Here we go again. I think the last thread was the quickest ever, so this one probably won't even get to Halloween, but we shall see!

I'm now trying to read the Argos Christmas catalogue🎅🎄, but it's dark in here today, and I have to draw the curtains if I want the light on, or all the nosey buggers keep looking in our window. I need a Maglight.

Redgreencoverplant · 15/10/2018 12:56

Sorry to hear that fluffy :(

PhilomenaButterfly · 15/10/2018 12:56

I also bought some shortbread stars.

NerosFiddle · 15/10/2018 13:38

Sorry to hear that Fluffy.

We have all the birthdays coming up. It's mine today, ds on Halloween, dh at the start of December and dd is the week before Christmas.

FurForksSake · 15/10/2018 13:51

Sorry Fluffy, I am sure it'll all come out in the wash x

PhilomenaButterfly · 15/10/2018 13:53

Happy birthday Neros! 🎁🎂🎈🎉🎊

NoWordForFluffy · 15/10/2018 13:58

Happy birthday, Neros!

My sister is 19 Dec and DH 23 Dec. Awkward buggers.

Afternoon Grin

I love my new midwife, she’s awesome! Grin when I told her I’ll be calling my wee princess Lorelai, she jumped up and shouted ‘bejesus that’s a grand name!’ 😂 she’s so funny! My blood pressure is fine thank god! She said I need to pop in weekly just to get my blood pressure done, as well as seeing her for routine appointments.
Been to the opticians, they can’t see anything wrong with my eye. My prescription has changed slightly, but they said it’s probably just hormones, but to keep an eye on it. I’m a lot more relaxed now after having a professional look at it!

Mrs - thank you, I love the flamingoes too Grin

Thank you biddy - I’m so glad to be home, feels like I’ve never left Grin I’m in awe of how much you do, you must never sleep!

Thanks Philomena - I love the travel system too! Hopefully my eye will be better once this wee angel is born next year!

Forksake - I don’t normally like fruit cake, but now I have a massive craving for it, thank you Grin

Sorry to hear you didn’t get the job fluffy - I’m sure bigger and better things will come
Your way soon Flowers

Happy birthday Nero’s - hope you have a grand day!

My birthday is Xmas eve - I like to be awkward Grin I hate the fact it’s all over in 2 days for me though!

I’m off to do a spot of Christmas shopping now, so many people left to buy for!
Have a grand day everyone Grin

Heavystream · 15/10/2018 15:11

Happy Birthday Neros🎉

We’ve just got news that we should be moved in to our new home by two weeks!.

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 15:41

Does anyone know where I can get a nice photo album for 10x8 photos? All I can find is 6x4 Hmm

Redgreencoverplant · 15/10/2018 16:37

Happy birthday Neros and fab news Heavy :)

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/10/2018 17:00

Happy birthday Neros

Wreck could you use a 12x12 scrapbook from somewhere like Hobbycraft? You'd need acid free spray mount or photo corners to stick your photos in but you'd have enough space to write captions or record memories too.

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 17:17

Woolly my mum has asked for one for Christmas! I can't see that they even make them though 🤔

Seafoodeatit · 15/10/2018 17:29

Acey that looks lovely :) Glad to hear your new midwife is nice. That's such a fantastic birthday! no chance of anyone forgetting it!

wreck it'll still be amazing with or without snow. www.notonthehighstreet.com/begolden/product/large-leather-photo-album-gold?istCompanyId=aa76f5e6-d733-4e56-8409-574cea196cc9&istItemId=xmxipmrxra&istBid=t&DGMKT=FID__TID_aud-319772450041:pla-381432438843_PID_141541&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9ZDeBRD9ARIsAMbAmoZxH-XeZgw1rKAAlYZz5RA6p2xfvQ34iA8vrkaDiEkpa2nc8lBeW2MaAkntEALw_wcB this says 'Alternatively a single photo up to 10x8" per side will fit with a good border.'

biddy sorry if you've already said (baby brain) but what's your evening course? is this accounting or am I thinking of another member?

philomena we have voile curtians in the living room behind our normal curtains for this reason! we have a particularly nosy neighbour on our road who would just stand there staring...

