Evening all! I'm not sure if this will be the last or the penultimate thread, but here goes!

Nero, O2 appears to be working now (conveniently now I'm home and don't need mobile data!).

I never believe it when they say they have no . At least Paddy is going for the missing / substituted stuff!

I'm currently waiting for the oven shelves to finish being cleaned (they've been going for 12 hours, so just need rinsing now really) then I can finish my pepparkakor wreaths. I've a feeling it might be a Pinterest 'nailed it' moment in comparison to the photo in the recipe book!

I’ve had enough 😫
The stupid incompetent moron of a delivery driver just came with the shopping. I ordered and paid for bags but no it turns up every single bastard item is loose. The useless delivery driver then says he has no bags on the van and refuses to carry the crates in, meaning I have to carry over €200 worth of food one by one and dump it in the hallway until I can move it to the kitchen.
I’m crying in pain because of my back and hip and then my grandad says I should be grateful for what I’ve got! Aye how about you try being grateful for the fact I’m working my fucking ass off to cook for 16 extra fucking guests you sprung upon me!

I’ve gone for a walk to clear my head and calm down, shopping can wait to be put away I’m past caring now!

Sorry had to rant. Sorry shouldn’t bring the thread down with my first world complaints. Will probably be back on later when I’m in a better mood.
Have a grand day everyone.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/12/2018 08:31

To be honest, I'd have told him to stick his extra guests when he sprung them on me if I was pregnant with SPD! I had two (consecutive!) Christmases whilst pregnant and I'm not sure I lifted a finger particularly. He's totally unreasonable to invite them, given the circumstances.

How he even knows 16 people without anywhere else to be is surprising too!

OP posts:
AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 08:50

It’s not so much the extra guests that bothers me, but the fact he’s then done nothing to help or contribute to them coming. Left it to me to do all the shopping, cooking, cleaning etc and then has the cheek to say I’m being ungrateful because I dared to have a rant about there not being carrier bags.
Paddy will be back soon to defuse the situation and it wouldn’t be Christmas without a blazing argument!
They are all senior so it doesn’t surprise me they are on their own, but I just feel like I’m being taken for a mug at times. I know I’m pregnant and irrational and I probably am being unreasonable and ungrateful.
I love my grandad, i do, but I was looking forward to a quiet Christmas with just paddy, my bro, my nephew and grandad. Especially after my dad’s death and being 27 weeks pregnant. A nice quiet Christmas before Addie arrives next year, but then these people will all be alone so that goes out the window.

I’ve calmed down now, just deep cleaning the oven whilst waiting for paddy! Thankfully I can do it sitting down!

NoWordForFluffy · 23/12/2018 08:58

But senior people have children and grandchildren too and it's quite normal to spend it with family.

And yes, he's decided it's your work as you're the woman. That makes me quite cross on your behalf.

You may find, as happened to me, that when you have a daughter you get increasingly angry with the sexism and misogyny in society. I have become far more of a feminist as DD grows up!

OP posts:
AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 09:05

That’s a good point actually! I know a few of them don’t have anyone at all, but surely most of them do. It’s too late now as we’ve got all this food, but next year is going to be a helluva lot different whether they like it or not! Next year it’s all about Paddy, me and Addie!

I never thought about it like that before but it’s so true, he said to paddy a couple days ago ‘oh you don’t need to go to the shops on Sunday, Acey can do that!’ Thankfully paddy put him in his place and made it very clear we are equals Grin

Ooo I can’t wait for that! I get very annoyed and angry at the stereotypes people are already giving Addie. ‘Ooooo a girl so she’s going to love princesses and all things pink, dollies and shopping’ bla bla bla. No, she will like what she likes as an individual! I certainly don’t fit the bill considering I love football, sport and hate shopping Grin

Mrsmadevans · 23/12/2018 09:05

Good morning everyone Xmas Grin
I am still here but after the puter fail, we had no t'internet all day yest and it has only just come back Xmas Hmm
I offered the BT man a cuppa and he wouldn't have one from me and he was sitting on his bum on the pavement looking so forlorn bless him lol. My Dbil offered him one as well as if l hadn't offered him one already lol!
I did feel sorry for him bless he must have been frozen.
Right well l will have to rudely cut and run yet again due to time constraints of gong up the parents Dad is more or less the same we will see what time brings , will catch up ltr now t'internet is ok. Have a great day everyone ! Xmas Grin Not long now lol Xmas Grin

AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 09:14

Ah, paddy came back with flowers for me Grin

He said it wasn’t too bad actually, there were quite a few people but it was all very civilised. He did say they were queuing to get in though as he was leaving, so it’s good that he got there early. He managed to get everything plus a few extra treats just for us bless him Grin

He has already told my grandad to back off and leave me alone considering most of this is for the people he invited willy nilly!

We are going to have to play fridge and freezer Tetris with all this food Xmas Grin

Mrs - glad your internet is back on, I hope you have a lovely day my dear Grin

NerosFiddle · 23/12/2018 09:58

Tesco order came with a few subs that all went back. Nothing that will ruin dinner though. Subs were mixed veg instead of peppers; melon instead of watermelon; chicken stock instead of gravy and I ordered breaded Brie and was given breaded chicken.

Philomensapie · 23/12/2018 10:48

You're heavily pregnant Acey! You need to sit down with Cake and Brew.

AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 10:50

This is meant to be a chocolate dinosaur.. looks more like my ex on a good day 😂Grin

Trapped my finger in the fridge so have a lovely bruised and swollen finger, I should not be left unsupervised 😂

We have deep cleaned the oven and gave the kitchen a once over. We are going to assemble the gingerbread house in a minute then it’s just a mountain of wrapping that needs to be done!

