Hello all!
Exactly that, what has everyone bought so far and who for?! It’ll be good to get some inspiration and considering I’ve usually hated Christmas, last Christmas I loved the build up to it and the actual day itself and I am already enjoying mooching the sales looking for Christmas gifts for this year!
Happy Christmas!

I haven't bought anything yet and feeling behind now. I'd already started this time last year.
I've got some ideas but waiting to see if I can get what I want on offer. DD's both showed an interest in the new Rainbowcorns. I'm hoping they go in the 3 for 2 in Argos when that starts.
DD2 is 5 and shes wanting art supplies and some board games. DD1 is 8 and will probably just want LOL anything and everything so I may get her one of the new LOL dolls.
DH - not an absolute clue yet. He's a nightmare to buy for.

Allthepinkunicorns · 09/08/2019 08:59

I got a smiggle advent calendar in the sale last Christmas and Christmas pyjamas from white stuff for my ds. I've got loads of craft supplies for his craft box. I've also got loads of bath bombs for my ds he loves getting bath toys and bath bombs for Christmas. I haven't got anything for dh or the rest of the family yet.

Isadora2007 · 09/08/2019 13:29

I’ve been buying loads recently so really need to sort out a proper list.

Uncle and his partner (both very well off and impossible to buy for)- a handmade pottery dipping bowl from a local arts festival- will buy some quality olive oil and nice vinegar closer to Xmas to parcel with this.

As above in a different colour for my foodie friend and her hubby.

Glass wall hanging small thing for SIL in her new lounge colour scheme.

Bargain clip-on reading lights for my cousins kids- will buy them a book to go with the lights.

Cath kidston apron and tea towel for my sister from the sale.

Starbucks reusable travel mug for BIL which I will get a Starbucks voucher and something edible to go with in dec.

A bargain digital photo frame for my mum- I will load it with some old photos and up to date ones for her too.

Far too much for my baby grandson- wooden toys and a wee backpack and clothes and more toys. He is almost 1 so too easy to buy for.

LED initial cushion covers with Xmas fairy lights for my smaller kids, grandchild and the kids best friends too.

Smiggle sale bits for daughters gym buddies as they were bargains.

Emma Bridgewater Xmas candle for neighbours. In sale.

There is probably more but I haven’t written it down yet...

sideorderofchips · 09/08/2019 13:36

Bought a small pack of cars for my sons stocking to go with his garage

Maykid · 09/08/2019 13:41

Bought 2 jars of cranberry sauce reduced to 25p each in Asda the other day. Dated December so should be fine. Can’t pass a bargain by.
Done most of my present shopping too. I like to sit back and enjoy advent knowing it’s all done.

banskuwansku · 09/08/2019 14:37

Lego sets for dc from Argos, Sainsbury's and Debenhams sales. I got all set reduced between 70-30% discount.
For dd reduced price pikmi pops and num noms.

duckling84 · 09/08/2019 18:21

I've bought 3 prefilled stockings for my 3 ds.
2 funko pop figures for ds1
Monopoly for millennials for dd
Christmas twig trees for dmum and dsis.

Most importantly, I have lists already written for everyone except ds2, so I know exactly what I need to get.

Jammiebammie · 09/08/2019 19:04

Great post, love reading through what everyone has so far.

I’ve pre ordered a couple of the LOL furniture sets but that’s all I have so far, I’m usually much further ahead but I’ve had a difficult summer and just out of hospital again on bed rest - trying to compile my lists now.

Debating on buying the Lol glamper now incase it’s out of stock nearer Christmas for dd(11) Older 2 are after air pod thingies so although price will be similar ish the size of boxes will be very different, may wrap in bigger boxes though!

Fragalino · 09/08/2019 22:23

Small Google home for each dc. On sale in john Lewis. I'm looking forward to the intercom aspect Grin

I'm turning thoughts as to what to get.

Isadora2007 · 09/08/2019 23:05

@duckling84 ooooh what is a twig tree and where did you get it please?

