We forgot to put a bin out and dh just ran out to do it only to find the bin man round the back getting it for us

Our bin man does that too wreck :)

They're so nice. I always hear stories of bin men refusing to take bins if the lid doesn't close etc but ours are so helpful.

Morning all!
A busy day yesterday - another trip to stationary shop (and greeted by another list for a weekend trip when I got home by DD!), but meant I bought various birthday and other cards as well. Emptied the suitcases - and as new DN arrived late yesterday, I fully expect DM and maybe DF to stay tonight! Sewed together the hat for new DN (and realized it will last about a week as it’s small - I may need to do another before I see the happy parents). DH and I watched an old QI on Netflix before bed and it was a very funny one (one where you wonder what was in the water in the green room beforehand! poor Sandi Toksvig was struggling to maintain control😂).

Today will be busy at work, a row with dD who will want to go to Scouts regardless of how tired she is (I had to wake her this morning), potentially guests overnight, and definitely DH being out late (running a public consultation he had forgotten about). And I managed to get back to commuting knitting on Project Christmas Scarves! So I am having 10 minutes peace “reading my emails” in a coffee shop en route to the office...

You get a fine here if your lid doesn't shut, they also won't take it if it's not on the pavement despite the driveway being a car's length.

Biddy Sounds like a very busy day, I'd love to see your christmas scarves in the making if you're happy to share :)

Had a small amount of ham and tomato omelette in the Sainsbury's café, went to South Kensington to draw money out, I should get my new card tomorrow, locked myself out so sitting in the park until it's time to meet our family coach in the Sainsbury's café at 12.30. 😋🍅

Morning all, Arthur and Lorcan have some friends over today so we’re going to pick some berries and make a pie. We started an allotment when we first moved in and that’s going well, I’m hoping we’ll be able to use a lot of homegrown veg throughout the autumn and winter months.

As much as I’m sad about Arthur going to school I’m excited for the school run, it was always my favourite thing about school when I was little, especially in autumn. I loved the rain and running through leaves, and my mum always had some hot chocolate and the fire on for me when I got home so am hoping to do that for Arthur.

I’m loving the autumn weather we’re getting lately though, we have lovely cosy nights in.

DD's is the last birthday, that's pretty much sorted apart from a FNAF plushy she's ordering herself, after that's been ordered I can start thinking about Christmas.

OK, the worst of todays' list for home is sorted, and I've made progress on the work list. (And only half embarrassed myself by sending the Cubs notice to last year's list, rather than this year's list - which we set up in January..... )

I like the sound of the nice binmen. Ours come around at 5am, and won't do anything except lift and throw back (usually managing to avoid blocking the road - luckily we're up early to move ours).

Now that I'm home (for long lead deliveries), I ordered a Snitch necklace and a different HP bracelet that I saw on the bargains thread a few weeks back - for DD.

I'll try and post a photo of the scarves over the weekend. They're mostly very plain (K3,P3) ribbed, and most of the ones for ladies will be joined ends (Mobius style) - the interesting bit is variegated wools really.

Oh, and I asked in M&S yesterday about the food to order brochure. It's not out yet (not even in the back) but the girl there was helpful. Ordering opens roughly 6th October every year so might be a few weeks yet before the book comes out.

But she also said that, while they don't know yet if that particular store is closing on 26th or will be open, it is likely that they will be closed and then they'd start marking down cakes etc at about 11am on 24th. (I was talking about pre-ordering some bits but getting the cake on 24th for DD birthday - helpful lady was bemoaning the lack of cake ordering service here that you have in UK!). A definite fellow planner!! The other girl at the CS desk was looking at us like we each had 2 heads, talking about Christmas in August

Been shopio today , went into B & M and bought an awful game that l know my DGN wil love called POOPYHEAD , 8 YR OLD BOY typical fodder for them l think yuk! Oh and a dolly called Holly who cries if you take her dummy out lol 7.99 for the game and 5.99 for the dolly .

Yes! I have found my place! My husband is sick of me mentioning Christmas but the cooler weather has made me feel festive already! Last year hosted for 17 in our unfinished kitchen... involved getting a sofa delivered 2 days before, my husband making another table and going to bed at 4... was my sons first Christmas so we were up super early too. Hoping for a more relaxed one this year! Or at least a more organised one. Love Christmas 🎄
