My mum for mine.

OP posts:
cptartapp · 26/12/2019 07:23

My PIL and SIL did it together this year for six adults and four teenage boys. One slice of turkey, one pig in blanket, one bottle of (flat) prosecco, Morrison's frozen dessert. Nice thought but despite PIL being well off no sense of extravagance at all.

cptartapp · 26/12/2019 07:26

And they apparently had no dishwasher tabs so I washed everything up by hand.

BlouseAndSkirt · 26/12/2019 07:29

Brother.

zebrapig · 26/12/2019 07:37

Me. MIL prepped the sprouts but I did everything else. I prefer being left alone as I find it easier.

Episcomama · 26/12/2019 07:48

A number of executive, sous and pastry chefs. Hotel buffet was absolutely exceptional!

lanbro · 26/12/2019 07:49

XH, I didn't do anything apart from provide the meat, was delightful!

FancyAMincePie · 26/12/2019 07:51

I did

OceanSunFish · 26/12/2019 07:53

Me and DH.

Weenurse · 26/12/2019 07:53

@cptartapp that sounds miserable.

Is that usual ? Or are they trying to be so bad that you will take over?
Mr Chicken shop man cooked the turkey and stuffing and gravy.
I did potato salad, egg salad and a tossed garden salad.
DM did shrimp cocktail and fresh berries and ice cream for dessert.
DH did dishes.
Only 3 of us this year as DC with outlaws ( their partners families) and FIL did not feel well so stayed home.
We took him leftovers and he told us he had a lovely lunch of leftovers today.
Happy new year all🍸🎉

eurochick · 26/12/2019 07:54

My husband. He does most of the cooking in our house.

Disfordarkchocolate · 26/12/2019 07:59

Me, with some helpful chopping and peeling by my daughter and husband. Husband came in and washed up regularly and my daughter made a lovely cheese sauce for the cauliflower. It was very lovely but I find the last 10 minutes really stressful. The company made the meal though.

tinytemper66 · 26/12/2019 08:24

My husband but I dished it out!

Parky04 · 26/12/2019 08:46

Me and I have done it every year since we have been married (23 years). DW has never cooked a Christmas dinner. It's not a big deal though as it's only for the four of us.

girlygirl98 · 26/12/2019 08:49

My husband. I made a few nibbles but it was half an hours work. I cleaned up though

GrannyBags · 26/12/2019 08:51

My boss, who is the Vicar of our Church

Hoppinggreen · 26/12/2019 08:54

A chef ( we went out)

AuntieMarys · 26/12/2019 08:55

The lovely chefs at our local Mediterranean restaurant. Not a Turkey in sight

motortroll · 26/12/2019 09:02

DH. He always cooks the roast on Sundays too. I am required to "help" be bossed around and jump to it no matter what else I am doing like the very important job if cuddling a niece! At key moments but it's essentially all him!

moolady1977 · 26/12/2019 09:15

My DM cooked this year it was beautiful , wouldn't let anyone help and got rather stressed towards the end as she only has a worktop oven and two halogen ovens

SawingForTeens · 26/12/2019 09:16

Always DH. Capon, two kinds of stuffing (bread and oatmeal), roasted and mashed potatoes, gravy, butter carrots, green beans, spring cabbage, cranberry sauce, followed by a baby stilton, and christmas pud. Champagne. And possibly some stuff I've forgotten. For 6 adults and 2 DGC. Feel very spoiled.

For today: Smoked turkey crown. Also DH.

I DO wash up (no dishwasher)!

cricketmum84 · 26/12/2019 09:34

Joint effort between me, mum and sister. Today it's just me! Eek!

Snausage · 26/12/2019 10:09

For the first year I can remember we were hosted by my husband's aunt and her family! Husband is working away. She did all the cooking, although her oven conked out part way through so it was a mad dash back to mine to finish off the potatoes, stuffing and cook the Yorkshire puds. Fortunately we're only a 5 minute walk away. She excelled herself and we had a wonderful day. Turkey and beef, ALL the trimmings and a selection of puddings afterwards. We all left feeling very fat and happy!

ineedaholidaynow · 26/12/2019 10:24

Snowflake9 why did you do it all when you have a small baby? Was that your choice?

Foghead · 26/12/2019 10:30

We had a family ‘bring a dish’. Fab dinner with minimum stress.

BestIsWest · 26/12/2019 10:31

Me (control freak central). There was a list of jobs though and DH and adult DC were allowed to do some of the things on it. It was lovely.
