My last day in the toy shop today! Back to real work on Monday. Humph.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2018 08:47

It is exciting, December!

I'm in the waiting room at the surgery. Let's see what they say!

BiddyPop · 31/08/2018 09:13

Good luck with the dr Fluffy, I hope they sort he shoulder for you.

Wreck you were working in a toy shop? I thought it was furnishings! Lucky you - I hope you got a good heads up on this years trends, and some staff discount on things to put away before you finish 🤶

MrsMad and 70s please stop talking about being old - I prefer to think about my shoe size not my age (valiantly ignoring the grey streaks getting bigger). Although I might have to do my candy cane stripes again for Christmas hair...

And welcome to all the newbies too!

A lovely sunny morning here, but a distinct chill of autumn in the air. Desk will be busy but do-able. I may be visiting new baby tonight 🍼 DD is doing a different sailing competition this weekend - Scouts so parents don’t need to go YAY!! I love her dearly, but a peaceful day would be great! But at least school is going well and she seems to be settling in and making friends! The relief!!

Heavystream · 31/08/2018 09:41

Morning all, we’re taking the kids to a castle today and then when we get back will order some Christmas presents. We don’t have long now before Arthur goes to school and I’m dreading it!. I just want my baby at home with me, but I know he’ll have s great time. Can I ask you all what time you get up on a school morning, I have no idea how much time I’m going to need to get them all ready and out.

Mrsmadevans · 31/08/2018 09:58

Morning all Xmas Smile
Heavy, I think l used to get us all up about 7 , we would have bathed the night before though and only needed a lick and a promise and our hair and teeth done , breakfast and get dressed. DC school just around the corner so it took no time to travel to school. Flowers it is daunting this time when they go to school bless you .
Fluffy hope you are sorted today m'dear Flowers
Biddy l am 57 and stopped counting Xmas Grin l really don't mind getting old tbh Xmas Grin . l feel about 16 in my head Xmas Grin

Now is December2018 someone we know previously as a different name? I have a feeling ........

BiddyPop · 31/08/2018 10:03

We're back to the school routine here. Up at 7, wake DD at 7.30 if she hasn't woken herself, and out the door no later than 8.20. Primary school started at 8.30, but very local so only a few minutes needed either walking or by car (and walking can be faster!!). Secondary is slightly further away, starts at 8.40 but DD needs time to get her books sorted at her locker etc so I think we may push things back a little once we get used to the early starts again - and leave by 8am.

Although, I say "we" - DH does the morning school run stuff, and I head for the train, ideally at 7.30 but before 8, and I do the evening collection etc and he can stay later.

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/08/2018 10:06

I get up at 5.25 Heavy, I get DS2 up at 6.15 and DD at 6.30. It works for us as none of us like being rushed and we don't have a car, and somehow using the bus seems lazy for a 20 minute walk. We juggle getting up times though, depending on how long DD takes to get dressed, how long they take to eat breakfast etc. DD will have to get up earlier once she starts SATs boosters though, she'll need to leave half an hour before us. That'll be fun. She's a night owl. Hmm

BiddyPop · 31/08/2018 10:24

We leave bags packed the night before, lunches made in the fridge (except DD's who used to need hot lunches, so we'd be cooking pasta or baking something at 7.30 - new school has a canteen so no more need for that YAY!!), clothes laid out to put on in the morning etc.

So mornings would be DH and I getting up, bathroom, and dressed. Call DD, for her to do bathroom and get dressed. Organise breakfast, and I'd drink my smoothie while DD was getting dressed, then brush and plait her hair before I left, and DH would organize making sure she finished eating and grabbed all bags/phones/keys etc needed on the way out.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2018 10:26

DH gets up just before 6.30 so he sees me before I leave for work. The kids get up at some point after 6.15, but no later than 7.15 to leave at 8.15. School is a 20-25 minute walk at little leg pace and starts at 8.50.

I've been to see the nurse. I have a prescription for amitriptyline for night pain relief and a referral to the joint clinic where I'm going on 5 Oct. Would've been 28 Sept but I'm in Berlin that day! The clinic will assess and decide what I need next, whether a scan, physio, injection or whatever!

