I'm feeling sorry for myself I guess.

I'll get something from my Mum and husband and that's it.

Birthdays are the same.

Mum
DH
Siblings
Dcs

am very lucky. I buy for them too

CocoLoco87 · 27/08/2018 09:38

Just one from DH and that's if we give a gift. Some years we just buy something for the house. Now I've got young DC it's more about them and teaching them the reasons we celebrate Christmas.

rainingcatsanddog · 27/08/2018 09:54

I'm a lone parent and NC with my parents.

I only get gifts from my kids now that they are secondary school aged. Before that I bought for myself.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 27/08/2018 12:38

dp, dp's mum and sister and one of my sisters. I buy for all my brothers and sisters and their kids plus the above people and my Ds but i'm not bothered if i get not nothing back, i get embarrassed unwrapping things in front of other people and trying to work out how i should respond so i don't like receiving gifts even half as much as i like giving them

RoseMartha · 27/08/2018 21:54

Not many.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 28/08/2018 10:29

I have to buy loads. I wish we had a smaller list tho. I have to by:

DS and her DH
My other DS (DC only as she has 5)
My DM and DF
My PIL
My DGP
DH GP

My DC
My DH
My DA
My DF and her DC x2

I’ve cut a few out now like cousins and uncles expect DA as she’s on her own no children.

Except*

moonlight1705 · 28/08/2018 10:37

My DH
DParents
DParents IL
DSis 1
DSis 2
BIL & SIL

Uni friends x 3 (getting towards the card only stage)
Other friends x 4

Get bought a ton of drinks around my birthday by my hobby friends if that counts.

CookPassBabtridge · 28/08/2018 10:38

I get from my mum, partner and maybe my brother. It's more than enough for me!

It's great as I only buy for them too and a few children. Stress free.

CookPassBabtridge · 28/08/2018 10:40

Who are you expecting to get presents from OP? Mum and partner is pretty standard. Who do you buy for?

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 28/08/2018 10:41

@CookPassBabtridge your list sounds perfect. I have Envy

tinstar · 28/08/2018 10:41

Well I no longer have my mum and dad so it's just DH and dcs

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 28/08/2018 10:45

My daughter and that is it

FrolickingForklift · 28/08/2018 10:47

I get from my partner. I buy for various nieces and nephews

speakout · 28/08/2018 10:56

I buy my own sometimes.

OH and I are not into "stuff" but I will sometimes buy things that I would like, wrap and label them and stick them under the tree.

Last year "Santa" bought me a nice essential oil collection, a few crystals and a Tarot deck.

I acted surprised.

speakout · 28/08/2018 10:58

In fact OH and I will sometimes buy our own gifts then swap for wrapping.
He is a geek and I don't have a clue about that stuff.
Neither does he know much about my interests.

That way we get exactly what we want.

TittyGolightly · 28/08/2018 11:00

Don’t give a stuff about xmas either. Don’t buy for anyone but a few token gifts for DD and don’t receive anything. Bliss.

CookPassBabtridge · 28/08/2018 11:20

ivalue Could you stop buying for both sets of grandparents, sisters and friend and kids? They might be relieved to not buy either! I've found it goes down well as it's a mutual not buying!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 28/08/2018 11:39

@CookPassBabtridge I think that’s a good idea will talk to DF. However will have to buy for one set of DGP as they buy our DC lots and really enjoy it. May cut the other GP as I think they are more likely to agree. Wish me luck 😂

80sMum · 28/08/2018 11:43

Thankfully, everybody respects my wishes and nobody buys me any gifts for birthdays or Christmas!

I simply don't want anything - and I absolutely don't want anyone to waste their money buying me something I don't want!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 28/08/2018 11:45

And I don’t think my DS with the 5 Dc will agree, although I’d love cut them as they cost me the most.

MirandaWest · 28/08/2018 11:46

Mum and dad, sister, husband, children

OneToThree · 28/08/2018 12:02

Mum and dad (cash)
Mother in law
Kids

LumpSatAloneInABoggyMarsh · 29/08/2018 07:59

I'm a single parent so I will take DC to the shop and let him pick something to give me. This year he is 9 so he may even be ok to do it mostly by himself so I don't see what it is.

Other then that I'd get something from my mum but she passed away in March so now it will just be my DS gift.

I have 4 siblings but we just buy for the kids (and I buy for my adult niece and nephew because it feels wrong giving to the younger one and not them) I also buy for my brother who has no SO or DC. He will be in the same boat this year as my mum always brought for him too.

She was a single parent and I think she understood that Christmas felt a little sad when no one was there to buy for you.

MrsDrSpencerReid · 29/08/2018 08:08

DH
Mum & Dad
Brother
Grandparents (1 set)

We don’t exchange gifts with DH’s family anymore as there’s WAY too many of them, and they’re still expanding! We do try and have a catch up over the holidays for all the cousins to play though Smile