Nero Happy Birthday! October is the best month for birthdays!

Fluffy I'm sorry to hear that, onwards and upwards, hopefully something really good is just around the corner. Flowers

That sainsburys cake looks similar to the M&S one - we got it last year and it was delicious so we're getting it again this year. I'm making christmas pudding for the first time this year and using a mumsnet members recipe, no idea what's possessed me as I hate fruit cake!

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 17:44

I love that sea but way over budget

Seafoodeatit · 15/10/2018 18:00

wreck my advice is look at wedding albums as they tend to be big and can fit bigger photos on. www.harrisoncameras.co.uk/pd/caracas-gold-photo-album-tradtional-style-125x1125-inches-overall_00001730 this one for example fits up to 12 x 10 per page.

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 18:02

Thanks! I'll take a look. Luckily I have a while to find one Grin

Seafoodeatit · 15/10/2018 18:09

That's a good point Grin. Thankfully I have much less to do this year as it's a struggle every year - nobody ever says what they want and my mum trots out the same I don't want/need anything every year!

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 18:16

I have such a big family. It's a nightmare as we don't have much money but I have five grandparents, two aunts two uncles, four sisters, a brother, a niece and nephew etc etc

Seafoodeatit · 15/10/2018 18:22

wow that is big! DH only has one surviving grandparent, mine have sadly all passed away. I have a large extended family (38 first cousins but only two on mums side, dad has a looot of siblings .. ) but they're abroad and I don't talk to most of them so I'm excused from buying them anything. On dh's side we're planning on doing a secret santa type thing for siblings and partners this year as I think it'll be easier. I've bought everything in previous years and his siblings are so bloody cheap and clearly put 0 thought into what they get, I don't even get a text for my birthday from BIL's, DH gets something but it's always really late and usually something duff, think it was a book on beers for his 30th from one of them.... We only have 1 niece so that's easy enough at least.

WreckTangled · 15/10/2018 18:25

I did suggest to my aunt that instead of gifts I could contribute to the food instead but she said 'oh no just get us a box of matchmakers or something' but I would be so embarrassed to just give that!

FireflyGirl · 15/10/2018 18:53

I thought it was always snowy in Lapland Blush Victim of advertising... Sounds wonderful, Wreck

Sorry about the job, Fluffy Flowers. Fingers crossed for the next one!

Acey - I had the Ooh La La Cosatto with DS, I loved it. It fit all my criteria, plus it was so pretty! I was gutted when he grew out of it Grin

MrsM I don't usually speculate on whether anyone is pregnant or not, but I did look twice at last week's photos...

Seafood your cousin count sounds similar to mine - my dad is one of 11. We don't buy presents, except for the children of the ones I see quite often. Otherwise, I think we'd be bankrupt!

Happy birthday Neros and fab news Heavy CakeFlowers

BiddyPop · 15/10/2018 19:07

Nah, nothing so high falutin’ as accountancy - I’m learning how to read maps for boats Grin

Happy Birthday Nero

Sorry to hear about the job Fluffy - what’s for you won’t pass you by.

CrazyBaubles · 15/10/2018 19:53

Sorry about the job Fluffy

I am on the zombie bench again today. Ddog1 has doggie dementia and spent last night howling / whining every few hours 😴 She's oddly bright and puppy-like today though.
I'm not sure how I managed to function in work today.

I've been reading about the amount of presents people buy. For ILs I would love to do a secret santa for adults - we currently buy for FIL, SMIL, SIL1, her DH and 3 DCs, and SIL2 (and her partner this year - first time she's had one). Would happily buy for the DC but spend a good amount of money on one adult. Don't think they'd accept that though and I would miss my traditional mix of lovely smelling candles, good quality booze and chocolates FIL always buys for me

NerosFiddle · 15/10/2018 20:57

Thanks all for the birthday wishes.

I think I'm the one that you're thinking of Seafood, I'm doing Sage computerised accounts. I absolutely hate it, but if it gets me a decent job at the end of it, it'll be worth it.

DH family have decided that they're doing Kris Kringle this year between them, and not doing any presents for children.
