Excellent presents for women that aren't...

Because @monkeymamma's thread for men is genius.

I'm looking for gifts for women (especially older women) that aren't:
Candles
Chocolate
anti-wrinkle cream
perfume
anything really twee and covered in flowers.

Particularly struggling with my mum this year, she is really into South American art and media. Budget 10-20 pounds.

tentative3,

Thanks! What a find. Flowers

singadream · 07/11/2017 23:36

Great list. I want to le creuset spatula myself now and I am not an older woman.

margaritasbythesea · 08/11/2017 06:06

caravangirl - Oooo what a little sweetie!

"I want to le creuset spatula myself now and I am not an older woman."

I hope to God that's a typo, and not a confession, sing. Grin Grin

Thanks for the morning laugh.

redfish18 · 08/11/2017 12:33

@IL0veCl0thes I can't find the watercolours sets on their website - do you have a link please? I love how you described them.

buckeejit · 08/11/2017 13:25

Good thread-so hard to find anything different & useful or wanted!

I think I'm at the stage that I don't want any waste so match my parents & pil. I'd love and have given sweet pea seeds-other seeds for annuals & good gardening stuff. I think a really good trowel or something for the garden would be a great gift but because it's not seasonal at Christmas such things don't happen often.

Local produce-nice jams & chutneys & other consumables
A birthday organiser to arrange cards in per month. Or actually a great gift would be to buy someone a year of cards they need, e.g. 3 daughter, 4 son, 5 grandchild birthday cards to organise them for the year ahead!
I love anything wood or natural so an olive wood chopping board (just bought myself one :)

I also love expensive jewellry 😁

I would appreciate anyone giving me a copy of their favourite book or favourite childhood book. Or any other good book I hadn't read

I have 6 cashmere jumpers upstairs waiting for me to make wristwarmers out of!

I'm 40 btw

singadream · 08/11/2017 15:06

@AutumnalLeaves38 Blush lol

AutumnalLeaves38 · 08/11/2017 16:27

BroomstickOfLove,
"Nice shopping bags that fold up to be tiny"

You might hint to "Santa" about one of these, then, and enjoy a fun design as well as practicality!

Ooh - thought of another:

Second hand v old Ladybird books on a topic you know they are interested in. They are so lovely - I'm going to get box frames for some of mine, I think.

expatinscotland · 08/11/2017 17:26

I'd like a pair of Doc Marten boots and I'm nearly 47. I love candles, too, and Soap and Glory smellies.

Sadik · 08/11/2017 17:28

Remus various of my family exchange piles 2nd hand books - all the fun of picking presents, and if they don't hit the spot they can just go back to the charity shop with no harm done.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 08/11/2017 17:29

Whatever they're interested in.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/11/2017 17:33

Excellent idea, Sadik.

Minniemagoo · 08/11/2017 17:39

Christmas decorations, I love really nice tree decorations/ ornaments. I think its an easy one for people to do, my colour/style is obvious, from the beginning of Dec theres a show of what I like. Theres always 1/2 get broken every year so a good way to replenish.

rabbitsandrhubarb · 08/11/2017 18:02

A personalised OS map centred on a favourite place or their home, with own photo and wording

www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/shop/custom-made-maps.html

(would work for men as well)

singadream · 08/11/2017 18:10

I would like to suggest the wallet minke recommended on the dads thread. Looks brilliant. I am actually going to bug myself one and one for all my friends.

singadream · 08/11/2017 18:10

Buy not bug

tentative3 · 08/11/2017 18:15

Christmas decorations is a nice idea. As is old ladybird books. We collect them anyway but old books are lovely.

AGrinFromASkeletalCat · 08/11/2017 18:21

Was talking to DM today about this and she has been very firm on consumables only, so vouchers for her hairdresser or fav beauty salon where she gets treat massages or fav chocolates from an independent shop, oil & vinegar(s), lush products, one year I gave her a mix of ground coffees in different flavours to try

With anything like this you can spend as little/much as you want

MrsHathaway · 08/11/2017 18:23

Ooh yes I love new Christmas decorations. That's a great shout.

singadream · 08/11/2017 18:27

Sorry so many typos. Will try again.

WALLET NINJA (not minke. Fat fingers slim phone)

Suggested on men’s thread but I think looks great for a woman.

Pansiesandredrosesandmarigolds · 08/11/2017 18:29

Books from here: www.persephonebooks.co.uk/
