A place to put suggestions of what your kids ages and favourite toys have been as a tool for those who need ideas.

My kids are six and four. Stuff they have loved and played with....

Dd(5) bag of assorted size and colour marbles.
Ds(3) dinosaurs that come with legs which can be screwed off and on again.

Dd and Ds(2) a small "proper" guitar with four strings and no discernable chords.

My ds is 12 years old and hoards lego tyres, dvds and hairy yaksicks. :o

Admittedly, he's not neurotypical

catsofa · 07/09/2018 19:42

DS 3.
Play dough, toy kitchen stuff, sparkly temporary tattoos, some sort of a car racing track thing (anyone know what's good?)

DSD 11
Sparkly temporary tattoos, unicorn power bank to charge her phone, mermaid leggings (metallic), smiggle stuff

DSD 13
Large capacity power bank to charge her phone, nail wraps, H&M voucher, Hunger Games stuff

MrsPworkingmummy · 07/09/2018 20:18

DD age 6: Spends most of her time playing with her doll's house and barbies. Also loves watching youtube on her tablet. For Christmas we are buying her the sylvanian families grand department store and lol dolls.

DD(7) Barbies, LOL dolls, anything unicorn, converse and lush.

WaitingForSunday17 · 07/09/2018 22:04

Dd - 2, will be 3 around Christmas: shopkins, Playmobil, hatchimals, Disney princess magiclip dolls, sylvanians, Mia and me dolls, Shimmer and Shine dolls, dolls’ house - anything that’s a little figure she can role play with really. Any small world play. No interest in the play kitchen, or shop. No interest in jigsaws or building blocks. At the moment it is ALL small world play.

Ds - 9 - ipad, football and Playmobil castles.
I’d say between ages 4-6 it was all dinosaurs, then it was Star Wars and now it’s football. He will probably get tickets for something for Christmas since he has never played with toys all that much, not like dd does anyway, and he is now outgrowing them. He’s always liked books and board games though whereas dd isn’t that interested in either.

NualaCassia · 07/09/2018 22:10

My ds1 is 9. He generally plays with LEGO and Nerf guns, science kits and coding apps, telescopes and Pokémon, he reads and likes board games.

For Christmas he’s getting (Minecraft) LEGO x2, a new telescope, pokemon Card sets, “knot it” knot making kit, the George’s secret key to universe books, a board game and some extra bits and pieces for his stocking.

Ds2 is 8 next week, he plays with LEGO and Nerf Guns, dinosaurs and character figures, he draws and makes stop motion videos, he reads and likes board games.

For Christmas he’s getting (Jurassic World) LEGO, more (Jurassic world) LEGO, more (city arctic) LEGO (3 sets altogether) A peacekeepers Military base with army figures, Nat Geo Dino fossil dig kit, the Harry Potter Books box set, a board game and other bits and pieces for his stocking.

My daughter is 15 months old and her favourites right now are her ball slide/run, her wooden make up set and any board books with lots of bright pictures. Smile
She also is really into anything she can climb on and ride at the mo; at home she has a rocking horse and a little pink ride-along car thing that she seems to be getting more interested in lately.

EdHelpPls · 07/09/2018 23:44

Dd1 almost 16 - makeup, music (streamed rather than CDs) , art supplies

DD2 almost 5 little figurines like lol, shopkins, my little pony. Rainbow fairy books. Art supplies, play doh, family board games - monopoly jr, guess who, ludo, snakes and ladders. Pretty dresses that go out in a circle when she spins. Scooter, swing that’s like a surfboard so someone can be on it with her.

Dd3 almost 2 Play doh, little figurines ( see above!) books with photos of animals etc (priddy books do some good ones). Chalk, paint. Bath tints. Sparkly clothes but not skirts or dresses as they just get in the way of her dangerous climbing adventures.

Redgreencoverplant · 08/09/2018 06:45

DS was almost 2 last year and has loved his play kitchen, tea set and wooden train track. This year he will get a doctor's set, more train track plus he has developed a love of Duplo and marble runs

MakeUpGirl · 08/09/2018 09:02

DD 4.5 loves small world play - shopkins, playmobil, dolls house, paw patrol mostly. She also loves board games. Only really interested in role play when she has a friend to play with and then will play shops, cooking and doctors. The one thing she’s not especially interested in is baby dolls but again when she has a friend they’ll take their babies for a walk with their toy prams

trilbydoll · 08/09/2018 09:06

DD1 5yo wants all the plastic glittery stuff but actually only plays with dressing up box, and rôle play toys, she likes to have the main part in any game rather than small world play.

DD2 3yo dolls, duplo and anything she can collect and make a 'big circle' with like Lego cards, marbles, shells etc.

myusernameisnotmyusername · 08/09/2018 09:18

DD 5 likes squishies (although I've resisted buying her any!) hatchimals, enchantimals, baby dolls, my little pony. Hot wheels garage and Lego. Doesn't play with toy kitchen much any more. She had quite a bit of interactive stuff last year but doesn't play with it much. She also loves drawing and colouring but got a big art set last year.

Sarahandduck18 · 08/09/2018 09:20

3yo fire engine

catsofa · 08/09/2018 10:13

DS is 3. I put out some stickle bricks he'd never seen before this morning in the hope of a lie in. He's still upstairs engrossed, ignoring his breakfast.

louise5754 · 08/09/2018 10:19

DD's are 6 and 8.

They have (but hardly play with)
😡😡

Squishes
Blind bags
Enchantimals
Fingerlings
Furbys
LoL Dolls
Play Mobil
Arts and Crafts
Tamagotchi
Dolls
Little animal or character figures

Shelby1981 · 08/09/2018 16:34

DS is 2, was 1.5 last Christmas and looooved his play kitchen with pots and pans from Ikea and tea set, wooden cutting veg etc. This year he's getting a wooden train set and I'm not sure what else. Currently obsessed with vehicles but he's go loads of cars etc already

PiggeryPorcombe · 08/09/2018 16:41

Dd 10

LOL dolls
Sylvanians
Lego Friends
Smiggle crap
Stationery
Dork Diaries
Dotty Detective books
Roblox on PC

Ds 11

Lego
Roblox
Fortnite
Guinness Book of Records type books
Any non fiction relating to cars

Great idea for a post op. Ds is v hard to to buy for so I’m hoping for some inspiration here.

FresasAndFrambuesas · 08/09/2018 16:42

DD5 loves Lego, but not so much with specific kids add with the huge tub of just bricks and windows she got for her birthday, she's very creative with making things from it them uses it for small world play.

Other favourites are schleich animal figures/ stable/ Sylvanian families dolls house. And snap circuits. And marble run. Also occasionally dolls, this definitely goes in phases.

This year for Christmas she wants a globe, and possibly a newborn style doll, she keeps a running list in between her birthday and Christmas Grin

Oh no, I killed the most useful thread ever Shock

FeedingFrenzy5 · 09/09/2018 15:37

DS - 3. Duplo, especially plain blocks as pp said. His easel (blackboard on one side, whiteboard on the other) so he can always pick up a crayon and draw. Lift the flap non fiction books - eg dinosaurs, human body, bugs etc. We also went through a phase of loving those little puzzles in a bag, we used to take them everywhere.

dementedma · 09/09/2018 15:40