WreckTangled · 31/08/2018 10:29

We're not back to school until Tuesday but it'll be 6:30 wake up for me then 7 for dc and out the door at 8:10

Seafoodeatit · 31/08/2018 10:35

Fluffy I hope the new painkillers are helpful, hopefully you'll be able to get to sleep normally now.

We all get up around 7 regardless of the day unless it's a rare weekend when the toddler and baby lie in till 8. DS is dressed by 7:30/7:40 - shoes always take the longest!

DH drops him off at breakfast club on his way to work 3 days a week, on the morning he has judo he has breakfast at half 7 at home as it starts at 8! DH does one late start a week so he has breakfast at half 7 but doesn't go off till 8:40 as it's only a 8 minute or so drive. He has school dinners so no packed lunch unless it's a school trip day.

TheWoollybacksWife · 31/08/2018 11:03

Fluffy amytriptyline is da bomb for shoulder pain Grin my children would cringe themselves inside out if they read that My advice would be to make sure you take it early enough or you may struggle to wake early - I used to take it an hour or so before my usual bedtime.

DS starts seniors on Monday. He has to be on the train by just after 7:30 😱 We are off to a new pupils afternoon today - he has to go in uniform and I'm stressing about what I should wear 😂

I'm picking up the odd bits and bobs here and there now. It all feels a bit surreal as DM is very poorly and I'm trying to visit as often as I can.

FurForksSake · 31/08/2018 11:33

Gabe is back on Monday (I hope, haven't heard a peep from pre-school) and Wilf Tuesday. I can't decide on our routine yet, DH leaves by 6 and then I get up as late as possible and drive to school and then I go to the gym. But I think I might walk them to school, come home and do some work and then go to the gym in the evening. I prefer morning for the gym but G only does mornings so I can't walk and then gym and then get back without rushing.

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2018 13:07

We have two inset this week coming, hence going back a bit later.

That's good to know, Woolly. The nurse I saw was lovely and asked about my sleep. Maybe I look knackered! 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2018 13:08

I hope your DS enjoys the new pupils' day.

Seafoodeatit · 31/08/2018 13:12

Not back till Wednesday here! DD is starting nursery which feels like a scary big step to me, it's only 1 morning a week but makes her seem too grown up! DS only did childminders so nursery is a new thing alltogether.

Wooly Good luck for the afternoon today! wear something something nice but comfortable, I always find it feels a lot hotter than it is at these events due to being nervous. I'm sorry to hear about your mum. Flowers

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/08/2018 16:43

Had chicken korma for supper. 😋🍛

Mrsmadevans · 31/08/2018 17:05

PSB you have nice meals l am envious Xmas Grin

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/08/2018 17:11

DS2 will go to bed at 6. 😴

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/08/2018 19:01

Autumn starts tomorrow according to the ITV news.

Fluffy have they given you heavy duty pain killers ? MRI referral? Maybe steroid injection?

I keep telling DD what a Pain In The Arse I will be (more so that usual) when I'm ancient , I;m going to re-create life with a toddler (but I'll be bigger and less endearing than DD was as a toddler) , wait till she's got me in the car then demand to go to the loo, demand to go to my shops , try things on, refuse them, go back to the first shop. Demand tea+cakes (then the loo again) and throw a wobbly in her shops.
Then whine that I have nothing to wear (even though I could buy online)

DS will drown me in a bucket and made it look like an accident

I have been to the gym (smug) and now cooking Quorn sausages 'n'chips .

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2018 19:05

The joint clinic will decide what the next step is, 70. But I do have better painkillers for night time. Fingers crossed they work!

I'd think I may go straight to injection after physio failed last time I had it 7 years' ago.

I can't wait to annoy our two like that, 70. Sweet revenge! 😂

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/08/2018 22:04

DD will go to bed at 10.10.

Hope those painkillers work tonight Fluffy. Flowers

NoWordForFluffy · 31/08/2018 22:23

I took one about 40 minutes' ago and may crash out shortly! My shoulder seems better though, so here's hoping!

ConstantlyCooking · 31/08/2018 22:26

I took DD to IKEA for her pre- university shop. She is feeling much happier.
I am trying to work out how to do Advent for her. I am deciding between sending a box or mini calendar to count the December days before she comes back or doing a little advent box for Dec 1st. Hmmm
