Nectar double up... what did you get?

wildhairdontcare · 13/11/2019 12:04

Currently sat in Sainsbury's cafe with a cup of tea having spent my nectar vouchers.

I got:
Pyjamas for me 18
Pyjamas for DD 15
Christmas top for me 9.50
Christmas novel 2.99
2 x LOL's for other DD 22
A flask for DS to take soup to school 18
Play doh for DN 6
Christmas crackers 10
It cost me £1.49 in cash!

Yes a bargain but can only double to £100 of points this year so not as good a haul as last year.

I got velour PJ bottoms for me.
Stereophonics CD for me.
And for DD:
Sequin Jeans,
Leggings,
Frozen 2 Elsa singing doll,
2 Polly pocket things,
LOL thing,
Lego friends thing,
Connect Four,
Little Mouse door / xmas set

Cost me £1.67
I also got a 2000 points well done voucher. So that's another tenner added to my remaining balance. Shame I can't now double up my remaining balance!

Have thought about this, and next year I'm going to use my mums nectar card more. She only has £8 on hers. Makes sense to start evening the points out.

Exp1etiveDeLighted · 13/11/2019 12:18

Is it easier this year? It's always been a bit of a faff with the different categories, but I have had hundreds of pounds worth of stuff over the years and £80 worth of points ATM so looking to do it again. I have replaced so much kitchen stuff over the years that I don't need anything, they hardly have any books now, my DCs are too old for toys so probably just clothes. I ended up with lots of printer ink cartridges last year.

banskuwansku · 13/11/2019 12:29

We are going to get booze: wine, Prosecco and port. We will see what's left after that. We got £100 worth. We don't need to buy any toys because dc's presents are sorted. So maybe some kitchen stuff.

coragreta · 13/11/2019 12:42

Do you have to select the product on the app like you used to? I.e £10 voucher for tu £20 for toys?

wildhairdontcare · 13/11/2019 13:47

@coragreta no, it's one voucher over all the valid departments so that's definitely easier.

@HoneyandSpice that's a great idea. I was wondering if DH could get a card for himself given it would be the same address but had 16000 points so split would have been £160!

OP posts:
HoneyandSpice · 13/11/2019 13:49

@wildhairdontcare that's what someone I know does. Different card each for her and DH. I would have had £160 too!

Givemestrengthorgin · 13/11/2019 13:55

Ooh this is my first year of this and will be able to redeem the full £100. I thought I had to be only from one category but can I mix and match all categories? That would be so much better!

YouFellAsleeep · 13/11/2019 15:32

I’m going to get the new Pokemon game for the Switch to put away for my son for Christmas, it’s not out until Friday though. It’ll probably be about £45/£50. That’ll be all my points, I don’t use Sainsbury’s much, only really use it for petrol. I might use it more for next year as I didn’t know about this double up until a few weeks ago!

wildhairdontcare · 13/11/2019 15:33

@HoneyandSpice I will get him signed up!

@Givemestrengthorgin definitely one voucher across all departments. It was much easier!

OP posts:
Exp1etiveDeLighted · 13/11/2019 15:34

Ooh, good idea re the Pokemon game, that's on my DC's Christmas list.

delivereeee · 13/11/2019 15:43

2x switch games
Electric toothbrush
Cd
Books
Pjs
2 x Christmas jumpers
Wine glasses x 4
Cafetière
Lol boys
Lego
2 Ryan's blind bags
T shirt
3 x wine
Harry Potter badge
6 x wrapping paper
2 x tags

And a partridge in a pear treeeee (we have 2 cards Wink)

wildhairdontcare · 13/11/2019 17:03

@delivereeee I am impressed! 2 cards are the way ahead!

DancingQueen2018 · 13/11/2019 17:06

I plan to spend £200 on wine!

mclover · 13/11/2019 17:13

How does it work? I've had much nectar card for years and never used the points so must be a few on there

wildhairdontcare · 13/11/2019 18:18

@mclover download the nectar app and put in your card number. It will tell you how many points you have. Then it gives you the option to double up. Vouchers must be used by the 19th!

OP posts:
ritzbiscuits · 13/11/2019 18:42

I'm popping tonight and just getting £40 of wine to put away for Xmas

ArabellaDoreenFig · 13/11/2019 19:41

Just doubled up my points on the app, going to buy some Christmas clothes for us all. Love double up!

Wincher · 13/11/2019 20:25

I got:
A new small frying pan as the non stick coating had gone on our old one £15
A sparkly dress for me £20
Four woolly hats for the kids £10
A book for my dad for Christmas £13
Two mugs for my gran for Christmas £10
Nintendo Labo for the kids for Christmas £60
Christmas wrapping paper/tags etc £15 or so
Printer paper £7
A birthday card for a friend £2

So it came to rather more than my £100 voucher! But I also had a £15 off £100 spend voucher so I only paid £40 or so for it all.

Jessica78 · 13/11/2019 20:42

A new Iron!!! And some wrapping paper, then spent the pints I didn't double up on lots of Lindt Santa's etc as part of people's presents...

Poetryinaction · 14/11/2019 12:20

I want a new iron too. You have to get it in store, right? So I will have to find a great big Sainsbury's?

TheFlis12345 · 14/11/2019 12:23

If you do it on the app, does the voucher come through instantly? DH and I have separate cards so could spend £200 but want to see what is available in our local store before we convert in case we don’t want to use it all.

wendz86 · 14/11/2019 12:32

I only had £10 of points so £20 voucher . I bought 2 orchard games and a toot toot car as a 1st birthday present for my neighbour .

Bansku19 · 14/11/2019 14:08

We spent £100 and bought one set of pyjamas and then lots of booze for Xmas; Prosecco, white and red wine and sherry.

Askingschoolquestions · 14/11/2019 17:15

How long does this usually last for and how many times a year please

bluebury · 14/11/2019 17:21

Going to the big Sainsbury's in the town along from ours tonight. Will probably stick to baby and children's clothes plus a few toys to put away for Christmas.

@Askingschoolquestions
I think it's usually twice a year, now and around about Easter.
It's on for a week at a time.
