What's everyone getting their teen girls?

GwenCooper81 · 06/11/2019 19:11

Looking for ideas for a 12 and a 15 year old.
Both like makeup, but own no 'cool' brands (and I wouldn't know what these were!).
Again with clothes. They're not very fussy,. Will happily wear Asda/matalan etc but I'd like to treat them so something more special.
Any recommendations for a teen friendly subscription box?
Any gadgets ( a sproket has been mentioned). Dd2 needs a new phone so might go down that route.
They both enjoy reading so will be getting a good selection of new boots.
We usually do a family board game. I've been thinking about Catalan or Ticket to ride, but not sure where to start.
They both enjoy crafts and arty stuff. So I guess I can bulk it all out with some new paints and bits. I'm just stuck. Neither need anything and not have they asked for anything, despite being prompted numerous times.
Thank you :)

Ideas for teens as my cousins are 11 and 13 and I've stocked up for them.

Lush do fantastic shower gels, shower jellies (so cool) and of course their infamous bath bombs.

Body sprays/perfumes never go wrong as it seems the in thing to carry them in their school bags.

A pair of Converse, you can't go wrong with these either.

New bedding and pyjamas, sounds crazy but a fresh sets has always been a joy for them.

Makeup wise I'd recommend Revolution also for their age range, alternatively a Boots voucher so they can run wild themselves.

Turt · 06/11/2019 22:09

Oh and either Birchbox or Glossybox for a subscription. I have both and they're great!

GwenCooper81 · 06/11/2019 22:10

Concert /theater tickets are a good call. We usually do a pop type of thing, but they're getting older so might have branch out into more grownup stuff.
I've already got my eye on some straighteners and a hairdryer. Mainly to save them using mine!.
A shopping trip sounds nice.. Sadly we'd argue and end up coming home with nothing! 🤣

GwenCooper81 · 06/11/2019 22:12

Thanks @Turt. They both like Revolution and I've seen some new pallettes so that's a way forward.
I'd you had to choose between the boxes which would you choose?. What's a shower jelly??

A fursuit for cosplay sounds epic!!. Wish mine liked stuff like that. Fab mum for attempting that :)

To be honest, I'm 40 and I'd love most of what's on your list OP SmileSmile

nancy75 · 06/11/2019 22:24

OP have a stiff drink to steady yourself before you look at the Jeffree Star make up, the prices are on the ridiculous side!
Gig tickets always go down well if the kids are in to music & it’s something to look forward to after xmas

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 06/11/2019 22:26

I'm following as I have a 13yo dd and am struggling for ideas!

So far I've got her;
some 3D puzzles which she likes,
a thick soft blanket
Body sprays
A new one of those metal water bottles with cactuses on (she loves cacti!!)
A Stranger Things hoody

I will also get her some make up, some other clothes, a canvas print of her dog, a new cactus!!

I'm on a type budget so designer clothes/make up/ bags are out sadly.

GwenCooper81 · 06/11/2019 22:27

I've just seen @Nancy75. Shocking!! Think it's all a bit too bright for either of mine. I'll show them but maybe not lol.
I know @CouldBeAGreatMum. I'd love some of the things mentioned. I'm so pleased I posted.
Just added a huge cushion with arms and a firm stuffing to my amazon basket. Just the kind of thing Dd1 would love for snuggling in bed. Ditto some LED rope lights. Looking at Teddy bear bedding now (possibly for me!)

I'm on a budget @girliefriendlikespuppies. Your list is fab. Pinching the bottle idea. I bought myself one last year and it's still going strong now (from Typo if anyone is interested). It keeps hot drinks a bit too hot lol.
I'd love a Stranger Things hoody ❤️. I've been saving all year so hopefully I can treat them. I don't go crazy, just gathering ideas

Can I ask where you got a canvas of your doggo? Sounds right up my DHs street. Is it a photo print or painting?. Fab idea :)

Redbubble is really good for tv/music/film t shirts & hoodies - sign up for their mailing list & you always get a discount code.

Turt · 06/11/2019 22:38

@GwenCooper81 I think Glossybox as it's a bit more luxurious with better products and it's somehow cheaper. I pay £8pm on a 12 month contract.

Shower jelly is literally a jelly in a pot you use to wash with. It's a really fun way to wash, dare I say it, even as an adult Blush

Greedycushionhoarder2 · 06/11/2019 23:09

The same ages as my youngest 2, luckily mine are into dance so ask for stuff to do with that so an airtrack and leg stretchers, other than that younger has asked for straighteners, hair dryer and curlers, both love hollister hoodies and they are great quality and wash and wear well so worth paying for, youngest also follows you tubers so has asked for merch from their shop, she also likes Riverdale so anything related to that. And another recommendation for revolution make up.

