I believe it's day 190

HOW did we get past the 200 mark so fast? And only 12 Days until Christmas in July starts, for anyone who celebrates that.

Morning! That's beautiful Mrs! I'm the only one awake, in bed drinking coffee. Brew

FireflyGirl · 26/07/2018 06:19

That's gorgeous, MrsM.

I'm the only one awake here as well. DS wet the bed for the second night in a row. I've changed it and him, and he's gone back over but I'm wide awake so I'm meal planning and doing an online shop.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 26/07/2018 06:53

Dry Nites are a godsend Firefly. Also, what worked with DS2 was loads of fluids during the day, a wee and no more fluids an hour before bed, then another wee just before bed.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2018 07:02

Ours were dry at night almost before during the day. But nights are hormonal and can't be 'trained' as such. Unless your child has the right levels of whatever hormone it is, you won't get a dry night!

I read a hack on here. Waterproof sheet, sheet, waterproof sheet, sheet, so if there is a wetting incident, just remove the top layers and the bed is ready underneath.

We never did that though, but we've had fewer than 10 wetting incidents across both children. We either use toddler mats or a waterproof sheet. Standard nappies though, as they're cheaper than Dry Nites etc.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2018 07:02

(Ours have free access to water all night too.)

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 26/07/2018 08:20

True, but I had advice from the school nurse, she said his bladder had to expand to be able to last a whole night, so loads to drink during the day. I understand that, because if I run out of water in hot weather, when I do get a drink I nearly wet myself.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 26/07/2018 08:25

Unfortunately, DS2 and DD had outgrown nappies by the time they were dry, also, DS2 would have wet them when he woke up because they were nappies. Hmm

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 26/07/2018 08:28

DS2 still doesn't have a drink the hour before bed, I take one in to him before he wakes up. DD now has a Superbladder, which can take a full sports bottle of water before sleep, then last until about 8am.

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2018 08:35

That makes sense. We struggle to get DS to drink enough during the day, so he needs what he gets overnight.

It is still a hormonal issue though, not a trainable one (though no drinks before bed makes sense if there is an issue).

BiddyPop · 26/07/2018 10:25

I remember the (rubber sheet, sheet, rubber sheet, sheet) layering for a while. I still do it occasionally if I think that DD is brewing a tummybug (as she'll often only wake in time to throw up all over the bed, or having already just thrown up all over the bed). It can make things a lot easier during the night if there are problems.

Hot and sticky day here today. But it looks like more rain later in the week.

That's true, Fluffy, I'm not suggesting it's trainable, just that DS2's bladder needed to expand before he could last all night. We even had his teacher reminding him every 5 minutes at school. He drinks like a fish when he's at home, as long as it's flavoured. Hmm I don't blame him, London water tastes horrible.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 26/07/2018 11:42

Making gammon hock in cider sauce with mustard mash for lunch. 😋

FireflyGirl · 26/07/2018 12:49

DS has been dry at night for about a year. He'll go months and then suddenly - accidents. He has water in bed, as well, but usually wakes if he needs to go in the night (which isn't often). He hasn't been sleeping well because of the weather, and I think he's sleeping more deeply than normal so not waking when he needs to go. Think we'll try taking him when we go to bed.

ILoveGroot · 26/07/2018 15:05

Picked this up at M and S, guess it will be similar to all the previous Christmas Good housekeeping mags, but still excited!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2018 15:40

If he's like my DS, Firefly, he'll refuse point blank to go at that point!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 26/07/2018 16:05

Dropped the kids off at Adventure. 😆

FireflyGirl · 26/07/2018 16:24

I'll let you know tomorrow, Fluffy Wink

We're just waiting for the storm - we've had a few spots of rain and can hear it rumbling in the distance...

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2018 16:37

We are waiting too. The wind feels like it's picking up / bringing a pressure change and we aren't that far from you, Firefly. Wonder who'll get it first?!

BiddyPop · 26/07/2018 16:43

I managed to get into M&S sale at lunch (I went in to acquire DH pjs before the summer shorts style ones sell out - they don't do those in dark colours anymore! Boo!). But I did manage to get both a boys and a girls set of 2 smocks for small babies (cover ups with sleeves for when learning to eat themselves/messy play etc) and a full outfit for a DNiece's birthday in the autumn. There are 2 new babies expected before Christmas so at least 1 set will get used. And all at significant discount.

But I've not got much work done today - I've been flootering around on t'internet looking at freezers and storage ideas to organize them, ideas for midterm breaks in CP and pricing ferries/checking driving routes, and having a mooch around Lakeland (all of which started from MN threads, and then thinking about cleaning). I've decided I'm going to drive to work tomorrow, as DH is away from early morning, to empty out under my desk and bring stuff home, and go to Ikea on the way home (opposite side of the city).

It's very very hot today - I think I'm just going to have bread and pate for dinner tonight (DH is out at a work thing) and do my sewing. Or maybe, if I really get up some energy, do some filing of paperwork - ugh but it really needs to be done. ...

Thunder, lightning and rain here!!

Not at home though. Boo!

FireflyGirl · 26/07/2018 17:32

We beat you to the rain, I think, Fluffy. Still constant rumbling, but the rain has stopped now. The living room has cooled down 0.1 degree and now all my windowsills are flooded! Hopefully more of that to come!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2018 17:41

We can see brighter weather heading our way, so it was short lived here too.

The air hasn't cleared hugely, I don't think. Let's hope there's more to come!

FireflyGirl · 26/07/2018 17:43

It was sunny here 15 mins ago, but just started chucking down again. I can hear my garden sighing with relief!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/07/2018 17:56

It's brilliant being in the garden when it's raining right now. The plants all seem so damn happy!

FireflyGirl · 26/07/2018 18:20

I love the smell in the garden when it rains after a dry spell!

Forgot I left the bathroom window open, I now have soggy loo roll Grin
