Sending big hugs most. Good that you've found out about it and are prepared to take on the responsibility for tackling it. It's also a big positive that your DH has recognised his problem and is getting some professional help.

NerosFiddle · 30/07/2020 21:46

Most I'm sorry to read that. How are you doing?

ConstantlyCooking · 30/07/2020 22:41

70 - last year I was inspired by you to try amaretto in my Christmas cakes - it was v successful.
The blackberry haul is impressive. I think I've missed our local ones.
Waves to everyone

Mrs that view is amazing! Are you sure about the hot air balloon? I doubt you'd get me in one either

Some PITAs were shouting and screaming on their way back from the bloody pub last night, for half an hour, at 11.30! I hope they have really bad hangovers today. I couldn't get to sleep for ages after and kept dreaming NDNs cat was trying to climb in through the bedroom windows. Gave up and got up at 4. I may fall asleep later Blush

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/07/2020 06:25

Thanks all for your support. It has been a shock but sat down last night and went through it all and too over the reins financially so feeling more in control now.

It was 18 months ago crazy that I first found out. I trusted him to still have a personal account but he admits he can't be trusted with anything of his own. All accounts will be joint now so I can see where every penny goes and I will be checking all accounts in detail and his credit report every Sunday evening.

I feel confident now that it won't be possible for him to accrue more debt now but am just disappointed that we can't move while this is the situation :(

It's going to be hot here today, will spend the day in the paddling pool I think!

WreckTangled · 31/07/2020 06:47

Most what a tough situation. You sound really calm but I'm sure you're not feeling that way.

Food shopping today. It's going to be boiling, shame our paddling pool got clawed by the cat Angry

Next week has just two days with possible rain otherwise nice and next weekend is showing 30° again. I bet when dh has two weeks off at the end of the month it'll rain the whole time.

Morning. It's a scorcher today! We considered the paddling pool (we have a rigid side one to prevent punctures, Wreck), but as it's back down to 17° tomorrow, it's a waste of water.

I'm so sorry you can't move now, Most. How frustrating and upsetting. You do sound very calm. I'd be raging.

Boots, that'll be the same ilk as the knob head here at 2.30 the other morning. Arseholes.

I wouldn't go in a hot air balloon I don't think. Apparently it is lovely though.

most Flowers your DH has lifted the weight off his shoulders and it's firmly shifted onto yours now .

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/07/2020 08:07

I do appreciate that 70 but I prefer that to the helplessness of not knowing what's happening financially.

I am feeling much calmer today, yesterday I was fuming and very harsh with DH. I do recognise that addiction is an illness however so I am trying to understand and support. He knows my support is dependent on him engaging fully with Debtors Anonymous and with being completely honest with me going forward.

DH does at least earn a good amount so we can afford all the repayments, it could be much worse I guess.

Have been looking at homemade Christmas tree decorations to save some money and will definitely be making some salt dough ones with DS :)

CrazyBaubles · 31/07/2020 09:05

It's such a shame you can't move now most. Is that what brought all this to light?
I definitely agree control is much more settling than not knowing what's happening (speaking from experience of leaving all finances to DH when we were younger despite him knowing as little as I did which got us into trouble).

Also, frugal christmases can be relatively easy to organise and enjoyable if the kids are young enough (driving to see lights / movie nights / local light switch on etc).

We've woken up to a beautiful day here. We've done a short 40 min walk which is all my ankle can cope with. DH is going to do a hike for a couple of house at around 11 and I'm going to sit in the pub beer garden cross stitching or reading 👍🏻

Morning all, we have actually confirmed moving on the 6th now - booked the van and are working on packing our remaining belongings.

Still no baby, I thought we might have something starting last night as had some actually uncomfortable/painful contractions fairly regularly between 7-11 so I went to bed to try and get some rest - fell asleep and any signs at all seem to have totally disappeared.

I declined being booked for induction on Weds I'm 41+1 now on the 6th I'll be 42 weeks exactly so could easily still be pregnant... Maybe baby is waiting until we are moved...

