Tree lights have packed in.

faintlinesquints · 24/12/2017 16:31

I haven't retrieved any presents out from their numerous places, no idea if the piles for all dc match or not never mind the fact I haven't started wrapping a thing yet.

Bought dh a coffee machine, forgot to buy coffee pods.

GiGiraffe · 24/12/2017 16:31

In ordered my lovely SIL a makeup holder she requested, but Amazon had a brain fart and delivered me a 92 piece tool kit instead. They basically admitted they are wrong, happy to refund me and and I get to keep the toolkit, but no present for SIL!

Luckily I had bought her something else little so there is something to unwrap, but still bloody Amazon!!

WheelyCote · 24/12/2017 16:31

I forgot to get the christmas star wars jumpers for today for when we went to the movies.....not my idea of fun but my youngest Ds wanted it to be a christmas star wars family thing. He's dissapointed

Tigertoes · 24/12/2017 16:42

Pofirole may be best typo ever, OP. I am having that! (Unless there are actually things called pofiroles)?

JingsMahBucket · 24/12/2017 16:44

@Notsureaboutmuchanymore put the turkey in warm water and change it every hour whenever the water cools down. Rotate the turkey as well so all sides get warmed. When you've done about 5 – 6 hours of this, you should be able to take off the plastic and remove the giblets. Rinse out the cavity with warm water to start defrosting the inside as well. Your turkey will probably be defrosted by 9am tomorrow so you can throw it in the oven by around 10am.

MrsMotherHen · 24/12/2017 16:50

Just having a quick tidy round in what I laughingly call my "office" (well ..... the space where my computer gear lives anyway ...) and found the neighbours' christmas cards. They only live next door/across the road, but not managed to get them there as yet .....

DD has a Saturday job at Boots. Had a sleepover after work last night & this morning there were frantic messages from staff as she’d gone home with the perfume key!

Tedster77 · 24/12/2017 17:37

I’m not doing a lot this year so ok so far but when the kids were little I had nothing that would serve as stockings so had to cut a pair of flesh coloured tights in half and hang them over the fire like some kind of horrific prosthetic...

RatOnnaStick · 24/12/2017 17:50

Ds2 remarked to DH about 29 minutes ago that he really really hoped Santa would bring him a Big Big Box of wooden track. At which point DH mouthed to me that said Big Big Box is still in PIL shed hidden away from prying eyes Xmas Blush.

He's just off now on the hour round trip to fetch it...

sofability · 24/12/2017 18:25

My 8 yr old DD has made the mince pies with puff pastry and help of course, daddy says they are lovely and Father Christmas will love them because she's made them😬

halfwitpicker · 24/12/2017 18:27

recommends 86-100hr defrosting time confused

^

So you should have got it out on Thursday! Grin

LyannaStarktheWolfMaid · 24/12/2017 18:32

I’m pretty sure reindeers like pickled onions. We’re prwtty disastrous free except that OH only got 100g of smoked salmon so breakfast will be on the skimpy side.

jamaisjedors · 24/12/2017 18:36

Ordered several multi packs of AAA batteries for the DS laser tag guns.

Luckily opened them yesterday before travelling today, turns out they take AA.

Managed to get to a shop on the way here, turns out now DS miscalculated the number we need so we are short.

The DS were hoping for a mass laser tag game with all their cousins tomorrow.Shock

ourkidmolly · 24/12/2017 18:38

What's the issue with mince pies and puff? I didn't realise that this was such a no no? I like them. Marks and Spencer's sell them!

Weezol · 24/12/2017 18:39

I found my pile of stamped addressed Christmas cards under a magazine this afternoon. I'm going to post them tomorrow and blame Royal Mail for the delay.

christmaspudding1 · 24/12/2017 18:55

this is very very true oven element has gone

only found out at 5,grill still working,DM is cooking my turkey and will manage ok

im laughing about it,this oven Whirlpool has always been a piece of crap element gone before and fan 3yrs old and cost £400,will be sticking to cheap from now on

im surprisingly chilled about it and have even laughed, were only having a 4 that are eating, were out on Boxing day and already done the ham so not fretting

i didnt think this really happened to people but i take that backGrin

AcademicOwl · 24/12/2017 19:05

Panicking that we haven't actually got the right presents for the right children. But I'm sure it'll be ok really... Xmas Blush

AcademicOwl · 24/12/2017 19:06

Oh and forgot DH present. Except a giant bar of cadburys dairy milk, which somehow makes it worse...

SocksRock · 24/12/2017 19:07

Forgot mince pies. The Big Man is getting a KitKat...

SeaToSki · 24/12/2017 19:18

Oven disaster has been rectified, switching it off at the fuse box didnt help, but starting the self clean cycle again and then cancelling it after 20 mins did work. But DH just told me he forgot to pick up gum and a couple of other things for the DC stockings. Am trying to decide if I should send him out (not a straight forward decision as we had an ice storm yesterday and its not all melted yet)

Annwithnoe · 24/12/2017 19:23

I had the frozen turkey Defrost problem a couple of years ago. Defrosted it under a running cold tap (protect everything from splashes or risk food poisoning) pouring water on each side and then actually into the cavity. Put your hand into the cavity and break off any ice chunks inside. I had quite a bit, once they were gone it defrosted much quicker.
I personally wouldn’t risk warm water. Cold running water will get the job done.

MrsHathaway · 24/12/2017 19:27

This is how you do puff pastry mince pies.

Meanwhile, in the car with all our children, DH breezily said, "Oh, when you bought , did you buy or ?"

Of course they heard. "OMG ARE WE GETTING ?!"

Death stare doesn't come close. I called him a knobber, which is about as sweary as I get in front of small children.

Twat.
