Okay so:
Turkey (with bacon)
Pigs in blankets
Stuffing
Sausage meat
Honey roasted parsnips
Roast potatoes
Carrots
Green beans
Cranberry sauce
Yorkshire pudding???

Is that it? I've never made one myself and I'm panicking that I've forgotten something? Also, do you do Yorkshire pudding for Christmas? What do you eat the rest of the day? Help!

I hate Turkey so we have a goose or a duck.

Roast: potatoes, parsnips, onions and swede.
Boiled: Sprouts, carrots and peas
I make skirlie for my stuffing, buy pigs in blankets and make my own cranberry sauce the day before.

Last year we had a roast parsnip, apple and hazelnut salad for a starter that was lush. Homemade Christmas pudding doused in brandy with a stick of holly in it and served with brandy butter for afters.

I'm feeding 12 this year (for 5 days over Christmas weeps ) so I'll probably add a soup course and a ham to go with the bird. And DH wants me to make trifle as well.

Going to spend this weekend making shortbread and gingerbread and chocolate crackle cookies to go in the freezer ready for Christmas.

Mulligatawny soup is v nice for the last bits of turkey.

Fry chopped onion, carrot and celery gently, add some curry powder, fry a little more. Add stock (from turkey carcass is good) or a chicken cube or two, simmer 20 mins.
Add a handful or two of basmati rice, simmer again till tender, taste and adjust seasoning.
Add chopped cold turkey and half an apple chopped small,, bring back to boil and simmer another 5 mins.

From your list I would drop green beans in favour of Brussels - usually with chestnuts and add red cabbage and ham. No Yorkshire puddings.

For the rest of the day we eat mince pies, cheese, some kind of Christmas dessert and of course, chocolate.

Any leftover Turkey,Ham and stuffing get's laid out with the buffet for the evening on Christmas day and boxing day and a few of us usually have a turkey and piccalilli sandwich for supper.

The potatoes and vegetables you can use to make up some bubble and squeak alot of people have that made up and serve it along side some poached eggs for breakfast or have it with cold carved ham and poached eggs for lunch on Boxing day.

Chicken with bacon

Pigs in blankets
Sausagemeat

Also roast gammon if at mine. I prefer to have a side of curried rice as well but I'm usually shouted down Grin

If you have an actifry or airfryer, you can reheat roast vegetables and potatoes in there and they are amazing.

DP and I had the Yorkshire pudding debate the other night. I say that as much as I adore them, they belong on a Sunday dinner plate but NOT a Christmas dinner plate. He says there’s no difference between a Sunday roast and Christmas dinner so he is having them even if I don’t. We are both from Yorkshire as well so this was quite a heated debate Grin.

I’m a veggie but DP isn’t. He has turkey, I usually make a cheese and parsnip roulade for DC and I (Delia Smith recipe).
I make veggie pigs in blankets
Roast potatoes
Onion gravy
Honey roasted parsnips and chantenay carrots
Sprouts
Sage and onion stuffing

Tried making cranberry sauce, bread sauce and braised cabbage in the past but nobody liked it.

Also I usually bake a dessert and it’s different every year but this year with a new baby breastfeeding around the clock I can’t be bothered so I bought the Aldi chocolate carousel- it’s beautiful!
