Booths are releasing their Christmas book on 18th October! The start of my Christmas is sitting down and dreaming of getting everything in it.

@DerektheWonderdog, yes, small supermarket, most shops in Lancashire and the Lakes, known as the Waitrose of the North.

Letsgotospain · 27/09/2019 21:47

My faves are the cheeses, pies, wine and the stollen. 🤤

We buy loads of cheese and the deli salad mix as definites!

DerektheWonderdog · 27/09/2019 21:54

lotusbell I'm actually looking to Rightmove at houses in Lancashire 😁
But, excuse the stupid question ..... do you have Waitrose too? Or is there a Booths/Waitrose - North/South divide?

NoWordForFluffy · 27/09/2019 21:55

Yeah, there is Waitrose too! Or there is near us, but we're Merseyside / Lancs border.

Letsgotospain · 27/09/2019 21:56

We do have waitrose too, theres one near me in Chester.

We have a special Christmas trip to Booths. I disagree that Waitrose is better. Makes Waitrose look like Nisa. A work colleague presented me with the Christmas book with great ceremony last year.
I feel like a Dickensian Christmas urchin when I go.

lotusbell · 27/09/2019 22:03

Not as many Waitrose branches, no. I'm Lancashire/Greater Manchester border and nearest Waitrose, apart from motorway service station, is nearly 10 miles away, in Preston. There is a distribution centre nearby too.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/09/2019 22:04

I have more Booths than Waitrose, and Booths is nearer.

Letsgotospain · 27/09/2019 22:11

We go to the knutsford one, theres a definite "vibe" there. We once saw a man walking around with a brace of pheasants.
I didn't know you could buy their stuff on Amazon though.

Bellini, that's how I am too!

No delivery this year....

In order to satisfy customers with the quality and service they rightly expect from Booths, we have taken the difficult decision to not offer nationwide delivery for Christmas 2019.
There are a number of reasons for this. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day fall early in the week, making it difficult for suppliers to arrange delivery over the weekend.

But I live close enough GrinGrin

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 07:55

I'm in Wales and have never even heard of Booths until recently!! Super jealous

lazylinguist · 28/09/2019 08:04

I've got a Booths 3 mins away! No Waitroses up here though - I'm in Cumbria. No need for Waitrose if you have Booths though. No John Lewis nearer than Manchester though Sad.

Letsgotospain · 28/09/2019 08:05

Shame they're not offering nationwide delivery.

OP posts:
tweedledeedo · 28/09/2019 08:11

@lazylinguist good excuse for a trip to see the big tree at the Trafford centre though

bellinisurge · 28/09/2019 08:11

They are terribly terribly exclusive dewnchta know.

greenlynx · 28/09/2019 08:24

Could I get Xmas book by post? I’m up north but about hour away from the nearest store.

issano · 28/09/2019 08:27

Ooh yay! I'm 5 mins from a booths i feel sorry for all you southerners. My nearest Waitrose is also the Preston one which is 30 mins away but I think I've only been twice as there's no need when I have several booths within 20 mins of me.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/09/2019 08:37

@greenlynx, no, they used to post them but don't now. There's the online version as linked above, or I don't mind posting one to you.

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 08:37

Are prices similar to Waitrose?

NoWordForFluffy · 28/09/2019 08:40

Yeah. Prices are quite similar. And their yellow sticker reductions are bloody brilliant if you catch them right!

We mostly go for cheese and beer as they have a great selection, including an Icelandic beer DH likes.

bellinisurge · 28/09/2019 08:55

[whisper it] there is even cheap "value range" stuff.

But it's soooo lovely. Real old school posh Lancashire. Which will mean nothing to you if you have never seen the world of old school posh Lancashire.

Whitecandle · 28/09/2019 08:56

@bellinisurge never even been to Lancashire. But really want to now lol

bellinisurge · 28/09/2019 09:02

I'd suggest Clitheroe as a reference point but it might have "gone downhill " since I was there as my mum would say. Grin
