Hello all!
Exactly that, what has everyone bought so far and who for?! It’ll be good to get some inspiration and considering I’ve usually hated Christmas, last Christmas I loved the build up to it and the actual day itself and I am already enjoying mooching the sales looking for Christmas gifts for this year!
Happy Christmas!

@MamaRaisingBoys I’ve actually already bought one of those stuck on stories books but forgot! I bought it last year and put it away for Christmas this year but forgot about it πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ It’s a peppa pig one, cost less than Β£3 in the whsmith sale then I used a further discount code on it so it was even cheaper.

@imsorryiasked thanks, I'll take a look!

Fantail · 12/08/2019 05:08

I bought some earrings but ended up wearing them myself 😁

DD8 will be getting a new bike I think as she is too tall for her old one. I need her to choose so it will be a gift voucher for the shop. I want this bike to last until she’s ready for an adult one!

Will look out for some bike accessories like a water bottle holder from now on.

Catquest1 · 12/08/2019 08:02

I snapped up a nintendo 3ds yesterday on a fb selling site. Wasn't really looking for christmas presents but its perfect for ds whos currently very old version is falling to pieces.

70 quid with 3 games and a case - as new with the box. They still sell new for over 200 quid (which i would never pay if im honest)

louise5754 · 12/08/2019 12:38

Hi I've started a photo post if anyone can join 😊

Christmas 2019 PHOTOS of Gifts http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/Christmas/3663447-christmas-2019-photos-of-gifts

I've decided this year I'm not going to buy things just because they're on offer or reduced.

I'm hoping to buy less items this year (still same budget) rather than lots of cheap china crap that they don't bother with.

Chilledout11 · 12/08/2019 14:23

Oh thank you bike appreciate that.

louise5754 · 12/08/2019 18:14

I've bought my dd7 the tiny treasure boy and girl doll. That's it up to now.

daphine2004 · 15/08/2019 08:56

I’ve just bought the Melisa and Doug magnetic tree advent calendar from John Lewis. My son is 4 and I did chocolate last year, but figured he is still young enough to not remember and not expect chocolate everyday - there’s so much going on in December as it is so he won’t be missing out on any treats.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/08/2019 21:04

I bought a Kipling pouch for DD (mainly because the Monkey name was relevant to her) she can put pens/pencils in for school and the monkey on her keys .

And a shower gel for her Beauty Advent .
1 bought , 23 to go Grin

Ribeebie · 16/08/2019 21:07

I'd like to join in too please - I will have a 13m old at Christmas and not too sure what to get him. So far I've got him a few books, a coat and a wooden ride on trike which I've picked up in the sales. Hoping you can inspire me!

everythingisginandroses · 18/08/2019 16:53

Just ordered some books, 3 for DH and 1 for DS (historical novel, cartography, memoir and a biography) - won't say more in case either of them reads this! I have never started this early before Star

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/08/2019 21:54

Just ordered some advent numbers ( I do a Beauty Advent for my DD) . I normally buy adhesive stickers or felt numbers but these are like a tag label so I can re-use them.

She loves the idea of a little Beauty gift every day but it takes a load of planning . I want to buy things she''ll use and keep, limit the plastic tat and it has to be cruelty free .

I'm on a Roll now Xmas Wink

ImNotHappyaboutitPauline · 18/08/2019 22:34

@70isaLimitNotaTarget Possibly not if your DD is into the high end stuff but revolution beauty have a 70% off sale on their site right now. Their products are cruelty free and get good reviews, I've bought a few things from the range and been pleasantly surprised.

The sale includes some Advent/12 days of Christmas stuff too for anyone not making their own.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/08/2019 07:30

I'mnot she likes the Revoloution concealer but yes she's a fan of the high end brands .

I might buy a set from QVC ( Tarte or similar) and split it up .

She likes Barry M nail polishes .

