I am irritable and cranky Mrs! I don't need lack of sleep as an excuse! I actually woke up at 2.30, had a bit of a doze then came on here. I've apparently had enough sleep, I fall asleep around 9 if I can get to bed early enough.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2018 07:48

Morning!

The DC woke just before 7, which is becoming pretty standard these days.

I need to go to the allotment today really, which is disappointing! But the weeding won't do itself. Sigh.

We went out for dinner last night from my friend's 30th so DS didn't go to bed until 10:15. He was still up at 05:40 😭 DH is on his way to get a McDonalds breakfast.

WreckTangled · 16/09/2018 07:59

I can't give blood because I'm diabetic. So annoying.

Dc have a party to go to today.

Humph I want McDonald's breakfast! Our nearest is 13 miles away though so not going to get one...

Mrsmadevans · 16/09/2018 08:23

Good Morning all Smile
PSB you never seem irritable and cranky on here m'dear Flowers
Am off up to the parents this morning , DD2 is coming with me to help and DD1 & DH are having a day out together at car boots .
DD2 wants to buy a new iphone 8+ Hmm am not impressed tbh they are a lot of money but it is her money so she must do what she wants. Apparently they are a necessity don't you know Hmm, she has however waited till the iphone 8+ has come down to ....wait for it £699 on John Lewis and is taking up their insurance for £100 for two years , 'with no excess Mum!' Hey ho so that is nearly £800 Shock Give me strength Hmm. l suppose it could be worse I (we) did our sums and this seems the far cheaper way to buy the phone than paying monthly.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday and the cold sufferers are much better! Xmas Grin

Mrsmadevans · 16/09/2018 08:25

whispers l am going to have a Mcdonalds later with DD2 hehe Xmas Grin
while the cat is away the mouse will eat Mcdonalds Xmas Grin

CrazyBaubles · 16/09/2018 09:14

Heavy I hope you and your family are feeling better soon Thanks

PSB I'm not sure how you're functioning after waking up so early. I was awake at 6:30 today (habit now due to work) and refused to let myself come around properly until 7 then just led in bed MNing until 7:45.
I'm still in bed now but I've had a cuppa, am watching the Affair and crocheting while DH and the dogs snore around me.

Ooh McDonalds breakfast would be lovely. Sausages, pancakes & syrup. RedGreen you're a bad influence Xmas Grin

MrsMad you and my DH May cross paths today - he is doing a car boot as a last ditch attempt to get rid of some stuff.
£800 for a phone though! I've driven cars worth less than that (in my youth)!

I have big plans for today - visit my mum, cook a roast and more crochet. I'm making soft building blocks as a present for my nieces first birthday.

I forgot to say on here, on Friday I noticed Tesco had a small Christmas display starting - I saw a very unimpressed worker unloading boxes of shortbread while I was having a peek Xmas Grin

ConstantlyCooking · 16/09/2018 09:14

I have been full of cold all week, but had a lovely, long sleep Friday night,so feel a bit brighter. I took DD for a pre-uni Costco shop yesterday (giant Nutella is essential apparentlySmile) and they have a couple of aisles dedicated to Christmas including wrapping paper, trees, toys and Christmas villages. They only had a few random Halloween things left.
We also found a nice set of Tupperware for her in Tesco.
She has created a packing list on excel divided into categories (I have detailed holiday lists and felt v proud of her!)
Last meal at home for DS before he goes on holiday with his girlfriend arriving home late the night before he heads off for his final year. So I made his favourite supper (shepherds pie) and fish pie for DH (who doesn't eat meat) and rhubarb crumble for all of us.

Heavystream · 16/09/2018 09:28

Morning everyone!. I’m feeling much better today, been and sorted out all the veg and fed the chickens. I’ve begun my weekly Sunday clean but am double cleaning to make sure all the germs are gone. I’ve got all the windows and doors open so the house is freezing!. The boys are cuddled up under heaps of blankets. Ewan (DH) has gone to get some shopping, we live in a small village so it’s quite a drive away, he’ll be home by 10. I think we’re going to watch another Harry Potter today, the kids seem to love them, not sure when we’ll have to stop though, the third one seems a bit too dark for John and Lorcan.
We started a thread about the name Alan not long ago and have got some very positive feedback so we think a baby Alan James will be joining the thread in February!.

You all seem to be having such lovely Sunday’s, not including the lack of sleep.
Colds seem to be going around a lot on this thread as well so I hope you’re all feeling a little bit better this morning!.

