I keep seeing/hearing people saying it’s November tomorrow my tree can go upShock

I don’t put mine up till the first weekend in December! When do you put yours up?

Deadoorpost
28th October! Your parents are keen aren’t they! Wink

DeadDoorpost · 02/11/2017 02:04

UserThen you have no idea 😂 I may have just outed myself though with that information.
They'd have it up all year round if they could. But they have so much stuff for Christmas that they have to start decorating early. It takes them several weeks to get it all done ready to enjoy December.

12th December .

Jaffalong · 02/11/2017 06:26

On my street people usually put their trees up around the same time so the last weekend before Christmas. Anything earlier than the beginning of December is a bit overkill.

15th December..down Jan 2nd.
Fill the house with spring flowers then

Babipotjam · 02/11/2017 06:41

First weekend in December. I have to do it early because as a child we shared our decks with the school that one of my parents worked at so we only ever put the decks up when school had finished.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 02/11/2017 06:54

Usually the first week in dec but I’m always a bit bored of it by Christmas so this year I’m aiming for the 15th. Wish me luck!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/11/2017 06:56

1st December. The 'sundries' usually go up in the week after. We are having our loft boarded next week, so everything will be coming down but I have promised dh that it will all go back away until December!

Christmas Eve.

Advent decorations go up for first Sunday in advent, 3rd Dec 2017 these include a wreath of aromatic 'Christmas tree' foliage and four candles ( light one on the first Sunday in advent, two on second ...), a set of carved carol singers following the star and other symbols of advent (literally 'waiting'.

Christmas eve, we put up and decorate the tree, which is up for the twelve days of Christmas.

Would be very sad to skip the season of advent

Unihorn · 02/11/2017 07:35

Children in Need weekend here, so roughly 18th-22nd of November. I love Christmas decorations.

ShoeJunkie · 02/11/2017 07:38

Usually first or second week in December (depending what we have on).

XJerseyGirlX · 02/11/2017 07:55

My birthday is the very beginning of December and my mum and dad started putting the tree up every year on my birthday before bed. I'm 33 now and still do it that day before bed.

why12345 · 02/11/2017 08:01

Mid November.

Intercom · 02/11/2017 08:24

Mid December here.

tootsieglitterballs · 02/11/2017 09:10

We usually get the tree on DH first day off in December (can fall anytime in the first 10 days usually) and put it up either that day or on his next day off.

This year, as we have no idea when DS2 is going to make his appearance, who knows when it will be!

tootsieglitterballs · 02/11/2017 09:12

Although just to add... I tend to start decorating the house (things like the fireplace) in mid November, as it’s more of a winter decoration than Christmas. This year I’ll start things that are ‘winter’ orientated rather than Christmas specific from after bonfire night. That’s early for me, but as we don’t know when DS2 will arrive, I want to get it done!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 02/11/2017 09:24

Tootsie. Ooh how lovely. Newborn baby snuggles. Deeply envious! I'd get the tree up EARLY if I were you, or you might not have the time/energy/enthusiasm & that would be a shame.

Mine usually goes up the first weekend in Dec, but I might put it up sooner this year. The village has its 'lights on' celebration the weekend before so I might put it up on the Friday night & finish on the Saturday before going to that.

grouchymamabear · 02/11/2017 09:39

Usually December 1st but like Tootsie as we are expecting DS to arrive around that date, we've made the decision to get all the decorations up early this year. Tree will be going up next week at 37 weeks pregnant just in case he makes an early appearance!

Intercom · 02/11/2017 11:35

I wouldn’t decorate before Advent begins, and prefer to leave it later. The novelty would wear out long before Christmas and the tree would have lost all its needles by mid-December!