Her Beauty Advent is part of her presents though but just spread out over December Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 19/08/2019 07:37

I've arranged for the in-laws to have the kids next month on a Saturday so I can do a present review / wrap / list. Then I'll know what's left to get! There isn't much I don't have though.

It's hard as neither child needs a 'big' present this year.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 19/08/2019 12:38

So far I've bought

DD(6)
A Barbie Ambulance clinic thing (reduced from Β£40 to Β£25- bargain!)
A mermaid costume for her build a bears (she'll also be getting a new build a Bear for her birthday a couple of weeks before Christmas)
Some unicorn bedding and a unicorn wall head decoration for her bedroom
Stocking fillers- stuff like pencil case, snap bands, scented pens etc from the Smiggle sale

DS (14months)
Wooden Play Kitchen from Aldi
A hop along doggy from ELC
Some bath toys

Nothing for anyone else yet. Not a clue what I'm going to get DH.

0pheIiaBaIIs · 19/08/2019 20:57

Absolutely nothing!

I'm usually all done by now and have two wardrobes full of stuff, and a kitchen cupboard shelf with various booze, biscuits and snacks on. This year I've decided to do things differently. DD is 23 and there's only me, her and DH. I always buy far too much of everything to the point that we're eating Christmas food from mid December to kid January, and there's nowhere to put any of the presents. It's been lovely - we don't drive/go on holiday etc so Christmas was always our big annual family treat. But this year I'm buying vouchers and a stocking for DD (which she is perfectly happy with) and me and DH are spending no more than Β£100 on each other. Sounds a lot but it's a MASSIVE reduction on what we usually spend.

I'm going to do more baking and less buying of crap (tinned biscuits, cheap sweets in time, chocolate) and Christmas dinner is going to smaller - I always cook far too much for the three of us.

So I'm going to relax until at least mid November! I'm rather looking forward to it and am excited for Christmas in a way I haven't been for ages. I tie myself into knots far too much usually which is crackers (pun absolutely intended) when it's just the three of us.

0pheIiaBaIIs · 19/08/2019 20:58

*mid January
*cheap sweets in tins

PinkDaydreams · 22/08/2019 11:25

One year old nephew finished and wrapped! He’s got a t shirt, building blocks, book, crayons, coloring book.
Going to try get DH to agree on a budget spending on each other. Suggested it last year but he wasn’t keen.
Haven’t got anything for mum yet, fed up buying a variation of the same thing every year so going to try get something different (although I know she will ask for the same things as last year!)

Xmas jumpers and hairbands etc got in the sale back in feb

Slippers for 2 of the 5 dc

A dressing gown that was on sale for dd1

Socks for all dc

Hair clips and scrunchies for dd2

Also got some tickets for Xmas things like Xmas at Kew and similar

MinervaVause · 22/08/2019 13:07

I’ve bought the same as every year, lego, lego and more bloody lego I love it really

All the lego was bought when our local toy store did a amazing β€œone day only” sale on certain lego sets. Think we only spent about 60% of what the actual cost should have been.

Ds1:
LEGO Ninjago Land Bounty
LEGO Ninjago Dragon Pit
LEGO Ninjago Ultra Dragon (sensing a theme here)
New Globe with constellations
New Camera
PokΓ©mon trainer box

Ds2
LEGO RC Freight Train
2x Extra Tracks
LEGO Hidden Side School
LEGO Hidden Side Bus
LEGO Pop up book
PokΓ©mon trainer box

We don’t have anyone else to buy for and apart from a couple of gifts each at birthdays, we don’t buy much else for the rest of the year so they get their lego fixes at Christmas.

PrincessConsuela12 · 23/08/2019 18:03

Arghh this thread is making me so excited!! I've got my Christmas list ready and starting next month but I've managed to get DH main present (EURO 2020 tickets) so everything else after that is relatively easy... still not sure what to buy a few people but I might just have a look around the shops for ideas

banskuwansku · 23/08/2019 20:54

I bought Nokia 3310 from Argos for Β£18.99. This is going to be Xmas present for dh. He needs second phone for holidays.
