A place to put suggestions of what your kids ages and favourite toys have been as a tool for those who need ideas.

My kids are six and four. Stuff they have loved and played with....

Dd(5) bag of assorted size and colour marbles.
Ds(3) dinosaurs that come with legs which can be screwed off and on again.

Dd and Ds(2) a small "proper" guitar with four strings and no discernable chords.

DD is 9 and would like an electronic keyboard or Harry Potter Lego

DS is about to turn 6 and wants a punchball and boxing gloves 🙈 and a new football strip. He's asked for Jurassic world Lego and Lego tape for his birthday.

Finlaggan · 09/09/2018 17:38

DD is 9 and still plays with Playmobil often. Specifically the school, house and camper van but I'm not buying anymore as I don't think this stage will last much longer.

DD nearly 6 plays with Lego a lot, likes Pokemon cards and some Playmobil but not the castle sadly which has largely collected dust over the last year.

Isadora2007 · 09/09/2018 20:56

DD9 loves Cosmo the robot (I expected him to be mostly ignored but have been pleasantly surprised) and little stationery bits and bobs and her iPod.

Dsnearly6 loves imaginext sets and figures, Star Wars, hotwheels and nerf guns.

anotherangel2 · 09/09/2018 21:01

DD will be 2 1/2 at Christmas as loves her Ikea kitchen, baby and buggy, play doh, jigsaws, letter numbers (magnetic letters and numbers), painting and duplo. Not a huge fan of small world.

PhilomenaButterfly · 09/09/2018 21:03

Nearly 11 and 7.

DS 7 Lego, Lego, Lego

DD nearly 11 Pokemon cards

Belletower · 10/09/2018 12:55

DD (4) Loves Hatchimals, Fingerlings (which sold out last year!!), Frozen lego collections.

Anything that sparkes, has big eyes and farts!

DS (7) loves Lego, Superzings, Batman and Ghost Busters!

LiverbirdNo1 · 10/09/2018 13:33

DS is 2.9, will be 3 at Christmas. He adores his wooden train track, cars/vehicles and his balance bike. He also loves books and puzzles and any of sort messy play, cooking, painting, digging etc. He sometimes plays with but is mostly not interested in - small world play, lego, role play. This year he will be getting a pedal bike, a mini football goal, a doctors play set, more books including a first encylopedia type book, bits for his railway, more Thomas bits (some of this is for his birthday and some for Christmas!)

Thecomfortador · 10/09/2018 23:57

Ds 3 - lightning mcqueen anything, cars and construction vehicles, jigsaws, stuff that lights up / makes a noise, gruffalo, anything that can be pulled apart (maybe even constructed?), large open spaces to run around (difficult to wrap).

Ds 4 months - cuddles, songs and anything he can reasonably grasp and get towards his mouth.

PhilomenaButterfly · 11/09/2018 08:18

DD 11 tomorrow has just asked for 2 buckets of Lego Creative bricks for her birthday.

lindsey077 · 11/09/2018 12:34

DD 13 - Ukulele, Nintendo switch, phone, art stuff (alcohol markers, acrylic paint), Steven universe, board games (truth bombs), keep talking and nobody explodes

DD 11 - Guitar, lego, sewing (she makes clothes for her younger sister's dolls), reading, anything with a dog on it

DD 5 - Lego, small toys - Melissa and Doug did a big pack of mini ponies that get played with often, fur real cat, leappad, playmobil, usborne puzzle books

Gardeninginsummer1 · 11/09/2018 12:41

Dd5.... loves anything small and fiddly like shopkins. She's horse mad and we have tons of schleich horses and a stable which is the main play thing at the moment. She also loves anything unicorn, anything glitter and anything soft toy.
I have purchased a rainbocorn which tbh looks shite but it encompasses the 3 likes above so I'm sure she'll love it.

Drummingisfun · 11/09/2018 13:02

My DD is almost 3 and her favourite thing is a mini trampoline (like an exercise trampette). She also likes her baby dolls and their pushchair. She pretend cooks in her little wooden kitchen too.
Loves simple jigsaws and 'reading' her books.

DS is almost 5 and currently plays with playmobil, dinosaurs, duplo, cars. He likes books about dinosaurs, space, and he likes dressing up in various superhero type costumes. He would like some guns and a crossbow but we have vetoed those suggestions!!

parcelandpeony · 11/09/2018 13:31

DS 5 - More than anything else, he loves action figures and figurines: dinosaurs, superheroes, Pokemon. He also loves playing 'sword fight' with his toy sword.

GreenMeerkat · 11/09/2018 14:11

DDs are 3 and (almost) 5. They are into the same things which are primarily My Little Pony Equestria Girls, LOL dolls, small character figures they can play in various scenarios involving school, doctors, airports etc. Lego, play doh, colouring etc...

dameofdilemma · 11/09/2018 16:33

Dd 6 -
My Little Pony.
Equestria Girls.
Playmobil.
Paw Patrol and PJ Masks occasionally but think I can Ebay that soon.

Everything is just an accessory to long, complex My Little Pony related games...so all she really wants is more MLP (cause 5 Rainbow Dashes isn't enough).
And that fresh hell known as Eq Girls.

Nuffaluff · 11/09/2018 16:45

DS aged 8 - plays with schleich animals, drawing, sometimes likes Lego and figures of things he’s just seen the film of! Loves non-fiction books.
DS aged 3 - changes his mind all the time, one week pj masks figures, the next transformers, super wings, etc. Anything that’s on the TV - he likes playing that.

CaseFace30 · 11/09/2018 16:51

Does anyone have good ideas for a 1 year old?

itisthattimeagain · 11/09/2018 16:54

@FeedingFrenzy5 can you tell me what brand the puzzles in a bag are ? Or a link pretty please Grin

itisthattimeagain · 11/09/2018 16:58

@CaseFace30 boy or girl ? My DS really started to get into cars about 1. Any cars, but he also really liked toot toots plus had a play kitchen from about 18 months.

Nopoohbear · 11/09/2018 17:05

Awesome thread.
For his bday Ds 2 got a train set that’s part of a table with a drawer underneath. He loves it and the storage is so helpful for all the wooden tracks, trains, cars and bits.
Also loves his easel which is a white board 1 side and black board for chalk on the other- it was from ikea.
Another thing he still loves is wooden chopping vegetables and a mini wooden kitchen.

Think I’m going to get him a doll and buggy as he’s due a sister soon, one of those Melissa and Doug board things with lots of locks to unlock and maybe a scooter for Xmas

PhilomenaButterfly · 11/09/2018 17:33

CaseFace a Scuttlebug!

KavvLar · 11/09/2018 18:16

Dd1 is 8 going on 16 🙄 she likes anything Harry Potter, Shopkins, Barbie dolls, Smiggle type stationery, bath bombs and Lush, drawing and craft. She is just getting into Lego.

Dd2 is 4. She loves Lego and will spend hours at it. She also loves playing role play games with soft toys, schools etc, and playing babies, kitchens and shops. Happyland is also a hit.

CaseFace30 · 11/09/2018 18:54

@itisthattimeagain a boy. It's his birthday next Monday so I need stuff that'll hopefully last the year or can get staggered use.
Just bought him a road map rug so was thinking of getting him some cars.

GruffaloStick · 11/09/2018 20:09

I don't think their sex really enters into it at 1 with regards toys ConfusedGrin