3littlemincemeatpies · 07/11/2019 01:25

I have a (nearly) 13 year old who I’m really trying to steer away from generic sports brands that she wants just because 24 of her friends have the same, so far it’s been a definite no the the Dino Clomper Fila trainers that she wanted, the £275 Michael kors bag and also the air pods, because we bought her the cheaper alternatives last year and she had lost by February!! Angry

She is getting an iphone upgrade and sprocket.
A big mirror for her bedroom (which I have had the notion to rather than buy new)
Mismatched earrings (stars/planets/moon etc)
Top shop puffa coat
Bigger version of her Fjalraven Khan bag
Bedding and star choker from OU
Dot journal
Yo Sushi voucher
Victoria Secrets perfume
sports strap for Fitbit
Scrapbook
Fairly lights
Vegi marshmallow and indoor marshmallow burner
Dressing gown
Some good old vintage Judy Blume books
Embroidery threads for making friendship bracelets
Some kind of face stuff.

I looked on the Jeffree Star site ........... my poor eyes , nearly had a migraine that is bright ! Xmas Shock

My DD is 17 , so a bit older than your DD but she likes :

Urban Outfitters (though I take her in there and she chooses something , I don't have a clue in that shop) , She gets her jackets in there , and last year the guinea-pigs bought her a navy top with signs of the zodiac (Generous guinea-pigs!)

Top-Shop but I get her a voucher so she can choose

Victoria Secret Pink for knickers - they do offers so maybe 5 for £28 , but they are good quality and last ages

Fenty Beauty (Rhiama) now available in Boots .

And Lush ( of course)

Anyone buying for teens , find out if they use Cruelty Free . Often at that age they become more aware of environment and social issues . There are far more Cruelty Free products (and most have a Leaping Bunny pr other sign)

GwenCooper81 · 07/11/2019 08:11

Brilliant lists. Thank you. UO seems to be a really good call. Lots of nice goodies on there.
Youngest has asked for those bloody stompy Fila trainers (almost identical to the Spice girl era ones I had!).
I like the idea of a voucher @70isaLimitNotaTarget. She'd love that. And the bonus would be she'd go with friends instead of driving me mad. Youngest likes River Island so I'll probably do the same for there.
Thanks all again. Keep 'um coming 😉😊

To add from earlier .......
Laughing here, my dd (12) thinks Hollister is very coolWink , maybe it depends on where you live Smile
She also loves addidas leggings, Adidas/ nike hoodies .
Lush is a hit here.
Fairy lights as mentioned before are cool, in her eyes.
She loves little fancy notebooks and pens .
Popsockets for their phones are a good stocking filler .
Onesies
Van's canvas shoes .
You say they like reading , would a kindle be any use to them ?
Dd loves her blue tooth speaker also.
A longer charging cable for their phones is another stocking filler idea .

Trewser · 07/11/2019 08:33

The instant camera from UO is also a good one for a 'big' present. Dd17 and dd13 both love theirs. You can get cute teeeny photo albums and frames too.

Saisong · 07/11/2019 08:46

Mine has asked for
A Jack Wills hoodie
Sheepskin slippers
Bubble bath
LOTS of books
A small black leather backpack for cruising town with her friends.

GwenCooper81 · 07/11/2019 08:46

I know nothing about brands neither do the kids really. If they like it they wear it which I guess is a good way to be!
Sports clothing is always a hit with the youngest.
They share my old kindle but both prefer 'real' books. Older Dd is reading the Anne of Green Gables books so lots of scope there.
Older Dd has a Polaroid and loads of cute frames and stuff. One of my her best presents. She's used it loads.
Thanks again all :)

OP posts:
GertiMJN · 07/11/2019 08:48

Like Trewser my dd loves instant photos.
I got her the little polaroid printer for her 15th birthday and she loves it.
It means she doesn't have to take a separate camera bur can print from her phone

GwenCooper81 · 07/11/2019 08:49

Jack Wills is one I do know. Dd1 has a grey hoody which is falling apart from wear. She uses it as a house coat type garment. Good call, I'll look into replacing that.
Sheepskin slippers sound divine. I'd quite like those! Any idea on where from? Thank you.

GwenCooper81 · 07/11/2019 08:51

Is that the same kind of thing as a sprocket GertiMJM?. Loads of fab ideas on here. So glad I asked. X

My daughter is 13 and like you say they are more fashion conscious once they are teenagers and also like to start experimenting with there make up etc, finding out what suits there skin colour. I think the Fila trainers you mentioned are the Fila Disruptor ones as my daughter has some but now a lot of them (certainly at my daughters school) seem to like the Nike Air Force trainers now. Vans are good as well. Urban Decay is a popular make up brand and they do some lovely eye palettes etc. My daughter likes some sports top like Adidas or Nike but also likes a lot of the clothes from New Look like the ripped jeans and pinafore style dresses and they are very reasonable I think.
I have bought my daughter:
Will be buying her a new phone nearer to Christmas
Nike Air 97 trainers (these also seem popular with the teens)
Gucci perfume
Vampire Diaries dvd boxset
Tommy Hilfiger hoodie and Nike Air top
Gift cards for ITunes,XBox
Also gift cards for H&M,JD Sports (her and her friends love going to town on the bus shopping)
Fjallraven Kanken Mini rucksack
Naked Decay Eye Palletes
Make Up Organiser.

Those are her tree presents and then got the usual stocking presents like books, lip balm, mascara,Impulse body spray, hair scrunchies, etc.
Hope this helps. ☺️