I did pop the sheet on the moses basket last night just incase, but it doesn't seem it will be needed today after all!

ConstantlyCooking · 31/07/2020 11:09

Good morning all.
Hot & sunny here so hoping to make the most of it before the temperature drops in time for our short break.
Most - I agree with you. Once you know what the problem is, you can tackle it. One of my best friends had a similar issue with her DH so she took over the household finances and they both felt much happier. She knew that the debt was being paid and would not increase and he stopped feeling anxious about being tempted and then keeping the inevitable debt secret. Their relationship improved and they are coming up for their silver wedding anniversary.

MarshmallowManiac · 31/07/2020 11:21

Morning everyone.
Really sizzling out here today, typically fry your egg on the proverbial pavement weather! Of course I have to have my foot up most of the day so I won't be able to enjoy much of it Angry

Crazy that looks like a lovely place, hope you enjoy your hike and that your ankle recovers quickly, sounds like you have an amazing day planned Smile

Oh no Mrs I would love to go up in a balloon, keep hinting but nobody takes the bait! Sad

So sorry to hear about your move Most, hopefully it will not be too long before you can full steam ahead. I would be turning cartwheels in his ears, and spinning circles round his eyes, but you seem much more calm, which of course is a much more constructive reaction I feel. Good luck with it all my dear Smile

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/07/2020 11:21

Good luck for the move Hair and I hope baby makes an appearance soon :)

That's so good to know Constantly, DH is wonderful in all other respects, he just can't control his spending so I will have to do it for him.

So happy about the news that pools are reopening in Wales, should mean the Bluestone one is by the time we go late in August. DS is so excited as swimming is his favourite thing and the paddling pool has limited scope!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/07/2020 11:21

Your day sounds perfect crazy!

MarshmallowManiac · 31/07/2020 11:22

Enjoy your break Constantly don't think the weather is up to much when we go away either.

MarshmallowManiac · 31/07/2020 11:23

Hairspray you know what they say about new house, new baby Wink

WreckTangled · 31/07/2020 12:15

Pleased you have a date hairspray everything will fall into place, hopefully baby will also just fall out Grin

It's scorching here. We went food shopping early and Aldi was heavily. Sainsbury's was quieter. Also went to McDonald's then Costa oink.

It's really breezy here but it's a hot breeze like when you're on holiday.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/07/2020 16:32

Yay for a date, Hairspray! Did you have to agree to daily monitoring to refuse the induction? Keep an eye on movements (they don't reduce as you get near your due date; if they do you have to go in). Bossy instruction over!

Crazy, it sounds amazing where you are!

It's gone very dark here. If it doesn't rain I'll be amazed!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 31/07/2020 16:58

Same here. There's a warning out of thunderstorms nearby but met office is saying it won't get us. At least it's cooled down for ds' football.

MarshmallowManiac · 31/07/2020 17:01

Still boiling here, could do with a bit of a thunderstorm to cool me down Grin

HairsprayBabe · 31/07/2020 17:01

I'm only 41+1 @NoWordForFluffy so they will offer me increased monitoring at my next midwife appointment.

The consultant was supposed to call me either yesterday or today but I haven't heard anything so I'll check in on Monday with them. Loads of movements from baby still, and apparently they are in a great position - just not in any rush to make an appearance!

NoWordForFluffy · 31/07/2020 17:07

I suppose what with getting pregnant straight off the pill you don't even know if your date is right! I knew my exact dates due to tracking / it not happening immediately!

At least you don't have to do anything with the move; delegation all round.

OP posts:
MarshmallowManiac · 31/07/2020 17:09

I was brought in because I was over, and my hypertension was horrendous. They monitored me for days, and tried to induce me many times but she wasn't having any of it. Sure baby will come in their own good time Hairspray. Smile

MarshmallowManiac · 31/07/2020 17:12

I was swollen up like a barrage balloon Grin as I had severe Pre eclampsia and Gestational Diabetes Sad but you forget it all when they arrive Smile
