Pre-Christmas freezer surprise dinner...

Today I had to clear out the freezer to make space for the turkey.

Trouble is, that dinner for 4 adults this evening is:

2 individual pepperoni pizzas
Nine pigs in blankets left over from last Christmas
One beefburger
Two elderly part-baked baguettes
One Linda McCartney cheese and leek plait
One small bag of microwavable frozen rice

Please tell me I'm not alone in this madness Grin

Freezer tapas!
I actually really enjoy the random mix, it’s exciting.

ny20005 · 18/12/2019 16:28

We call it freezer surprise lol

We had chilli last night that I found lurking at the bottom

fellyjish · 18/12/2019 16:29

@BloodyCats freezer tapas is the best phrase for this I have ever heard! I will be adopting it!

Ninkanink · 18/12/2019 16:30

Sounds pretty good!

wellthatwasthat · 18/12/2019 16:33

I drew the line at the shrivelled broad beans and the chicken stock.

Could have cooked that with the rice!

queenqueenqueen · 18/12/2019 16:39

You kept pigs in blankets for a year???

katmarie · 18/12/2019 16:47

We've been doing freezer surprise for the last couple of weeks. Last night was prawn curry. Tonight dh has found some tuna steak. Tomorrow looks to be a toss up between something called tbs soup ( which I obviously thought I'd remember when I labelled it) and snails. The freezer is looking nice and empty though now!

wellthatwasthat · 18/12/2019 16:49

You kept pigs in blankets for a year???

I'm as amazed as you are.

🤣🤣 wouldn't have lasted that long at ours. Xx

Skyejuly · 18/12/2019 16:53

Yep

1 pepperoni pizza
Mix of thin and thick cut chips
Frozen rice
Vegan chili
6 smiley faces
Sausage rolls

OverthinkingThis · 18/12/2019 16:54

Yep, tonight we're having jacket potatoes topped with things from the freezer that I was too lazy to label. I'm hopeful that one of them is chilli, and I think another might be spag bol...

PrettyShiningPeople · 18/12/2019 16:57

Hmmm TBS soup. What colour is it?

wellthatwasthat · 18/12/2019 17:15

Ooh, I forgot to mention the vegetables we are having with the repast.

Onion rings.

I have 2 bags of fake chicken (quorn), a fish cake, some rhubarb and half a baked cheese cake.

wellthatwasthat · 18/12/2019 17:27

@Lovemusic33 You're the winner so far (we've got some blackberries, but I thought that would be overdoing it) Grin

I have this regularly. Bits from the fridge or bits from the freezer. 1/2 bags of leftover spag Bol, a pastie, a bit of left over paella...... it's called 'bits and bobs'. My ds's love it. All my friends now do it too!

Barbararara · 18/12/2019 17:29

I’m impressed that you could identify everything. I always have a couple of mystery meals.

MerryDeath · 18/12/2019 17:29

this made me laugh. i have a similar dire freezer situation. enjoy!!

Lovemusic33 · 18/12/2019 17:30

There’s always a bag with 2 chips left in it too 🤔 and a stray fish finger.

LesLavandes · 18/12/2019 17:30

Cauliflower rice - yuk

TheQueef · 18/12/2019 17:31

We call it freezer roulette.
Love finding a half eaten box of fishfingers and a naan.

Sicario · 18/12/2019 17:34

I am very impressed that so many of you are able to actually identify the things in your freezer.

TheQueef · 18/12/2019 17:35

We also have Brown or Red in Tupperware Sic, always a gamble.

CherryPavlova · 18/12/2019 17:36

We were lucky - the freezers accidentally defrosted when we were on holiday so I’d emptied them completely, cleaned them and had lots of space for Christmas and a few basics.
