Okay so:
Turkey (with bacon)
Pigs in blankets
Stuffing
Sausage meat
Honey roasted parsnips
Roast potatoes
Carrots
Green beans
Cranberry sauce
Yorkshire pudding???

Is that it? I've never made one myself and I'm panicking that I've forgotten something? Also, do you do Yorkshire pudding for Christmas? What do you eat the rest of the day? Help!

Is cauliflower cheese a thing? I have never heard of Christmas cauli cheese! We have veggie haggis for the vegetarians.

Mumshotel · 26/11/2018 21:57

And parsnips

tryinganewname · 26/11/2018 21:58

Choice of meat (we're veggie so it's a Quorn roast)
Mashed potatoes
Roast potatoes
Pigs in blankets (veggie version)
Yorkshire puddings - I cannot believe people have Christmas dinner without!
Roast carrots
Roast parsnips
Sprouts
Stuffing
Vegetable tray bake (from M&S)
Red cabbage
Cranberry sauce
Apple sauce

I think that covers it!

MN appears divided on Jamie’s gravy but it’s christma dinner winner for me

www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/chicken-recipes/get-ahead-gravy/

I buy my stuffing pre made and then make a bread sauce.

It’s a massive roast dinner delight. But I enjoy the turkey, stuffing bread sauce sandwich in the evening more and then bubble on Boxing Day with pickles etc.

I make mini Yorkshire puddings in a muffin tin a week before, freeze on a tray and then pop in the oven whilst dishing up to free up space.

No sausagemeat, add good gravy & many more veg. We also have sprouts, cauliflower, leeks and swede.

E20mom · 26/11/2018 21:58

Definitely cauliflower cheese and lots more different veg

confusednorthner · 26/11/2018 21:58

Everything above 😀

Amazonian27 · 26/11/2018 22:00

All ok except we don’t do Yorkshire’s.
But we do have 3 types of potatoes Mashed, roast and croquet potatoes as DD doesn’t eat meat
Red cabbage
We always have a cranberry and orange stuffing really good
Brussels
Pudding

Rosethistle7 · 26/11/2018 22:02

Hi OP,

Sounds like you've got most of planned! We always have bread sauce and sprouts too.

Babdoc- would love to get the recipe for chesnut log if you feel like sharing it!

greendale17 · 26/11/2018 22:03

Why the obsession with sprouts? Horrid

MarxandMarzipan · 26/11/2018 22:03

What?!?

A580Hojas · 26/11/2018 22:04

We don't have cauliflower cheese but we do have a lot more veg. Definitely sprouts, swede and potato mashed together, carrots, peas, cauliflower or broccoli, red cabbage with apple, roast parsnips, roast potatoes.

Bluerussian · 26/11/2018 22:05

Sounds delish! Can I come?
I like sausagemeat and stuffing.
Deffo Yorkshire puds.
Yum.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 26/11/2018 22:05

We usually have turkey and roast ham or beef. Always two types of meat,

Mumshotel · 26/11/2018 22:07

That gravy sounds tasty but expensive and a faff. I buy the fresh pouches for Xmas dinner. Oh I forgot cranberry sauce.
I love cauliflower cheese but it's not for Christmas dinner... have you not seen the Peep show episode that addresses this ha. The cauliflower literally ends Christmas day.

Newyearwhoohoo · 26/11/2018 22:09

Can I throw this suggestion into the mix - roasted sprouts. Very popular in our house last year.

CheekyFucker · 26/11/2018 22:11

I have chestnuts. Lots of them nobody else likes them. Essential Christmas Dinner ingredient for me. With turkey etc. I am not that weird.

DailyMailDontStealMyThread · 26/11/2018 22:12

Or sprout leaves separated and cooked with shreds of bacon.

Mumshotel · 26/11/2018 22:17

Replace the green beans with sprouts.
What are you doing for Breakfast? We have soda bread, fresh coffee, cream cheese, smoked salmon and bucks fizz.

Mumshotel · 26/11/2018 22:18

Roasted sprouts sound delish. Have you ever tried sprout soup. Lush

CherryPavlova · 26/11/2018 22:18

Turkey
Chipolatas
Gravy
Bread sauce
Cranberry sauce
Roast potatoes
Roast parsnips, shallots and carrots
Sprouts with chestnuts and bacon
Chestnut stuffing (sausagemeat)
Cranberry and orange stuffing (bread based)
Mashed swede
Broccoli
Yorkshire puddings (I know one shouldn’t but the children demand them)
Tomato tart tatin
Cauliflower cheese

mumsastudent · 26/11/2018 22:20

& butter beans with all of the above (mouth watering & bathroom scales are looking at me with eyes raised :) )

DreamsofJacaranda · 26/11/2018 22:20

I’d never heard of Yorkshire puddings with Christmas dinner until I came on Mumsnet Confused