Chilledout11 · 09/08/2019 23:14

I have two birthdays before Christmas that i have sorted (spiderman mask and sound effect gloves, magic set, sharks and lot of art and craft stuff. Toy story stuff for other birthday and Lego)

For Christmas I have bought costumes (they love dressing up so I bought Where's Wally and a space suit for them and they will have those for world book day)

I bought a ghostbuster vehicle a spongebob square pants toy and kites. Lots of cheap little bits and pieces too. Will get them bikes very soon just waiting for deals to come up.

duckling84 · 10/08/2019 09:02

@isadora2007
The trees were from wilkos in the January sales. 6ft white twigs with colour changing balls on the ends of the branches (I've tried to post a photo but my app doesn't let me for some reason!)
We already have one and dmum and dsis were really admiring it last christmas so we got one for each of them. Think they were only about Β£5 or Β£10 in the end (rrp Β£50!)

BikeRunSki · 10/08/2019 09:31

@Chilledout11 - new bikes are released in September, all the big brands do their own launches then. There are big discounts on β€œlast seasons” bikes from about the middle of September.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/08/2019 13:15

Ooh , I have finally Bought Something:

A gift box for DD , it isn't Christmassy but the pattern on it is so lovely . She is 17 yo so all her presents tend to be smallish (and ££) so the wrapping is a huge part of it . She likes them all in a gift box (which she keeps to put things in under here bed)

SuzieBishop · 10/08/2019 20:37

I’ve only bought alcohol for Christmas Day so far πŸ™ˆ although I did really fancy a wine one night so had to take a bottle out of the stash!

NoodlingAlong · 10/08/2019 20:57

We went to the Manga exhibition at the British Museum a few weeks ago. They have a shop attached to the exhibition with some lovely Japanese bits and bobs. DD liked a few things so I went back there yesterday alone to get them before the shop disappears next week when the exhibition closes.

I will start thinking about advent calendars soon Grin. There has definitely been a whiff of September in the air over the last week. My thoughts always turn to Christmas planning when the DCs go back to school.

user27495824 · 10/08/2019 21:47

@noddlingalong I'm taking my dd12 to that next week, was it good? I am a bit worried her begging for things in the shop will spoil it!

CamdenTownie · 10/08/2019 22:18

Noodling I got a bath bomb advent calendar - only 12 days tho, in the boots sale just after Christmas for dd1, but for dd2 I'm thinking of getting 24 little things and wrapping and numbering them individually then putting them in a small box, they won't be expensive things and some days it's just be a chocolate or a pen etc. But I think she'd like the surprise element of it.

daphine2004 · 10/08/2019 22:27

Nearly done! We just buy throughout the year and keep a list. DS1 needs a main present and will ask him nearer the time what he wants, DS2 arriving in two weeks and have bought a few books, White Company coat and a sophie giraffe gift set. He won’t need much at all and we have all toys etc from DS1.

We don’t buy for loads of extended family and generally don’t do adults anyway, but there’s a great aunt and grandparents we always buy for.

All booze is bought and actually left over from last year as I found out I was pregnant Christmas Eve - definite mix of emotions there as I was so disappointed I couldn’t crack on with my pink gin!

I’ll order food from M&S in October, but have been toying with the idea to get it all from Morrison’s as have a stash of the Β£5 vouchers which would cover the whole cost.

Haven’t had an idea of what to get DH yet and his birthday falls before Christmas too. Think I’ll just have to ask this year.

NoodlingAlong · 11/08/2019 08:41

User - it was good - we went on one of the hottest days so I was very grateful for the air-conditioning. We also combined it with a studio ghibli film they were showing that evening. The shop can’t be avoided as the exhibition exit leads directly into the shop as these things often do. It is very tempting - which explains my second visit for Christmas presents. Maybe give your DD a set amount to spend? They do have smaller things, food, stickers, etc. Some of the items are obviously aimed at collectors.

Camden - I did that last year. A few years ago I bought some calendar small bags from Ikea and refill those each year. One year DD asked for a Jibanyan themed calendar, then another year it was Pusheen so I had to find 24 small Pusheen-related things! Last year she didn’t ask for a theme thankfully so it was just small things like hair bobbles, pens, lip balm, etc. DS is much easier - he always asks for lip balm.

NoodlingAlong · 11/08/2019 08:43

Ha! I meant DS always asks for Smiggle - not lip balm! Grin

imsorryiasked · 11/08/2019 09:10

@CocoLoco87 come and join us on the Christmas Bargains thread

StudentHelp · 11/08/2019 18:34

Bought a Ralph Lauren rugby shirt, pyjamas bottoms and 3 pack do boxers yesterday for BF and then got an email from topcashback that they’re giving 5% cashback today only - just my luck!

Also bought some bits for my sisters, such as Oliver bonas foot masks in the sale.
