go out either overnight Thurs or Fri am.

I've had birds do that too, Crazy. Scares you witless. The bloody window cleaner did it to me the other week too! 😂

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 22/07/2020 08:27

I agree with fluffy I'm afraid Mrs and I think you do need to look at getting some professional help for your mum. Don't ruin your own life, a loving mum would never want you to do that for them.

Mrsmadevans · 22/07/2020 08:33

Aw thank you all so much ❤️
We have come to realise the uselessness of the situation with my family and we have decided that if Mum deteriorates any further then she is going to have to go in a home. I don't care about the money. We can't do anymore than we do now . It's all come to a head with the awful Covid really. I hope Mum goes before we have to resort to doing that . Not because of the money but because l couldn't bear the guilt . Thank you all so much xxx

Mrsmadevans · 22/07/2020 08:38

Crazy l have been so enthralled with 'the fight to end all fights'
Glad there are no feathers ruffled and no fur pulled 😂
Fluffy weather is good here today thankfully, Crazy you motivated me to change the bed 😂
Most have a lovely day in the park or wetlands or Goldcliff. I need a good dose of the air there very soon 😃
Have a great day everyone 😀

WreckTangled · 22/07/2020 08:57

Mrs you're a saint!

Dh and I have booked a night away in a hotel so excited! Hopefully it'll all be able to go ahead...

Also I'm going to try and claim money for the whole car debacle now things have settled down, I have nothing to lose (apart from the £30 odd court fee I suppose).

Another lovely day here

pussycatinboots · 22/07/2020 09:02

I agree with fluffy too. You know I've been there and it nearly finished me. Don't be me.

NerosFiddle · 22/07/2020 09:18

Mrs I also agree with the above. For your own mental health I think it's time to take a step back.

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/07/2020 09:20

Another one chipping in MrsMad. My DM lasted as long as she could in our old family home and then moved into a flat near one of my siblings. She was mostly independent there for a couple of years - she didn't have carers but between us all we did her shopping and took her to appointments and church. I won't lie - most of the responsibilities lay with the sibling that lived closest but we all did our bit where we could.

After she fell ill and spent some time in hospital she went into residential care and was there for best part of a year until she died. They were brilliant with her, she made a few good friends and was very well looked after. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them.

Don't feel guilty about making that decision.

Mrsmadevans · 22/07/2020 09:20

I totally agree with you all. I am taking it all in. I promise you. 🤗

Mrsmadevans · 22/07/2020 09:22

Wreck that hotel sounds lovely 😃💛💜💚

NoWordForFluffy · 22/07/2020 09:52

Yes, Mrs. A totally misplaced sense of guilt gets you nowhere. Why would you feel guilty if it's the best thing to do (and it is NOW, not later). She can sell the house to pay for the care, which is what gran did.

This is about what's best for both of you (and your DD who helps; don't subject her to your mum being a burden and abusive any more, it's not fair on her either, but she clearly feels as - wrongly - obligated as you).

Step away. I'm sorry if it sounds harsh to hear, but if it came to it, my parents would be in a care home as soon as Why said it was needed (being the one living there).

FireflyGirl · 22/07/2020 11:02

Flowers MrsM. There are 3 of you, all living relatively nearby, it's not fair that caring for your mum is all falling on you/your family. She is selfish, as a lot of older people are, but also seems to go out of her way to make life difficult for you.

Regardless, I'd be looking at getting a home help for her, particularly as Bob needs help. Have you looked into meals on wheels type services as well? That'd give you a bit of a break.

You've got nothing to feel guilty about - you and your family do everything for her, but you've all got your own lives to live as well.

I'm sure your siblings will try and make you feel guilty if you do have to make the decision for residential care, but you need to remember that they have the option to help with her care or take her in themselves if they want.
