I just love a good celebration and being the hostess

We have 4 or 5 parties a year and I host bbqs and games nights as often as possible!

they tend to get very close together this time of year though!

The one thing i would say about hosting a potluck is to make sure that you are getting a mix of dishes otherwise you end up with 11 pecan pies one turkey and some bread rolls, not that there is anything wrong with pecan pie!

I love the idea of thanks giving, celebrating the harvest and letting people close to you know you are thankful for them.

DM DF and Dbro got back from the hospital at about 9:30 last night, and he promptly had another fit, so lots of tests and appointments for him it would seem. He had some sort of brain scan after his last fit (mid summer time) and they indicated a chemical imbalance, he has been on epilim since then but it is clearly not working for him.

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/09/2017 11:59

Hairspray I hope your brother gets answers and treatment soon. I'm assuming he's an older teen? It must be very traumatic for him and your DParents.

I have booked my wreath making course Xmas Grin. I'm very excited - the light lunch sounds delicious too.

HairsprayBabe · 27/09/2017 12:08

He is 19 in about 3 weeks, hasn't been my "little" brother for a good few years! But he is still the baby of the family, loves to snuggle up with mum and watch casualty!

He dislocated his shoulder last night and has damaged the ball of the joint and might need a n operation, they discharged him at 1am last night after his 2nd fit.

Are all JLs the same layout or is that Cardiff fluffy?

NoWordForFluffy · 27/09/2017 13:25

I think they're similar, but this is Liverpool.

Woolly if you find a decent (and easy) crochet pattern would you send me a link?

TheWoollybacksWife · 27/09/2017 20:33

MrsD I like thesee* ones - other ones I've found need shirring elastic sewn into the base but I like the button closure of these designs. I'm reasonably optimistic that I may be able to use the basic design and freestyle a bit. I need to do 6 and would like them all to be different. I think the robin could be adapted to do a penguin (I may have to do the base in black and then crochet a white bit for the front rather than colour change). A bit of tweaking could turn them into a snowman and a Santa design and then I need a unicorn. Not very Christmassy but I know one of my colleagues would love it.

It's going quick now!

I've been looking at the boots 3 for 2. Seen loads!! And all three of mine now have advent calendars preen

Galloping along!

The Boots website was being crap for me last night. I may have to venture into a store!

HairsprayBabe · 28/09/2017 08:06

Gearing up for our halloween bash, just bought some mini sugar mice and a big bag of candy corn

Can you buy black maraschino cherries anyone?

CbeebiesAddict · 28/09/2017 09:09

Love how it is all gearing up :) We moved house this year and don't have a dining table yet, ordering that this week so we can host everyone come Christmas :)

BiddyPop · 28/09/2017 12:31

Another DCousin ticked off the presents list.

I spent a lot of yesterday watching Martha Stewart and various crafters on youtube (I was keeping myself in bed trying to shake a cold, but sleep wasn't forthcoming). So now I have lots more ideas and a few tips on actually doing some flower arranging.

Today, I am catching up at work after a 2 day course (managing underperformance - lovely!) and sick day yesterday. But being strangely productive (hence why it is only now I am getting to MN!).

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/09/2017 12:55

Quick check in (so you know I haven't gone AWOL)

I'm holding off major buying till Oct , got a couple of days leave in the half term, might be able to sneak out without my eagle eyed DD Xmas Grin

Aiming to buying 90% online and the remainder when DH and I have our Traditional Shopping Day .

Doing lists though Xmas Wink

CoffeeAndEnnui · 28/09/2017 13:54

Yesterday I received a giant box of Asda Christmas bedding and cushions (the Snowglobe design for all of our beds plus the London cushions in case the sofas felt left out!) and after accepting I may have gone OTT I swore I was done with house pretties...

Annnnnd then I came on this thread and saw the Christmas countdown cushion and the madness began all over againBlush

Ohwell14 · 28/09/2017 15:21

Hi, for anyone who has young children they have a 3 for 2 at Mothercare. Just stocked up on play mats for babies playroom Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 28/09/2017 17:31

I can't wait to get my Christmas cushions out of the wardrobe! We had one made from a selection of Christmas clothing worn by the kids a couple of years' ago and I love it (and the others, but not as much!).

Morning! Thank god it's Friday. I need the weekend so much!

We will go to John Lewis on Sunday and the kids can choose a bauble each. (I may choose a few too!) Exciting! 🎄🎄🎄

Annwithnoe · 29/09/2017 06:36

I love the sound of your cushions Fluffy.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/09/2017 07:26
