Christmas wrapping inspiration

I always do a "theme" for my Christmas presents every year, last year the children's presents were made to look like ballerina's and toy soldiers, and the adults were silver paper with white ribbon and white poinsetta's. This years children's presents are being wrapped to look like ginger bread houses but I need inspiration for my adults. Can you post your past wrapping creations if you have any please Flowers

Crazmas I wrapped the gift in brick patterned wallpaper (not easy to sellotape) Then put a piece of black card on the top for the hole in the chimney, stuck cotton wool around the edge to look like snow, and then stuffed small santa stockings with paper and hot glued them upside down on top.

Thankyou Crimbo I shall be doing that !

I am completely in awe of your fantastic wrapping skills OP.

I always like to wrap nicely but you take it to another level. As a result of this thread I'm going to do the reindeer wrapping and have an idea for adult wrapping (baby steps!!)

I've only read to the middle of the thread so I'm off to read the last few posts.

MadamMinacious · 11/10/2017 19:42

MrsChrimbo - I hope you post other presents you have done this year. You have a talent!

MadamMinacious · 11/10/2017 19:43

Me again, going for a hat trick post. Just to say there is some lovely wrapping inspiration on Pintrest too.

LollaLaLuna · 12/10/2017 09:42

Unfortunately no photos from our last Xmas wrapped gifts, but this year I would love to do something like this:

Right it's not working.😐

NoWordForFluffy · 13/10/2017 08:55

My friend is trying to find specific paper and I instantly thought of you lot, so said I'd ask!

She's looking for: Blush pink and silver. Not girly pink! A rose goldy kind of blush.

Can anyone help?! Xmas Grin

Nothingrhymeswithfamily · 13/10/2017 14:21

I'm sure I've seen some antiquey pink wrap somewhere. Google bought this up www.zazzle.co.uk/blush+pink+wrappingpaper

But I'm sure I've seen it in an actual shop. I'll think!

NoWordForFluffy · 13/10/2017 14:31

Thank you!

Oh no, there goes the rest of my afternoon Grin

I've just remembered I looked at this site last year for reusable wrap - might try it this year www.wragwrap.com

sadandanxious · 15/10/2017 00:20

Love the wrapping on this thread. 5 year old DSD loves helping me wrap (and we're both in agreement her dad sucks, he can't even wrap straight) and I'd love to make it more interesting with her. Watching for inspiration. We also make our own cards but never even thought of making the wrapping better

MrsHathaway · 15/10/2017 00:22

Ooh that's pretty! But at price. As we tend to do several small gifts each, it could double our present spend ... Shock

oldlaundbooth · 15/10/2017 00:29

Brilliant thread.

I need to up my game!

C8H10N4O2 · 15/10/2017 00:30

OMG @MrsCrimbo74 how long does all that take you?

Like a couple of PPs I'm in the "job lot of paper from Ikea put on with a knife and fork". In practice DH and visiting DM do most of my wrapping as I find it tricky to do (as well as being useless at it :-))

Your parcels are quite beautiful, it seems a shame to open them and destroy the packaging. Any tips on novelty wrapping for complete numpties?

MrsHathaway · 15/10/2017 01:10

In OP's absence, my two main tips for good wrapping (from my time in retail gift wrapping):

  1. Start with a box shape. Curves and angles are difficult and often ugly.
  1. Use paper that creases. Deliberate creases on the edges of presents are anchors to keep the paper tight and therefore smooth. Shiny paper rarely creases well. Brown paper does.
SealSong · 15/10/2017 01:24

Wow this is a whole new world. I may have to up my game considerably here. It would help if I could even manage to wrap a cube without it looking like I've just chucked it into a ball of scrumpled up paper. I'm hopeless at even the simplest wrapping.

Those toilet roll inner gift containers are genius.

Reastie · 15/10/2017 05:59

This is brilliant, I love th pictures. I would share with you my wrapped presents (I've already started in this year) but I also make my own wrapping paper (well, not make, more decorate) and I don't want to out myself in rl on here.

I tend to use ribbon and have a personalised stamp from here saying something along the lines of 'happy Christmas from mr reastie, reastie, and mini reastie' so all I need to write in each label is the recipients name. I often use Christmas tree decorations to decotate the package also and tie it in with the bow.

MrsCrimbo74 · 23/10/2017 11:10

Sorry for the absence I've been on holibobs Smile C8H10N4O2 It takes ages if I'm honest, although I enjoy doing it so it's not so bad. However last year I thought it would be a lovely idea to make personalised baubles for every child in my ds's nursery class, there were 40 children and each one had their name hanging inside the bauble, by the time I'd got to the end of that I wished I'd never started.

As for wrapping easily as MrsHathaway said I tend to put everything into boxes as it makes it so much easier to wrap.

Am loving reading everyone elses ideas and hints and tips, and am enjoying looking at the wragwrap website.

I'm planning on starting my wrapping this weekend so will share pictures as and when.. as I said in the original posting kids presents are going to look like gingerbread houses this year, not entirely sure how this is going to work out but I'm going to have fun trying.

My effort from last year. Mostly for ease and keeping the cost down tbh but I was pretty pleased with the results. Smile
