I did.

Guinea fowl
Roast potatoes
Carrots and parsnips with honey and thyme
Thyme and garlic stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Braised red cabbage
Shredded sprouts with butter, chestnuts, honey-cured streaky bacon and cranberries
Gravy with port

DP. He regards it as recreation.
(I regard his attitude as a gift from the gods. If it were down to me we’d have pasta)

Pipandmum · 25/12/2019 16:25

My sister with my son as sous chef.

DuchessAnnogovia · 25/12/2019 16:25

I cooked! For once all the timings were spot on, and if I say so myself, our Christmas dinner was lovely. Tali, our dog, is having a lie down as he's rather too full with turkey and gammon! My DS had his annual sprout!

bluebluezoo · 25/12/2019 16:49

Me. Vegetarian.

While my mum cooked a beef joint and pigs in blankets she’s brought, put the beef juice in the gravy, bacon in the sprouts, and brought goose fat for the roasties.

She doesn’t hold with vegetarianism. Thinks if she just puts meat in everything I’ll give in and eat something.

Oblomov19 · 25/12/2019 16:51

I did. I still am. I slow roast a leg of lamb. Since first thing this morning. It's still cooking. Roast potatoes are in!

Em012 · 25/12/2019 16:53

MIL to be but did help prep🙂 .. along with a glass of gin of course x

HardAsSnails · 25/12/2019 17:08

We had the Cook Christmas dinner (again!), which required minimal effort, 90 minutes from switching on the oven to on the table.

trilbydoll · 25/12/2019 17:11

I carefully worked out what order to put various prepared dishes from Waitrose in the oven and successfully served it all up at the same time. I got a lot of plaudits for such good reading of the labels Grin

ThreeTree · 25/12/2019 17:20

Dad did the turkey, I did everything else!

ineedaholidaynow · 25/12/2019 17:25

DH did. And very nice it was too. He does the cooking, and I do the baking. So Christmas cake, mince pies etc we are having later will be down to me.

He likes to be left alone in the kitchen whilst cooking, but I help with the clearing up afterwards, although he is the tetris expert for the dishwasher.

MercuryRising · 25/12/2019 17:25

DP always. I don't have the patience.

AnnaMagnani · 25/12/2019 17:28

Me. But I wouldn't let anyone else and I don't want to wash up.

DH is on his 3rd load of the dishwasher.

Bubblysqueak · 25/12/2019 17:29

Me and I really enjoyed doing it.

NaughtyLittleElf · 25/12/2019 22:10

Me and I did a good job 😁 only the second time I've cooked Christmas dinner ever and the first time in my own kitchen, loved it.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 25/12/2019 22:23

I did it all...all the prep yesterday and everything today! Dh was in charge of fetching and carrying

and it was all very chilled and organised, my old range died in the summer and i have a new double oven gas affair....so no time critical juggling, no wrestling with the heating controls as the range decided everything was quite hot enough thankyou and nevermind the pork is not crackling up

lots of space, even a warming cubby underneath

only disaster was forgetting the cheesey leeks...they got shoved to the back when dh put the plates in and I missed them

OlaB72 · 25/12/2019 22:44

Me - despite having a heated debate with not so DH yesterday that his mum and sister want to help (they are here for a week and we're moaning every time they asked to do something I said I'm fine or it's done, they are very clever at arriving just as you finish their timing is impeccable). So I said they can fill their boots cooking for 10 people... Nowhere to be seen for veg prep last night I waited until 10pm for them to start so I did it myself, no offer of help same with cooking today, but I must say I actually enjoyed being shut in the kitchen away from all the drama in the living room, using every pot, pan and utensil I have. But come clearing up time you guessed it, they tried to slink off - oh no bitches back up in that kitchen I cooked you do the dishes. I had a lovely rest on the sofa for an hour whilst they washed and dried, I have no dish washer! Karma is a mo fo that will teach you for talking about me behind my back and bitching and causing an atmosphere in the house. Happy bloody Christmas!!!

Costacoffeeplease · 25/12/2019 22:48

Joint effort between y husband and I but after 35 years together we’ve got it sussed

Costacoffeeplease · 25/12/2019 22:48

My husband!

We3kingsoforientareandabump · 25/12/2019 22:48

Me for 10 people.

I love doing it I'm a proper feeder Grin

minipie · 25/12/2019 22:49

MIL, bless her. She’s a good ‘un, I’m lucky.

WheresMyChocolate · 25/12/2019 22:51

We all did at ours. Everyone preps a dish at home then bungs it in the oven when they get here.

TheShoeLady · 25/12/2019 22:52

Dominos Blush

My DCs wanted it as they don’t like roasts!! Had to order last night and reheat in case they weren’t open today, but it was just as good, if not better for being freshly hot.

In my defence though, I cooked for 20 at the weekend so I’ve done my bit!

MamaDane · 25/12/2019 22:53

My MIL. It was lovely. Last year it was my brother.

BellaVita · 25/12/2019 22:53

My DB and SIL.

It was lovely to be waited on. I have hosted for 17/18 years.

DB said to me he realises now how I must have felt with the shopping, cooking, cleaning etc - he was proper flustered and run ragged 😏.