Philomensapie · 23/12/2018 10:51

DD lives in hoodies and joggers, her obsessions are Pokemon, FNAF and the Warriors books. Xmas Hmm

AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 10:51

Have no fear Philomena; 1pm is coffee time ☕️ and I’ve already had 2 mini flamingo cupcakes that paddy bought Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 23/12/2018 11:57

We went into town at 8am (even though the shops don't open till 10/11am) Sainsbury had browsing time so I got in there about 09.45 . The lights were really low though and everyone was milling about like a Zombie Movie Xmas Grin

DH went to the gym at 8am so I wandered about looking at all the Christmas paraphenalia (aka Tat) and noticing how many shop staff were in before 8.30 setting up ( no I didn't try to limbo dance under the shutters Look I only want one of those , I;ll leave the money on the till )

Waitrose do excellent crowd control, they make the shoppers leave a gap to keep the through space and then you watch how many people think "Oh -short queue" but get sharply moved to the back where there are at least a dozen people with overflowing trolleys .

Nearly there peeps

Seafoodeatit · 23/12/2018 14:42

Acey - that's a crazy amount of people to cook for you have my sympathies. I hope your fingers are feeling better too now. My dad's side are pretty sexist, it's probably why my dad can count the amount of times he changed my sister and I on one hand!

Fluffy - those wreaths look amazing, it's not often that I see things turn out exactly as they do in the photos! (Mine never do anyway!)

I'm on my phone with goldfish memory so I can only remember 2 posts at a time 🤭

Seafoodeatit · 23/12/2018 14:45

mrsmad hey you offered him a drink his fault if he'd rather freeze on his bum!

Nero I think substitutions are done at silly o clock in the morning, only way to explain breaded chicken instead of brie, surely any other brie would be more suitable and I can't believe they had no mixed veg of any sort!

WheelchairWoes · 23/12/2018 15:29

Good morning friends!!

fluffy Those wreaths look glorious!!

acey I'd be pretty pissed that he wasn't helping me and I'd probably start giving him tasks! 'Ok pops you have to help me do this or you aren't getting any pudding' hahaha

70 I'm laughing so hard about everyone milling about like a zombie movie!

Mrs If he was offered something warm and didn't' take it that's on him. Sorry you were without net for so long yesterday! I hate hate when that happens

Acey I love love your flowers!

So hubby has to work this evening and we forgot two gifts and tags for gifts so he'll have to run back out to the stores haha I'll wrap this evening too.

We do have all the food stuff we need to cook though so that's good. We'll start the roast in the crock pot about 10 am tomorrow and let it cook for 8 hours.

My little Lilah is asleep in her shark bed snoring and the kids keep singing Baby Shark at her.

Husband's work last night was dead, he's thinking tonight will probably be the same. Because everyone is off with family and shopping. You guys even going at 10 pm last night? We had to wait 34 minutes in queue because of how many people were out shopping lol

AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 15:41

The bottom of this cardboard box has just made me laugh a helluva lot more than it should Grin 😂
Paddy came in and when I showed him he started howling with laughter too, we are a perfect match 😂

Sea - aye it certainly is a crazy amount! My fingers bruised but I’d rather have that than this god forsaken sciatica! I’ve spent a lot of today laying on the floor in weird positions just to ease the pain briefly!
Ah well that’s charming isn’t it haha!

Paddy keeps referring to me and Addie as his girls; I love it Grin

We are going to assemble the gingerbread house soon. Paddy is waiting on amazon to deliver a balloon pump, I was like why do you need one of them?? He said ‘you can’t have a birthday without balloons Jesus wept!’ Okay my darling, chill out 😂
He may regret that idea with maverick around but we shall see 😂

AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 15:47

Wheelie - well my grandad hasn’t been back yet since he stormed out earlier because we had a blazing row 😂 honestly he acts like such a child at times!
He’ll be back later with his tail between his legs, he’s probably at the pub getting drunk 🤷🏻‍♀️
Thank you, I love them they are beautiful Grin I’ve had to put them in Addie’s room as Mav keeps making a beline for them 😂
Ah Lilah is having a snooze bless her Grin
Poor hubby having to go back out to the store haha, I don’t envy him!
You’ve just reminded me about the giant pile of wrapping I still have to do 😂

Philomensapie · 23/12/2018 16:46

Had steak and ale pie for lunch, penne bolognese bake for an early supper so DD can catch up on sleep, watching Pokemon: Kyurem vs the Sword of Justice. 😋😋

WheelchairWoes · 23/12/2018 16:48

acey I GOT YOUR CARD!! I LOVE Mav! Lilah has run off with the card so I can't share it with the world.

I love that box bottom I'm laughing up a storm.

When your grand comes home tell him he HAS to help tomorrow. You are in charge and he and Paddy are your slaves

My mom called. She's going to make us an apple crisp tomorrow to help with my Christmas Eve dinner!! They don't do anything on Christmas Eve so she said she can help me. She's nuts sometimes but then sometimes she'll do really decent things

AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 16:52

Wheelie - yay I’m so happy it arrived! I wasn’t sure if it would make it in time! I figured you’d like mav on the front Grin haha Lilah probably ran off with it thinking she’s found her brother LOL!
I keep giggling ‘don’t look at my bottom’ so funny 😂

Oh don’t worry, we told him in no uncertain terms that he is to help with the cooking on Xmas day, and also he is in charge of getting his friends here for dinner in Xmas day seeing as he’s the one who invited them!

Apple crisp sounds good, that’s nice of her to make it too!

We still haven’t made the gingerbread house or tackled the wrapping 🤷🏻‍♀️

AceyMac13 · 23/12/2018 17:08

Mav’s exhausted, he’s had a very long day LOL