FurForksSake · 16/09/2018 09:36

Morning all! Off to see my parents today, DH went to Bangalore yesterday for a week so me and the boys are adjusting. I always struggle to get to sleep for the first few nights.

Haven't caught up, I can't give blood as they don't want my blood type, DH can't any more as he has a heart condition. Thank you to all that do, you do a great thing! I am on the DKMS bone marrow register, I'd love to get the call.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2018 10:34

I'm on the DKMS list for stem cells, I think. I'm too old for bone marrow apparently!

I've just cleared a load of old kids' clothes out and packed up a parcel to send to a friend (who I met on here!) for her two boys.

It's still raining here, so I've not gone to the allotment yet. I'll go after lunch now as it's meant to dry up then.

We have the class bear (DS) this weekend and the poor sod hasn't gone anywhere yet, so it's to Dobbies for cake straight after lunch! I may take him to the allotment as well, as long as it's not raining. Don't want him to get soggy!

Right, I need to make some muffins for after-school snacks now. The excitement!

@FireflyGirl, is it your DH's birthday today, if so, tomorrow is 99!

The countdown always goes wrong somewhere, I think. Possibly when we start new threads! 😂 Xmas Grin

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 16/09/2018 11:26

I thought it was 100 today. That's what loads of fb posts are saying Grin

FireflyGirl · 16/09/2018 12:00

Yep, well remembered Fluffy Grin So it's 99 days, or 100 sleeps! Woohoo.

We babysat 11 month old DNephew last night, and to settle him down I was singing Christmas carols, so I'm feeling festive already Grin

I haven't been able to keep up with you all the last week or so, need to read back through and catch up! Might take me a while Grin

FireflyGirl · 16/09/2018 14:22

Yeah, that took a while!

Am fully up to speed now.

Congratulations to Hairspray and Heavy!

I am also vaguely following the Grand Plan, but I am having issues with my energy levels. I'm having more tests next month, but in the meantime I find it hard to do anything other than feed us all and collapse into bed after work. Weekends are about spending time with DS. I figure even a token effort is better than nothing, though!

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2018 16:12

I hope you get things sorted, Firefly. Have they tested for anaemia, Vit D levels and thyroid? They're common ones. Plus glandular fever? I was rough with that one!

I did another bout of weeding to save the beetroot being strangled. Didn't get the bulbs in the ground as I needed a wee and had to get home!

Our potatoes are coming on great guns - some are flowering which means there's potatoes forming underground - and we picked some lettuce for my sandwiches this week. First thing we've harvested from our plot!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 16/09/2018 19:06

Yeah, Fluffy, they tested for anaemia and thyroid. Thyroid is normal. Iron and B12 are low, but I've been on supplements since January and haven't seen any improvement.

Iron has been low since EMCS with DS, but there's no reason for my B12 to be low, so the next tests are for coeliac.

Otherwise the GP suggested chronic fatigue, but they expect pain symptoms with that and I haven't really had any (except my shoulders, but that comes and goes).

Not sure about glandular fever - an ex of mine had it when we were in our early 20s, but I didn't catch it so I've always assumed I was immune.

Also - not so stealthy boast - look at my dairy free Yorkshire puddings!! Grin Grin

WreckTangled · 16/09/2018 19:08

Not vitamin d? Everyone should take a high vitamin d supplement especially women.

Yorkies look amazing! I always fail but do make the best roast potatoes..

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2018 19:23

I don't take vit D! I'd definitely want that testing, Firefly. It won't hurt you to take some in the meantime either.

Ace roasties and yorkies there! 😋😋

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2018 19:24

Oh, b12 deficiency is linked to vit D too. So that may be your reason.

WreckTangled · 16/09/2018 19:25

You should fluffy tut tut especially coming into winter

NoWordForFluffy · 16/09/2018 19:51

firefly & wreck delicious looking food!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/09/2018 22:59

My DS loves Yorkshire Puddings - they are so simple but a nightmare at the same time!

Last year I made and froze a batch for Christmas Day which worked well (and beats the pants of Aunt Bessies)

On a good day , they nearly climb out of the tin Xmas Grin
I made a batch today , (regular milk for DS)

How d'you do Dairy Free? DD and I use soya milk but its way too sweet for savoury foods.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/09/2018 06:01

Whoop. Double figures!

Morning. It's Monday. Booooooo! Nothing else much to say really. 😂
