Christmas wrapping inspiration

I always do a "theme" for my Christmas presents every year, last year the children's presents were made to look like ballerina's and toy soldiers, and the adults were silver paper with white ribbon and white poinsetta's. This years children's presents are being wrapped to look like ginger bread houses but I need inspiration for my adults. Can you post your past wrapping creations if you have any please Flowers

THIS THREAD IS AMAZING!!!!

I am a terrible present wrapper but I love to watch people doing it. There is a YouTubr channel called PaperGuru that is just lovely.

You guys are inspirational!! Keep the pictures coming!

OohMrDarcy · 08/10/2017 10:43

This thread is inspiring!

I'm not with my DC on Christmas day this year (boxing day) so I adore the idea of making it a bit more special with amazing wrapping - I can't even cut straight though!

LOVE the rudolph wrapping for my DS ..... DD adores penguins - if anyone can think of a way to do similar looking like penguins, please share!

You people have just made my Christmas exciting again Grin

A German friend has candles on her tree. They are absolutely beautiful. It is a tradition that they are lit every evening for their visitors. It is in the conservatory so every candle is reflected. I was fascinated by it- is never seen such a lovely tree.

This year I'm doing plain turquoise paper with wide wired ribbon with a peacock print. Our (tiny) tree will have plain white lights, plain white ceramic stars and peacock bows. With a tiny peacock as the top piece.

I too hide 'non-matching' presents at the back.

SootSprite · 08/10/2017 12:32

Oh god, this has so inspired me!

We do a themed Christmas tree every year and I make new decorations in keeping with the theme. My wrapping is always a bit slapdash. This year I have significantly fewer presents to buy so may well pour a bit more energy into the wrapping.

There are some pics on Pinterest of choc bars wrapped as penguins, could adapt that idea.
Also think snowmen would be pretty easy to do, same concept as the reindeer but with white paper

MrsCrimbo74 · 09/10/2017 09:49

For people wanting to do snowmen that aren't great with paper, I used a pillow case, put the present in the bottom of it and then filled the rest up with shredded paper, tied a piece of string around the waist so it made a top and a bottom and then stuck buttons and bits on the front for eyes, nose and mouth etc. and then stuck a hat on the top. I unfortunately don't have any pictures of the snowmen I made but the pillow cases are easier than paper.

That’s a great idea re the snowmen!

LollaLaLuna · 09/10/2017 10:18

KeiraH- wow, it looks so pretty!✨I always loved this simple, kind of rustical style.❄️

Has anyone got ideas for advent things with little gifts? A friend of mine made little knitted stockings to hang on twigs, which she had in a vase. Looked really good. It's my daughter's first advent away from home, and I would like her to have something with little treats. The current trend for beauty advent calendars is way too expensive!

MrsCrimbo74 · 10/10/2017 12:35

Just seen on another site, big sale on at The bodyshop 30% off of non-sale items with code 14671 and 50% off a £40 spend with code 14319

Blogwoman For a relatively cheap advent calendar idea, you can use toilet rolls to make little gifts to put things in and just attach numbers and ribbon to each one. I've added a picture from the internet to show you what I mean

Little tiny soaps and lipbalm type stuff would be fabulous for an advent calendar though!

MrsHathaway · 10/10/2017 12:58

And not every day needs to be a big thing - some days could be a single chocolate from a big box of Heroes (4 for £5 in Morrisons atm, also Quality Street and Roses) or a cracker joke. Would make the little gifty bits look even more special.

MrsHathaway · 10/10/2017 13:00

(sorry me again)

Some lovely ideas for advent calendars here.

Blogwoman · 10/10/2017 13:09

Ooh thank you! Some really nice simple ideas in that link MrsHathaway, including a version of the one you shared MrsCrimbo. I'll get thinking. Shopping later so might have a look for some little things. Anyone know where you can buy coloured paper bags? I liked the look of those in some of the advent calendar pics, fixed with washi tape/mini pegs.

stargirl1701 · 10/10/2017 13:15

We stick with brown parcel paper and cellulose tape as the most recyclable/compostable options. I have seen people use and reuse material for wrapping.

MrsCrimbo74 · 10/10/2017 13:21

Ebay have these candy striped ones 100 for £2.55 and free postage

ArcheryAnnie · 10/10/2017 13:50

stargirl where do you get cellulose tape, please?

Blogwoman · 10/10/2017 15:20

Sellotape is biodegradable cellulose tape Smile Thanks for the Etsy link MrsCrimbo. This is a great thread. Look forward to seeing what everyone does this year.

Crazmas · 10/10/2017 17:50

Amazing ! OP you simply must share how you made the chimney present ?!

TheNewMrs · 10/10/2017 20:27

This thread has inspired me to start looking for my Christmas wrap!
I gift wrap at work so by the time I come to wrap my own I'm fed up, and they end up looking like fish and chip parcels Grin
But hoping to get my paper soon and then wrap as I buy.. Hopefully they'll look as nice as some of these on here! You creative lot 🎁

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 10/10/2017 20:55

This year we're having a laid back Christmas at home and we'll be using up all the bits of paper left over before any is bought (although I may chuck the very glittery roll that makes mess everywhere)

Last year I did different brown paper based papers with ribbon, but that's really as good as it gets here!

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 11/10/2017 08:48

I bloody love you lot, you've inspired me! I have decided to do reindeers for the children, using brown paper, and fabric-wrapped presents for the adults, with beautiful fabric bows. I'll start building up a stash of fabric and ribbons which I can build on year by year (I'll retrieve the wrappings, unless the recipient wants to keep them) but this year I fancy using plain fabric in jewel tones with contrasting patterned ribbons. I've been meaning to do something different from the usual and to cut down on the waste for absolutely ages, but have always left it too late to organise. Not this year! Grin
