It's 18° by 7am here.

Heavystream · 19/09/2018 11:46

Thank you FFS I will have a look into it
Philomena I love strong boys names. I know Alan will definitely get mixed opinions but I think it’s a lovely sounding name!

WreckTangled · 19/09/2018 12:05

Look what I found! Didn't buy though

I also have a summer-born DS (late July) who appears to be loving school. Holding him back wouldn't have been right for him.

I would research how to ask / the implications, and then only decide when you have to. So much can change so quickly with small people.

I'm on my lunchtime walk. Hopefully I won't end up in the Mersey! 😂

How much was that, Wreck?!

WreckTangled · 19/09/2018 13:18

£4.99 so not bad!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2018 13:19

That's good! Must resist though!

DS2's birthday is August 22nd. When he started school, the law was still that if you deferred them they'd start in year 1, so no advantage. He's behind in a few subjects. 2 years ago in year 1, his teacher said that we couldn't "keep using his being summer born as an excuse." I kept my mouth shut, but there have been studies showing that even summer born 11yos are more likely to be behind. Hmm

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2018 13:35

I think what needs to be remembered is that every child is different. Some kids will struggle whatever their birthdate, and some just won't. But you can only do what's best for your child at the time of the deadline.

DS has been in preschool since the September after he was 2, just 2 mornings at that age, and I swear he wouldn't have been as happy to go if he hadn't been there for so long.

Fluffy you are brave. We don't have nice breezes here unfortunately, and I've had too many instances of bringing a mini bug farm into the house to trust overnight drying!

Biddy Why are you getting yelled at?

Hairspray sounds like you have a lot ticked off the to-do list already.
How old is DSD?

Heavy I'm sure me and Biddy can make room for you on the zombie bench if you bring some of your delicious sounding picnic with you?
I don't have dc but I'm a summer birthday and although academically I always excelled in school, socially I was very young and never quite on the same page as my classmates (although other summer borns seemed to be so it's definitely something to be considered on an individual basis).

My day is rubbish so far. Not only am I tired but I managed to muddle up a meeting date so had to chair a meeting first thing (which I thought was tomorrow) and I have another meeting elsewhere at 2:30. The only positive is that I've made it so I'm going to finish as soon as my meeting is done so I can go straight home and enjoy the darkness and the cold! Xmas Smile

HairsprayBabe · 19/09/2018 14:32

She is 6, will be 7 in March she is such a lovely child we get on really well Xmas Smile

Attached my s/s minus names, so still a fair bit to be getting in the next few weeks, my amazon basket has about £200 in it at the mo!

BiddyPop · 19/09/2018 14:43

Absolutely can budge up for that picnic Heavy!

Meeting this morning involved a partner of one of the big legal firms who thought we had done everything wrong with something - but was reassured that we are working to not have that happen. So no yelling after all , Yay!!

now I have a few minutes to tidy my office before my coach comes tomorrow (it's a disgrace and I've lost a bunch of docs yesterday) but also leave early for DD as school have cancelled after school sports (mandatory) due to weather, so I need to get her at 4 not 6. And DH is still waiting in the airport to board his flight - but over an hour delayed and nothing happening.....

BiddyPop · 19/09/2018 14:51

That looks very organized Hairspray, I'm impressed!!

FurForksSake · 19/09/2018 18:13

I appear to be doing anti freezer decluttering

Countdown to Christmas: the Strictly Come Dancing official countdown has begun edition! Thread 6.
NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2018 18:40

We do that, Fur! Our two freezers are rammed right now. I keep saying we need to do an audit and eat through stuff, but it just doesn't happen! 🙈

I didn't get job one, but apparently they were really impressed with me. My friend is trying to get me another job there; there's one in her team. So we shall see!

Evening all Xmas Grin
What a day l have had Hmm up the parents very early to get Mum out of bed and showered and dressed , eaten her breakfast had her tablets (all 14 of them) Hmm ready to take her for her Hairdressers appt at 10 ! PHEW!
Dh & I then cleaned right through, changed the beds , cooked them lunch (new pots, sugar snap peas , yellow haddock & Parsley sauce what DH had last night) and made their tea, Ham sarnies, crisps , pork pies and chutney for them to eat later. Did 2 loads of washing and got them all dry today unbelievably!! All in the airing cupboard now.
Anyway DH & I went home for lunch, did a bit of shopping and came home, my 2 DDS were going up to visit them this afternoon, so l said l would go up with them because l could finish off the washing and put it away and mum wanted a magazine and l bought her some figs from Aldi which she loves. When we went up I was taking the washing in when l could hear the downstairs toilet flushing & filling non stop. When l went in l could see something had happened to the cistern and it was starting to flood the loo Shock. Anyway we managed to turn off the water and find a plumber to come asap who sorted it out for them very quickly, a broken valve. I was so relieved that we had been there the split moment it happened . What on earth are the odds of that? I shudder to imagine the terrible mess it would have caused because Mum nor Dad would have realised it had happened for hours. They wouldn't have realised until the neighbours told them .I am thanking my lucky stars Star.
Hope all had a good day am tired now, also not sleeping very well still [hmmm]
Crazy l had a nasty dream too seems there must be something going on around here Grin
Have a great evening all Xmas Grin

The DC went to Adventure, I went to a Meet the Teacher session with DD's teacher, poor DD will find the SATs booster sessions a hard slog, an extra 50 minutes at school every day, had sausage pasta bake with garlic pizza bread for supper, picked DS2 up, he'll go to bed at 8. 😋😴

FurForksSake · 19/09/2018 19:48

Mrs - what an absolute stroke of luck you were there, it sounds like an exhausting day though. Hope you have your feet up and a cuppa xxx

PhilomenaButterfly · 19/09/2018 19:49

DD will go to bed at 9.20. 😴

WreckTangled · 19/09/2018 19:51

Mrs so glad you were there! Pleased it's all sorted now that could have been a disaster for your poor parents

NoWordForFluffy · 19/09/2018 19:51

Such a wonderful coincidence that you were there, Mrs. Phew!

Redgreencoverplant · 19/09/2018 19:57

Thank heavens you were there Mrs!

My new job doesn't involve much sitting which is good but my legs are really feeling it tonight. So have snuggled up in bed with a Bill Bryson :)

PhilomenaButterfly · 19/09/2018 21:00

That's so lucky you were there Mrs! 😆
