When do you put your Christmas tree up?

I keep seeing/hearing people saying it’s November tomorrow my tree can go upShock

I don’t put mine up till the first weekend in December! When do you put yours up?

Mines going up in the next week or so. We have a 7ft tree, a 4ft, a 5ft (that is already up because it’s black and fibre optic lit so we’ve used it for a holloween tree) and 3x 2ft trees.

So 6 in total.

Love Xmas - but love the ambience that dark nights and twinkling lights everywhere with scented candles has.

When I was at home it used to be the 1st Saturday of advent. But now I have my own family we do it on the 8th which is ds birthday and he loves it.

BiddyPop · 01/11/2017 07:12

Probably the weekend of 9th December

Yogagirl123 · 01/11/2017 07:14

1st of Dec is law in my home!

SockEatingMonster · 01/11/2017 07:16

Usually around 6 - 10 days before Christmas, depending on when the weekend falls. We leave everything up until 12th night though. DH & I both work long hours through December up until Christmas Eve then take 2 weeks off so, for us, Christmas is 24th Dec - early Jan. They will be going up earlier this year though as we're going away over New Year.

I do sneak into the children's bedrooms while they sleep on 30th November though, and put their little artificial trees up ready for when they wake on 1st December!

There is a new dog in my life a rescue who hadn’t quite got the hang of not chewing things. My plan is not to have a tree but decorate the mantelpiece instead. I’ll probably do second weekend in December

EdithWeston · 01/11/2017 07:29

Around the high teens of December (after a family birthday) and it stays up until Twelfth Night. So that's about 2.5-3 weeks total

DrDreReturns · 01/11/2017 07:35

First weekend in December

Theworldisfullofidiots · 01/11/2017 07:38

The weekend before Christmas.

YessicaHaircut · 01/11/2017 07:38

I work in a school so we usually put our tree up on the weekend at the end of term. This year 16/17 December. Mainly because we have to shift the furniture around to make space for it!

StewPots · 01/11/2017 07:38

We usually put ours up around the second weekend in December, but only because I get hassled by DC (nearly 16 & 4) about why we haven't got any decorations up yet when everyone does! It stays up until the end of New Years week.

Drives me mad. When they are both older, it's going up on the 21st and coming down Jan 2nd!

guiltynetter · 01/11/2017 07:51

first weekend of december. i can’t wait!

NoWordForFluffy · 01/11/2017 08:12

First weekend in December, unless that's as late as 6th, in which case I'd do it the Sunday of the weekend before.

I generally have it up until New Year's Day then take it down before I go back to work so it's all done and I don't have to worry about it.

We'll have 2 trees this year as I got one for the kids so they don't ruin my colour theme on the main tree! 😂😂 They're allowed tinsel and everything on theirs!

wendz86 · 01/11/2017 08:22

First weekend in December here !

SockEatingMonster · 01/11/2017 09:20

I like your thinking Fluffy! I am very tempted to add a second tree this year...

sweetsomethings · 01/11/2017 16:59

First weekend in December

Figgygal · 01/11/2017 17:02

Will be weekend of 9th this year

lirael92 · 01/11/2017 17:27

Usually the first Sunday in December but sometimes a bit later if it's hectic.

SweetIcedTea · 01/11/2017 17:39

When I can be bothered to go into the loft to bring it all down, but usually mid December, might be a bit earlier this year because of how Christmas falls. It comes down before I go back to work in the new year, regardless of whether it's 12th night or not.

Watto1 · 01/11/2017 17:42

Ours goes up the weekend after my birthday, so usually 2nd weekend of December.

NataliaOsipova · 01/11/2017 17:44

Middle of December. We get a real tree and like it to last to new year. Can’t believe anyone starts in November.....I’d be sick of it!

20th December ish. The weekend before the solstice, as a general rule. And it goes down on Twelfth Night. It makes me a little bit sad when people are fed up with their trees before Christmas is over.

Lotsawobblybits · 01/11/2017 17:48

16th or 17th December this year & we leave it up till 12th night.

Hot chocolate with brandy, Elf on TV and DP covered in crap from the loft.

Floralnomad · 01/11/2017 17:48
