I'm feeling sorry for myself I guess.

I'll get something from my Mum and husband and that's it.

Birthdays are the same.

OP posts:
Finfintytint · 26/08/2018 16:23

My husband, my mother and sometimes my son if he has any money!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/08/2018 16:24

Honestly we're cutting right back again so partner, daughter and Mum. Not sisters, cousins, friends, neighbours.

I buy myself a little something (usually make up from Chanel, redeemed on Boots Ad Card) and we get a home present - DD is angling for a Google Home Mini.

NiceUnusualDifferent · 26/08/2018 16:25

Nothing, not from my mum or DP.
The dcs will make me something which i’ll love and that will be my only gift. Same as my birthday although my mum does get me a card

ScreamingValenta · 26/08/2018 16:26

Parents, sister, husband, MIL. Very happy with that. We all know each other well enough to buy things we really like, so no one ends up with a pile of unwanted stuff.

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 26/08/2018 16:28

Just dp, my pils, but it’s usually just a token gift from them and my mum. The less people that buy for me, the less I have to buy for. My two siblings and I don’t buy for each other as we buy for each other’s kids instead. Don’t exchange presents with friends either for Xmas or birthdays as we made that agreement years ago.

I think that’s quite normal as an adult though isn’t it? I don’t like being overwhelmed by stuff and the more people have to buy for the more generic the presents get.

AdoraBell · 26/08/2018 16:29
  1. DH and DC. He sorts presents for his family and I’m NC with my family.
Aragog · 26/08/2018 16:31

Dh, teenage Dd, my parents, my brother, my sister, PILs, and usually a token gift from my grandparents. Dh gets gifts from the same people.

WipsGlitter · 26/08/2018 16:32

DH
Something from DH family secret Santa group
A small thing from my sister
Something shite in the work secret Santa
Sometime me and a friend exchange gifts but she lives in the US so we don't always get round to it

3girlmama · 26/08/2018 16:34

Husband, mum, in laws, step daughter and my daughters (age 10&8...and I'm guessing the needy one this year too ...she 15 weeks)

whiskeysourpuss · 26/08/2018 16:35

I'll get gifts from my mum, the DC, my best friend & my godchildren - these are also the only people I'll be buying gifts for.

Redgreencoverplant · 26/08/2018 16:43

Lots of people but that's because both DH and I come from blended families so twice the standard number of parents, grandparents, siblings etc. I would love to say children only but DS is the only child so far as DH and I are both the eldest of our generation.

Trialsmum · 26/08/2018 16:45

My parents, parents in law, DH and DS (although he’s 9 so we pay for it obviously). That’s plenty for an adult.

Nanasueathome · 26/08/2018 16:48
  1. Elder son and Dail
  2. Daughter
  3. Younger son
  4. My sister
  5. Daughters partner (if he remembers)

I usually buy myself something too
Oh, and something from the dog

Nanasueathome · 26/08/2018 16:48

Dail should read as Dil

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 26/08/2018 16:49

Nobody. We only buy gifts for children.

TheWoollybacksWife · 26/08/2018 16:51

DH buys me a present and the DC (2 adults, one tween) do a stocking for me and also one for DH. I get a present from MIL and my DM usually gives me money to buy something for myself.

Thesearepearls · 26/08/2018 16:54

None - I ask them not to

What I ask from my DC (who are now 18 and 20) so adults, is not that they buy me something. I don't want them to buy me anything. What could they buy me that I don't already have or don't need? They know I love books but they can't buy me books because even though they know me very well they can't second guess what I have already read

I like spending time with them - that's my favourite thing. So for every Christmas and Birthday - my present is a weekend away with them doing something nice. Making memories. Sometimes they insist on buying me a mug or something for me to unwrap. I quite like the mugs on the whole and for sure it makes me smile every time I make a cup of tea in them.

Frosty6611 · 26/08/2018 16:55

I get gifts from my mum and dad, my sister and her partner, and also my DP. I used to get gifts from grandparents and aunties etc but we have a cut off point in our family when we get to the age of 25.

OhHolyFuck · 26/08/2018 16:57

Works secret santa will be it
Kids are too small to do it alone and as a lp no-one will take them, obviously no dp and NC with family

BasicUsername · 26/08/2018 17:03

I receive (and reciprocate) gifts with my husband, parents, grandparents, sister and two friends.

Tbh though, I'd rather drop the gifts with friends, but when I broached it with them last year, they both said not to bother getting them something, but they were still buying me a gift. So I continue to buy gifts for them.

Justabadwife · 27/08/2018 07:40

DP
Dd
Mum and dad
My nana and grandad
MIL and FIL
DHs gran
DHs aunty and uncle
DHs cousins and family

But they are the people (along with their kids) that we buy for as well.

speakout · 27/08/2018 07:44

Why is it important?

anotherangel2 · 27/08/2018 07:47

DH
Token gift from toddler
PIL
BIL/SIL
Sis/BIL
Parents

Johnnyfinland · 27/08/2018 07:48

Parents and boyfriend if I have one at the time, and those are the only people I’d buy for. Not close with the rest of the family and have never bought for friends, neither am I bothered about receiving. I really couldn’t give a stuff about Christmas though

Tisfortired · 27/08/2018 07:48

Myself, my mum and sisters do secret Santa with a £25 budget, so I will get something from one of them, we also do secret Santa within my friendship group so one from them too.

Otherwise DP, my dad, GP's, And in laws.
