My mum for mine.

OP posts:

Me, as always, for 8.

JadziaSnax · 25/12/2019 22:54

Me and my Dad. It's the first time that I've been in the Christmas dinner hot seat and we did a great job.

RUSU92 · 25/12/2019 22:56

DP. He regards it as recreation.
(I regard his attitude as a gift from the gods. If it were down to me we’d have pasta)

Arthritica - we had pasta bake one year - kids favourite so why not?? Grin

DuggeesWoggle · 25/12/2019 22:56

Me and I didn't mind as I could make it just how I like it. We were at mils last year and dinner was shite (no stuffing, no pigs, no cranberry sauce, only bread sauce and gravy because I saw we had none and whipped some up). We had:

Veggie Wellington/strudel (butternut squash, leeks, stilton, chestnuts, cranberries in puff pastry)
Roast potatoes
Pigs in blankets
Braised red cabbage
Carrots and green beans
Bread sauce
Stuffing balls
Cranberry sauce
Gravy

Washed down with champagne and followed by chocolate orange cheesecake some hours later.

It was bloody lovely and much easier doing the Wellington rather than a turkey/chicken as the contents were all prepped in advance so was just an assembly job, no trying to make gravy at the last minute (I actually did a chicken on Sunday so I could make gravy ready for today!), All very chilled. Will do a repeat performance at the weekend when the in laws come up, show them what a proper Christmas dinner looks like!

My lovely friend! It was delicious, and I’m very thankful that she included me in her family Christmas.

HeyMicky · 25/12/2019 23:06

It was a team effort.

MIL brought red cabbage to warm through and frozen parboiled potatoes

I did all the other veg, the ham (yesterday in the slow cooker), the puddings and sorted the cheeseboard, plus most of the washing up/stacking and emptying the dishwasher

DH did the canapes, the turkey, pigs in blankets and some elaborate sausage stuffing thing.

FIL entertained the children and played bartender

SunshineAngel · 25/12/2019 23:09

My dad.

He's always done it. But he's announced that it will be the last time this year, as he always gets incredibly stressed over it. He wants everything to be completely perfect though, and he makes things more complicated than just a roast dinner, which we would all be happy with!

So, assuming we want to survive PAST next Christmas, I think we will definitely be going out, rather than trust one of us to do it!

CountFosco · 25/12/2019 23:10

Me and DH. We had 12 people here last year and we've not downscaled enough so have massively overcooked this year so there will be leftovers forr the next few days. Spanish omelette, minestrone and fajitas top of the list. Tomorrow is my favourite day of the year.

peachgreen · 25/12/2019 23:12

I did. DH cooks every other day of the year so I was happy to give him a break!

Lllot5 · 25/12/2019 23:15

My son.
Goose
Gammon
Roast pots
Roast parsnips
Carrot and swede mash
Sprouts with streaky bacon
Pigs
Stuffing
Yorkshire’s
Gravy.
Spot on perfect.

Lllot5 · 25/12/2019 23:15

Oh nearly forgot cauliflower and broccoli too.

isittheholidaysyet · 25/12/2019 23:16

Joint effort.
SIL prepared the veg last night.
I started things off, put the turkey in the oven, made stuffing and pigs in blankets. Made a red cabbage dish.
DH did the bulk of it though, today.

StanleyWalkersThirdWife · 25/12/2019 23:18

Dh took the lead and I helped out :) was bloody lovely!

GoldenHoops · 26/12/2019 01:25

Me apparently it was delicious 😁

managedmis · 26/12/2019 01:26

Me

It was shit

I regret it

Cineraria · 26/12/2019 01:53

DH cooked the turkey. I did the rest: veggie main dish and all side dishes, plus pudding.

safariboot · 26/12/2019 02:04

I did. Just three to cook for. Mostly ready-prepared stuff here this year so the only peeling and chopping was the carrots.

Snog · 26/12/2019 06:26

DH
It was fab

Bouledeneige · 26/12/2019 06:38

Me. Cooked for 15. Turkey, gravy, roasties, parmesan parsnips, sprouts, carrots and peas, pigs in blankets, gravy and bread sauce plus two veggie meals. My sisters did the puddings.

Snowflake9 · 26/12/2019 06:44

I cooked for 12. Prepped for 3 hours day before too. Then my DS 16wo wouldn't stop crying. So I didn't eat mine. No one thought to keep it warm in the oven. I hate microwaved roast dinners.

BillywilliamV · 26/12/2019 06:46

DH, it was lovely, he is lovely..!

BiteyShark · 26/12/2019 06:47

I cooked the turkey, DH cooked the veg.

foxatthewindow · 26/12/2019 07:00

I did, with help from FIL. Turning into a nice tradition of me cooking a big roast and him helping with veg prep and then again with all the heavy trays at the end. We were lamenting our old kitchen which was fab (moved house this year) and looking forward to doing it next year in a new kitchen

Huge joint effort here - me, mum, my husband and FIL, plus veg prep by my brothers. No one obliged to take on full cooking duties and everyone pitched in to clear up too
